Some things that attract me to it are the leather seats, the color, 215 hp v6, chrome wheels. For the money I could have either bought a bare-bones Honda or something but I feel like I got a lot with this car. The chrome wheels look great when polished. I was happy to see the front factory component speakers in the doors.
Weakness:
Steering feels clunky when turning but sometimes I don't notice it. I don't like the yellow running lights on the front. Traction control doesn't seem like it does anything but tell me when it's low. But I don't feel like it changes anything. I really never imagined myself driving an Oldsmobile. But after test driving about 10 different cars I kept coming back to this one. Mine's a black GL and I love it. I've had it for about 5 months and the only thing I've needed to do is replace a fog lamp. I'm really happy with it. Strength:
Great looks. Awesome handling and acceleration. Quiet. Great ride. Well engineered and well built car.Ï
Weakness:
None so far... except wife wants to drive this car all the time. Excellent car with lots of features for the money. Bought new almost four weeks ago. So far, not a single problem or gripe about the car. Too bad Olds is going to be chopped from the lineup soon. This car is too good for GM to abandon. |

Looks, Sportiness, Power, Engine, Comfort, More features per dollar than Accord & Camry & Maxima.
Weakness:
Too bad GM is dropping Oldsmobile; their only capable contender to the Import divisions. How many people do you know are deciding between a Chevy Impala or a Maxima? My parents test drove this car on a whim last year when they went with my sister to pick up her new Alero. They went back and bought it 3 days later. It's a great combination of luxury and sportiness for them, as my mom likes sport and dad likes luxury. They have the standard GL equipment plus Leather, Power Moonroof, Chrome Wheels, and a spoiler. They love this car as well as I. It's pretty bad ass for being my "father's Oldsmobile." It was 2 years old with 30k miles and so it was still under warranty for the low price of 13,500. How much would a 99 Maxima with similar equipment be? Can you even get traction control, oil life monitor, tire pressure monitor on the Camry LE? A driver's car-this base model offered more standard features than others, standard features, smooooth transmission, strong V6, leg room, great seats for 2 hr + drives, long maintenance intervals, change oil indicator, low air pressure indicator, cabin air filter, two-tone interior, programmable door lock/unlock, day time running lights. i
Weakness:
Did not get retained accessory power option, steering wheel controls, water rolls off windshield into window.o Great driving and handling car! 97K miles, battery overcharging around 40K and leaking acid - replaced, replaced starter@70K, upgraded OEM brake rotors to drilled rotors, warping problem. i Similar Products Used: none |

They have a lot of get up and go! Very quick transmission.
Weakness:
Mine has an oil leak problem right now, probably minor, I just bought it used. The automatic contols for the windows are pretty bad, sometimes my window goes down, sometimes not. I love the Olds Intrigue, it drives really well, it can pose as a family car with the 4 door and large interior or just a nice luxury car. |

Strength:
The engine and handling are fantastic for a sedan. The standard equipment (V6, power everything, CD, alloys) is impressive and makes the car a much better value than anything Honda or Toyota can offer. Plus, if you take advantage of the front-loaded depreciation curve (most of the 5-year depreciation occurs in the first year), you can get a well cared-for one-year-old Intrigue for half of what a comparable import would cost.
Weakness:
They are well known: the brake rotors warp easily, the radio gets a little hotter than some would like. I think the worm gear that controls the elevation of the driver's seat has become stripped. If you pass on this car because of these little things, you've never had *real* car trouble! Looked at the Accord and Camry, didn't like the wimpy engines, meager cabin volumne, poor standard-equipment offerings, and high prices. Saw my first Intrigue, and I was hooked! I found the reviews on this site to be helpful and accurate when evaluating the purchase decision, so I'm back to put in my two cents. Similar Products Used: 1999 Camry, Accord |

3.5 liter engine has lots of pick-up when you need it! I have no trouble passing, and no trouble getting out of the way when necessary. Plenty of leg room in the front, seats are very comfortable and adjust well even for very tall or long-legged individuals. Quiet ride for the most part--much quieter than similar imports. Big trunk, with fold-down rear seats that allow you to carry long loads, like lumber, if necessary. Lots of extras for your money.
Weakness:
Can''t see rear of car well, which makes for difficulty when backing into a parking space. Sides of car are also difficult to judge when parking in very narrow spaces. Fog lights can become "stuck", as mine did. I haven''t had them repaired yet, but have been told the problem might be with the relay switch. (I advise anyone with this problem to take care of it soon, as the fog lights tend to cloud the lens cover.) Not much rear leg room when front seats are pushed all the way back. I don''t much care for the automatic locks (they lock when you start the car, and stay locked unless manually unlocked or you put the car in "park"). Overall a great car, with wonderful styling both inside and out. Sleek, elegant, understated. My car is a metallic candy apple red, with a very light ivory leather interior--really beautiful. The car handles very well, and this was the main selling point for me. Smooth transmission, excellent acceleration. Too bad Oldsmobile won''t be making this car anymore! Look good.
Weakness:
Poor quality-both interior and exterior. I have always been a fan of Oldsmobile, but as far as this car goes I am longer a fan. I bought the car new and it has been in the garage for servicing almost everyother week. Now it is burning oil or loosing oil. Not quite sure. It was leaking coolant and has already had a new alternator. It only has 22,000 miles on it. I ma very disappointed in this car. I have asked the dealership to let me trade it in and they want nothing to do with it. |

Weakness:
Some rattles, radio reception could be a bit better. I''m very happy with the car. It is very comfortable up front, it''s a welcome change to have enough room for my legs on long drives! The 3.5 Shortstar engine is extremely smooth and quiet, much more refined than the ancient 3.8 that GM continues to use in all their other products. This car rides and handles like a fine touring sedan, no quesy wallowing around like in Oldsmobiles past! Nice big touring tires, power everything, thick leather-wrapped steering wheel all contribute to the feeling of driving a touring car. The styling is wonderful, most people I ask about it think that it''s a Nissan Maxima or perhaps a Honda. Mine''s black with a rear spoiler, which gives it an agressive look. Gas milage is OK, much better on the highway than in the city. Acceleration is very good. Some minor rattles, but I bought the car with 41000 miles on it and it still seems to be pretty tight. It took a while to get used to the climate controls, but now they work great for me. Similar Products Used: Toyota Camry |

Brother was a bad driver and dinged it A LOT, car was white so chips showed real well. Great car, purchased for good price, no problems, drove it everywhere. Out of state(and country too) 45k miles in 1 year, no problems. Traded in for more than paid (wanted a convertible).
