Lumbar support for the seats Comfortable for long rides Pretty roomy back seat Stylish look
Weakness:
acceleration rate ok on the slow side cup holders are held by a bar not a whole lot of room for storage of random things Cant do a whole lot of aftermarket stuff Overall a pretty decent car. Its pretty reliable. For it being a 96 it still looks stylish and not old looking. No major problems.Wrecked it once, rear ended someone and the mechanics sucked and the car has been screwy ever since. The whole electrical systems messed up. The lights dont work all the time, you have to pop the hood and wiggle some wires to get it to work. If you unlock the doors and open the passenger door alarm goes off. Alarm is really obnoxious. I think still its a pretty good car to have for as much as paid for it. The whole radio did stop working one day and so it would be about 300 to send it to get it fixed so now it has a head unit. Speakers are ok soundwise. Has 6 speakers and 3 are currently working. The 2 speakers on the door dont work and i blew the back one. On a long trip one day the turn signal just stopped working for like 3 mins. Sunroof so makes the car i like the tilt and the whole way open option. The cupholder is kinda ghetto. The glove compartment is pretty small. The trunk has tons and tons of room. Also you can pull the middle seat back part as kind of a arm rest for the two people in the back. We bring our xmas tree home in it and its pretty okay. The acceleration time i think is slow. I will give it tons of credit for the smooth ride. I have tons of potholes on my driveway and i barely feel them, when i get into other cars it more noticeable. I love the fact you can lock the windows. the back doors have plastic lil storage compartments for like loose change aside from the door handle, those have detached from whatever has been holding them. Not a whole lot of aftermarket parts but ive seen body kits and such. Not bad blind spot wise. Gas mileage kinda sucks i get about 17 mpg. Although the engine has about 193,000 miles on it. For how many miles there is on the engine its quite reliable. Really not that bad of a car overall. Similar Products Used: n/a |

Nissan Altima 2.5SL
Advanced Review: The 2002 Nissan Altima, i have made many reviews on this site many of times, disguising myself under different names and such. But there is something about writing reviews about my cars or my tires or my mods that make me happy to write about. Well with no further due, I give you my 2002 2.5SL...the SL model comes standard with a bose system, leather seating, power everything, 16"alloys, heated seats(2003),trip comp and all those little gadgets. the big boy V6 delivers awesome power, from its 3.5 engine, 245hp to 246lbt. Very fast, very quick, very sloppy! This car has the same problem as the 2004 Acura TL. TOO MUCH TORQUE STEER DUE TO FRONT WHEEL DRIVE!..its an all around fun car to drive with its sport tuned suspensions, 17" wheels and that v6 power, but unfortunalty but happily i own the 2.5 4 cylinder. When i bought this car many said oh its a 4 cylinder, they're economized little motors, they're slow with no pickup and are just good on gas. Yeah its true, if you drive a toyota corolla. But this 4 banger comes with an impressive 175hp n 180lbt. Lightweight aluminum hood roof and trunk reduct weight for the 4 cylinder to improve its response. the electronic throttle doesnt really do much, some like it some dont because its electric and may have problems. the car does have body roll around cornering but not a drastic amount. My mods are simple, a cold air intake my injen that produces a loud growl on open throttle past 3000rpm and an increase of 15hp, an APR (AP Racing) strut bar, that eliminates 95% of the body roll, steering is extremley tightened due to this but should be paired with a rear anti sway bar. Trenz grill because the stock grill looks very cheap, the trenz grill is the most common of all aftermarket altiam grills. Easy fooled with the S-class grill of the Mercedes Line, its chrome shiny glow with remarkable slit in the middle gives it a unique and elegant design. debadged rear for a smooth backing, 20% tints for sun block and privacy. |

Interior poorly designed Radio display (black nos. on orange background) unreadable. Dealer and Nissan Consumer Affairs Dept. say nothing they can do. AC also not the best I've ever used. But beyond that, car is nice to drive, not bad looking and very responsive. But because of radio problems and Nissan's failure to correct, I probably won't buy a Nissan again. Weakness:
Interior I looked at most of the other cars in this category, to include the Honda Accord, Toyota Camry, Mazda 6, and several others. What sold me on the Nissan was the exterior style and the performance. By far the best performing car of the others I tested. The exterior is sporty yet mature at the same time. The Honda style was quite boring as usual, and the Toyota and Mazda did not come close in performance. I agree with most reviews that the interior is cheap. If you’re more interested in performance, this is the car, if you want luxury, go with Honda. I got leather seats, which really adds to the look of this car. The Bose system did not impress me at all, so I put in an aftermarket Alpine system which is far superior, just a little spendy is all. Similar Products Used: Honda Accord VW Jetta |

Base stereo is impressive on the bass and highs. Fast.
Weakness:
I raced a Porsche 911 Carrera the other day and lost by half a car lenght to 60. This is a fast car. The interior is not up to par with the Camry, on the 2004. The 2005 has a nicer interior. I'm 26 and this car get's lots of looks from people my age and people in general. I live near NYC, where there are lots of nice cars. The 3.5 SE is the muscle car of midsize sedans. People that complain that the steering is touchy should purchase a Camry. Sports cars are supposed to have touchy steering. The 3.5SE will keep up with a Mustang V8. Too bad no one in a Stang V8 will race me. Similar Products Used: Camry= dull Mustang V6= slow |

Exterior styling, incredible amount of room in both the front and rear (especially the rear), gas mileage, audio system, steering-wheel-mounted audio controls
Weakness:
Quality of interior, air vents are difficult to manipulate I purchased this car during the first model year. I was a little hesitant about the quality of the Nissan family, having driven a Honda immediately beforehand, but I was impressed that it had been named the 2002 North American Car of the Year -- so I gave it a shot. I was incredibly impressed with the styling and the sleekenss of the exterior. There's no denying that this car's a looker. Plus, driving it for the first time was a real turn-on, too. The 3.5 liter engine in the SE model has a lot of pick up and makes driving so much fun. What sealed the deal for me was the fantastic audio system that comes with the Bose system. However, after I'd owned the car for only a few days, I already began to experience remorse. The quality of the interior design was more than a little disappointing. Closing the glove compartment or middle console compartments sounds like shutting the doors in a toy car -- it just sounds "hollow" and plastic. So far, two years later, I haven't had any major functional problems with my Altima. I did have to take it in twice for repair of the same problem, but once if was fixed, I've had no problems since. What I loved about the car originally, I still love today. The engine is fantastic, as is the stereo and the exterior styling. But the quality just isn't there. Similar Products Used: Honda Accord |

Great styling, good performance for 4 cylinder, lots of room, mix of sport and luxury like, bose system,
Weakness:
Too many people have them, mirrors too big, undersized tires, 4 cylinder should be bored out just a little bit more considering the same engine is dropped into the Nissan Sentra SE-R Spec V, plastics feel as if the interior is made by fisher price. The 2002 Nissan Altima SL 4 banger, is a very quick for a 4 cylinder..175hp is a lot for a 4 cylinder but for the size car its underpowered, it still gets u where u gotta go, but considering its wait, it makes the car feel heavier than what it is..the leather upolostry is very nice, extremley comfortable in the rear with a huge amount of leg room front and back, the front seats offer decent support and the suspension is a very soft ride upon undersized 205-65-16" tires, the new 2005 puts on 215 60 16 sized, higher and wider providing better traction, no ABS and TCS avaliable on 4 cylinders? Thats ridiculous! the style is phenomonal, great lexus like body big bulster taillights, nice styling especially with side sills and spoiler. the braking is really nice but without ABS you feel unsecure, the 11.7" rotors up front provide great braking paired with the 11.3? or so in the rear. My altima consists of a trenz grill up front because the old grill is somewhat cheap, rear spoiler, tinted windows, debadged rear, TLP Cold air intake (gives it a really throaty sound)..The Bose system is great, 8 speakers with a 6cd in dash 150w system, great bass and great highs with no distortion what so ever at any volume level..a trim kit is definitly needed in this car, wood or brushed aluminum..the interior plastics look and feel cheap, it just doesnt feel like a sturdy interior..the mirrors, as big as they are, like elephant ears, stick out so much, and still have blind spots, mirrors bigger than the BMW M3 mirrors, nice stlyed though with the indent...but with mirrors so big, why dont they fold in?!? Strength:
Quick acceleration, Horse power, smooth ride, quiet, gas mileage (avg. about 29 on the highway, performance, lots of interior room, plenty of trunk space and the instrument lay out is okay. Nice interior storage compartments.
Weakness:
Cheap mirrors that breaks very easily. Costly to replace broken mirrors ($250 min.) Steering is a little sensitive. The driver seat is beginning to squeak. This car value depreciates very quickly in value. Faster than a dragster car running the quarter mile. Check the NADA or the Blue book. Not a car to recommend to a friend! The Altima looks good but it is a cheaply made vehicle/car. We went from a Maxima to the Altima. In my opinion, this was a mistake. The Altima ride is smooth, quiet but the steering is real touchy. You have to obtain a feel for the steering. The mirrors are made out of very cheap plastic, such that we have had to replace the driver side mirror three (3) times at a cost of two hundred and fifty ($250) on each ocassion. The mirror is hollow (very thin plastic) with minimum support. Nissan needs to seriously reconsider this design and have issue an recall on the mirrors. Which brings me to numerous other recalls that has been issued on the car. Fortunitely, they were made before we had any problems (about 4 recalls). I purchased at least six Nissan and feel comfortably saying that I'm a Nissan man. Should you ever owned a Maxima, please do not waste your time with an Altima because there is no comparison to the Flagship of Nissan (The Maxima!). |
