Needs more power Terrible paint Trunk is flimsy Soft brakes Noisy ride on highway I bought this car after my Tercel was totalled in an accident. I liked the fact that all the bells and whistles came standard in this car, while adding them into a smaller car would bring the price up. The interior space is good - I had two backseat passengers of 6'+ and they fit comfortably. I am very easy on my brakes and I just had to replace the front brakes on this at 23000 miles; which I thought was too fast. The horsepower in this car is too low. You cannot stop on steep hill and expect to get up it without your engine burning up a little bit. The ride slows down if you have more than two people in the car I don't really hate this car - but I wouldn't buy another one. I'm sticking with Toyotas. Similar Products Used: 1992 Toyota Tercel |

Weakness:
Acceleration can sometimes be weak when heat or AC is on. While I liked the car before I hit the lot, I loved the car after I got my hands on it. It came fully loaded at a price the competitors couldn't come close to matching. The practical placement of the goods under the hood make the car a dream to work on. The interior is spacious and the fabric is durable. Shifting is flawless and the clutch is quick. The car stops quickly and was made for corners. Visability is geat as the dash doesn't come as high as Honda's. It's a sporty car for the person who has to go the four door sedan route :) Similar Products Used: Honda Accord |

Strength:
The acceleration and breaking is great. Roomy interior that is very comfort. The stock sterio sounds great and has enough power. Keyless entry is nice along with the split fold rear seats although i understand that that was an upgrade option. The safety ratings are also very impressive.
Weakness:
Paint chips very easily. I already have a number of chips from rocks on the highway. I will be getting a bra for it as soon as i can save up the $100 it costs. I also wish it came with cruse control. I would think that every car now should come stock with this. Some times the engine has a slightly rough idle after it warms up. The shop said everythign is ok and that it is probably just the normal vibration associated with the 4 cyl engine. I was comfortable with that explination. This car a more highway road noise compared to the Honda's and Toyotas but they are also more expensive.I am a very picky person and those were the only faults i could find with this car. I test drove many cars and the Lancer was by far the best car for the money. It has a large interior and trunk. The back seat has a lot of let room for passengers. I like how it handles and has average acceleration from a stop. The acceleration is much better at highway speeds and when passing. The gas milage is also good at 24/31 which is what i have repeadidly been getting. Then interior has a bit of class to it with the wood trim dash. I also like the power windows and locks. Most cars in this price range are lacking them. This may not be important to some of you but the engine compartment layout allows for easy maintance. Almost everything is easily accesable which means labor on routien maintance and repairs is cheeper. I have found the breaks to be very powerful even though they arnt ABS. I put 2,000mi on it in the first month after buying it used. It now has 12,500 miles and has no problems. I give it a 4 star because of the chiping paint and lack of cruse control.(see below). Other than that, I would give it a 5 star rating. Similar Products Used: 1986 Toyota Tracel. Great car that would never die but just got to old. |

Weakness:
The car moves a little slower when the A/C or heating system is on but that is present with all cars. I love this car. It's very zippy and definitely a smooth drive. Sturdy and safe are two very strong characteristics of this car. I got into a minor fender bender the other day and there was no damage to my car and barely a knick on the huge truck that bumped into me. Similar Products Used: Chevy Malibu and Mazda Tribute |

Bold, good looks, styling, ground effects.
Weakness:
No fog lights, ABS brakes, 4 wheel disc, sunroof, alarm, or peppy enough engine with 2 or more passengers, definitey a V6 would be needed. I bought this car new. Acceleration to me is poor, sluggish off the start and okay on the expressway. The ride is very good on the expressway, bumpy with tires set at 32 psi all around. The look is definitey the best part in its class. The gas mileage is good at 24 for me. The tank is way too small. I would prefer a 16 gallon tank. I have had no problems with 14,000 miles. I recommend to run a synthetic oil. The car only take 4 quarts which is nice and easy to change the oil. The stereo and interior is decent. Similar Products Used: VW Passat |

great handling, lots of power, good looks, very loud stereo, great all around value.
Weakness:
I have not found any. I am very impressed with the ralliart. This car picks up quick with 162 bhp and it handles great with its sport tuned suspension. It is very smooth on the road, but it was built for cornering. It will also bring you to a screeching halt with all wheel disk brakes and sticky bridgestone potenzas. The trunk spoiler, 16 inch wheels, and mild bodykit make it look great. The interior has a leather wrapped steering wheel, sport buckets and an optional 315 watt stereo system. FRONT BRAKES power NO ABS STANDARD I have had my lancer for just about two years, and have had no problems. I have everything done to mine but a turbo or nos. Once you free up those kinks in the exhaust and intake system, this car will and can hang with the best of them. As far as track times for those of you who are concerned. The first time with just an intake was a 16.99, then with headers, throttle body, intake, exhaust, lowering of 1.8in, short shifter, and a straight pipe was a 16.13 at best. The car has such a solid feel to it. Clutch is still as solid as day one, and I have 45,000 miles on it. I have driven this car hard through track nights and Arizona mountain roads. Although I do agree that it could use a bit more power stock, I am happy. By the way if I drive the car like a grandma, I can milk a full tank of gas for almost 400 miles! |

Gas mileage. Moon roof. Exterior view. I also have to say that I love the little blinker on each side.
Weakness:
1. The interior is a little plain. 2. There is a definate change in the way it drives if the fluids are not topped off. 3. I could use a little quicker acceleration. Good car. I haven't had any problems so far, and I already have 33,000 miles on it. I love the look. It drives good and has great mileage. |
