Mitsubishi eclipse GS-T
Strength:
-great looks -great handling -most likely the best bang for your buck -reliable if you take care of it
Weakness:
-Too many bad mouth people talking about it -Its an AMERICAN car not an import, which is its biggest misconception(which I like Ok all I hear is bad things from other people who drive this car. That is because you didnt take care of your car, plus I am a ford mechanic and the probe is more troublesome, slower, and much much more exspensive to fix. Anyways I do my share of racing and I do take great care of my car and it in turn treats me good. The only problems Ive had were easily fixed with either a screwdriver or a 8mm socket and about 10 minutes or less. The point is its a great looking, handling and performing car, and if you take care of it, then it will take good care of you. I would definatley recomend to the weekend racer with COMMON sense and who will be responsible enough to take good care of the car. Similar Products Used: 1987 ford mustang gt(slower), Hyundai tiburon(same motor just without the turbo), and honda civic heavily modded(could handle a lot better but was ultimatly slower) |

Looks Great!!
Weakness:
steering sucks! check engine light dont turn off and the mechanic dont even know why, if anyone has advice email me. Oil leaks. Not all that fast.Overpriced!! Worse purchase possible!! I have only had this car for 3 months and it sux!! it looks great, yet have had many problems and am sick of the B.S.!! check engine light comes on all the time, the steering wheel turns to the left upon acceleration, leaks oil, and trunk lets water in. Similar Products Used: 1994 Ford Probe GT -- 100 times better than the eclipse, not to mention didnt have half the problems and was a whole lot faster!! |

Mitsubishi Eclipse GS 2.0 Non-Turbo FWD
Strength:
It's a pretty quick car, even without the turbo. The stock turbo in these things didn't make a huge difference anyways. This car is also pretty good on gas. If you're thinking about getting one, make sure it has the 2.0 liter, not the 1.8. That is, unless you want engine trouble.
Weakness:
It's not the most reliable car I've ever had. If you want reliable, buy a Honda. I've also heard the automatics have some tranny problems so I'd recommend you steer away from those. Not much of a backseat, but other than that, it's a fun little car to drive around. Well, this isn't such a bad car to drive, however, in the few months I've had it, I have already invested about $900 into it. Some of it was just stupid stuff (i.e. tires, brake calipers, rotors, and pads). I had to replace the slave cylinder, battery, and alternator almost simultaneously. Other than that, the car has 120,000 miles on it and it is still in pretty good shape. Similar Products Used: 86 Mustang GT, 92 Honda Civic (VERY RELIABLE!!!) |

They are real head turners especially when modified, personally I think it is the best looking sport compact out there...
Weakness:
Insurance... I have had the car about three years now and regardless of what anyone says it all depends on how you treat the car, I love the car personally, but I have mistreated it in the past. I have had a new tranny put in it, because I use to race it and it did mess the tranny up (My Fault), car would not stay in a gear. I took it to a tranny shop they dropped a new one in for me. Problem solved. Axles and shocks I missused the car and it bit me in the a$$. I have since drove the car normal and had no problems... |

Cool looking car, sporty, nice and low to the ground. Comfortable to drive. (for a 120 lb girl)
Weakness:
Its just like everyone says........... transmission!!!! Small back seat (but don't buy it if thats a problem) Just passed my 1 year mark of owning this car. I wanted one for a long time, and finally found this one for a decent price (I thought) Drove great on the test drive..............but that's it. Paid cash for it, drove off the lot and the spedometer stopped working. Hit the highway and popped out of 5th gear (standard), check engine light came on. I finally realized I had to hold it in 5th. Had to drive this car 1400 miles from Fla. to N.Y. like this. Some dumbass screwed up all the wiring and it had a bad ground which caused it to overcharge, which melted the battery and got acid all over everything under the hood. (this happened in freakin butt@#$k West Virginia no less! Had trans. rebuilt, still pops out of 5th! ($1000 later) Now I'm told it's the shift cables. Turns out the spedometer problem was related to the trans. problem too. Check engine light has ALWAYS been on and no one can figure out why. Spent lots of cash to fix this thing and its still screwed. This car always starts though and one day I came out from shopping, started it and it stalled. Would not start again and no one could tell me why. Days later, it started and hasnt had that problem since. This seems like just the beginning. I dont recommend this car. Looks pretty but don't be fooled. Just look at all the bad reviews! They're known for transmission problems. Seems like people dont know how to fix the damn things either. |

Looks nice.
Weakness:
Mitsubishi service dept., Clutch and brakes are poor also only 15,000 miles before new pads needed The car is nice except for I had to put a new clutch in at 11,000 miles. They did not warranty it because they said it was driver abuse. If it was driver abuse then why did I get 95,000 miles on my previous cars clutch???!! They were not willing to help and the clutch plate and flywheel are very poor quality. DO NOT BUY THIS CAR. unless you feel like forking out over 2000 before its even a year old!! Gets the ladies attention. looks good. about it.
Weakness:
mechanically sux. too much money to fix all the problems. There is No aftermarket parts for my stupid 2.4L engine.... Buying this car was the worst mistake I have ever made. First of all I paid way to much for it, after the second day it rained and my topped leaked, On day 4 my transmission took a dump. They rebuilt my tranny and a month later it went out again, Finally they replaced it with a used one and it went out about 10 months later. Recently my convertable top motor went out. It had an oil leak. Rotors are shot. Not only is my car payment 380/month, I got all these stupid repairs to make all the damn time.. suxxx. I bought a blitz body kit for it and some Z3 fenders but I haven't put them on yet cause I don't think it would be worth the money or time... Similar Products Used: ford probe... wish I would of kept it, wich is pretty bad to say. |

~LOOKS ARE PERFECT ~Best power for a 4 cylinder ~Awesome interior ~Easy to do simple interior and exterior mods to. ~Easy to find "sporty" addons (easy to soup up!) ~Great Stopping and Handling ~Attention Getter ~Hatchback, offers great trunk room(for a small car ~Good gas mileage ~Doesn't start to redline until 7000 rpm ~ALL around good car.
Weakness:
~Expensive factory parts ~Can't afford dealers ~Clutch Problem(whatever it is) ~The outside driverside door handle broke clean off today...dealer wants 76$ for the handle (in case you don't already know, that is crazy) I found that i'm not the only one that this has happened to. Several people have had this same problem. ????that's weird ~Windows constantly fog up I just got this car. I've wanted one since 95. I think that for a 2.0 4 cylinder the power is awesome. I have a 5sp. I've only had two problems. If anyone can help me please email me. When I mash in the clutch sometimes, the rpms drop to 0 and the car shuts off. I really need some help, please respond. Other that that, and it only happens occassionally, the car is great. I LOVE it. I do have to say that the backseat is small but back off it's a sports compact. I've already learned that parts are rather expensive and have to come from the dealer the majority of the time. I love the power, the interior is amazingly comfortable, and the looks can't be matched. Oh and by the way, the other day a car came to a dead stop in front of me while I was traveling at about 55mph. I had to slam on brakes, and let me tell you, the brakes didn't lock up and the car can stop on a dime. It's got good handling and amazing control. The car is definately a dream come true. Oh if there's someone that doesn't mind, please send me an email telling me from experience, what a good shift point is. Everyone has told me 2000 to 3000 but I don't think it hurts it to get a little more than that out of it on average. Please respond with your opinion.
