LS Premium Wagon
Strength:
3 row of seating (one of the few wagons that still has it)
Weakness:
Could use memory seats I bought this car about 3 weeks ago for my wife and we are very pleased. This car has all possible options and is extremely well thought out. This green wagon is very striking, with the big chrome 16 inch wheels give it a very sporty look. I like what Mercury has done with the front of the car, however the back of the wagon is basically unchanged from 99. I hope that this car continues to please us. |

Strength:
Great ride, very good performance with 200hp v6.
Weakness:
Not many Really happy about the car. Had choice to buy SUV or minivan. Went with Sable wagon because of ride and performance. Very sound car at any speed. Insurance rates are better on this wagon than they would have been on either SUV or Mini-Van. Went with leather interior, power everthing, and cd changer, it was well worth it! Give it test drive and see what I mean. |

Mercury Sable 3.8liter
Strength:
I loved the power of the V-6, the roomy trunk, tons of feet room in back seat, and pretty silver color.
Weakness:
Where do I begin? The 3.8 liter is not going to last. We have had every type of leak oil, brake fluid, transmission, A/C, and a contiunal antifreeze leak. The engine constantly overheats!! We have too many miles on the car to qualify for the recall on the head gaskets. We have replaced the water pump, radiator, hoses, thermostat, and soon the heater core. Yet, we still have an antifreeze leak. We are quite fed up. And now the A/C has gone out. We have changed the transmission fluid freuquently and yet it still has developed a slip. The lower-intake has rusting around parts dealing with the coolant. There is no room to work and fit tools without removing other perfectly working parts. We have experienced O rings leaking around the injectors. During rain storms the passenger front door seal leaks, and yet door seal appears to be in perfest condition. Passanger side window motor is going out. Several plastic pieces have broken off in the interior. Lots of brake problems like rotors worping and calipers sticking. The washer fluid works when IT decides. Gas door latch broke from normal use. Driver seat never ligns up with the passenger seat. We have experienced the wipers turning on for no reason. The car started out in excellent condition and quickly went down hill. We are hoping to trade it in soon because we do not trust the vehicle. Similar Products Used: The Sable is our first and last Ford car. Family and friends have also experienced problems with the 3.8 liter and the high cost of repairs. Stick with Chevy Trucks!!! |

Mercury Sable LS Premium
Strength:
Powerful engine, climate control excellent, good sound, love the leather and sunroof. Has all the toys for the price. Excellent crash tests if you are worried about safety, also seen one in a crash and the passengers came out shaken but not hurt (can't say the same about the people in the other car).
Weakness:
Transmission drops for a second when shifting, but when cold after that it is ok. Have had it for a while and love it, would recommend buying a Sable to anyone. If you can afford it go with the LS Premium, you will love all the extras it comes with. Did my research before buying the Sable and the heard both positive and some negatives about the car but am extremly glad I made the switch. Similar Products Used: Traded a 98 KIA Sportage for this and can't compare the two. My new sable blows away my old KIA. |

Sable LS wagon
Strength:
Acceleration, comfortable seating, starts every day, IT'S PAID FOR and beats a new note.
Weakness:
Broken power door locks, idiot lights coming on and dealer advises living with it cause they can't fix the problem. Eats front brakes, poor gas mileage, small gas tank. New transmission at 70,000 miles. Leather covered steering wheel is delaminating. Starts every day, gets me where I need to go in reasonable comfort. Only reason I have it is because my 2 prior Mercuries (Villagers) were both lemons and were required by the manufacturer. It's a bad sign to be on a first name basis with the shop foreman. This car convinces me that foreign is the way to go. Similar Products Used: Does not compare favorably to our Mazda or previous Toyota. |

/ 3.8 V6 automatic
Strength:
Power, space, and comfort. Very smooth ride, and all-power features.
Weakness:
Where do I begin? Lets say that I spent three times as much money fixing the car that what I paid for it. The next thing that breaks, I'm selling it for parts, if there are any that are useable. My opinions are so divided over this car that I cannot make up my mind. There are days where I love the smooth ride, the power of a 3.8 V6, and a very good amount of space, not to mention all-power features. But I'll can forget all of that pretty easily when my mechanic tells me that I need a new radiator, oxygen sensor, alternator, axel, etc. all of which happened to the car within 15 months of ownership. Similar Products Used: This is my first car, but I've compared it too a friends 1990 Honda Accord, and I've been really jealous. Although the Honda has about a third of the features, The value and reliability are great. I'm definetly looking to Japan for my next investment. |

GS Wagon
Strength:
The wagon is roomy and does get good mileage on the highway.
Weakness:
The wife got lucky and picked the pritty blue wagon that had the 3.0 liter engine instead of the famous 3.8 (my mother wasn't so lucky). My wife wasn't so lucky with the trans., we had it rebuilt at 70,000 miles for a grand. I replaced the hydralic engine mount, speed'o cable, water pump, and shocks. The radiator leaks whenever we go up north because of the cold temperatures. We have 105,000 miles on the car now and the trans. occasionally slips. I won't trust it on another ride up to New Jersey. My mother brought the same car with the 3.8 engine and has had the head gasket problem twice and the trans problem once. This family will not buy another new ford product again. My wife picked this car and has been driving it since new. With two children the wagon works out great for long road trips and family outings. The third seat does come in handy every now and then when hauling extra kids. Unfortunately the convenience of the wagon is shadowed by the maintance problems and rough ride. Similar Products Used: I have a 1985 Toyota truck with 178,000 miles that runs like a dream. Toyota will be the next new purchase. |

everything else Biggest piece of garbage I ever owned. I bought the car with 32,000 miles on it, very clean. Within the 1st three weeks, I had to modify the A/C, replace the Oxygen sensors. Next came the starter. Speedometer cable squeeks. The car overheated continually. Replaced water pump, radiator, finally the head gaskets. Still overheats. I give up! Similar Products Used: None |
