Strength:

It looks nice.

Weakness:

The car. In the 87,000 miles my car has on it...it only got to 87,000 with the 3 transmissions of which 2 I had to pay for as ford basically said it ain't my problem at a cost of 2 at 1800 dollars a piece! Ford sucks. I will never buy another on again. They don't stand behind their product. Just look at whats happening to the new Ford Focus!

Read articles in 97 that said that this car was the best thing since swiss cheez they just forgot about all the holes in the this cars design.

Strength:

exterior and interior looks, roomy inside, good pickup, reliablity

Weakness:

gas mileage, but what do you expect for good pickup

I am very happy with my car. It looks good inside and out. The four cylinder has good pickup for moving around in traffic. It has been a very reliable car. The only problem I have had so far is leaking weather stripping around the driver door. I would recommend this car to anyone looking for a nicely priced mid sized car.

Strength:

Uh..you can depend on it to always have something in need of repair !

Weakness:

Well lets start at the front end, work back to the rear, and everything in between.

A big disappointment! I had this car 4 days and the brakes went out. One month later the check engine light came on. Had to have plugs and wires replaced. I have had this car since May of 2000. I have had 6 sets of plugs put in, the coil pack replaced, the brakes, sensors, window motor, fuel filter, switches, today was told that the transmission was gone,at the horrid price of $3000-3600. Also the vent covers have fell off,cup holders broke, glove box handle broke, carpet pulling away from sides, tag holder broke, fuel door sticks, trunk leaks, What next the engine! I will have them tow this money sucking piece of crap home,I refuse to spend one more dollar on it. Ford tough..ha..tough luck that I bought this junk.

Strength:

The interior is nice and it looks like a nice car.

Weakness:

All of the mechanical problems.

This has been a total waste of my money. I am not driving this car right and I haven't been for a year and a half. I now need a new engine. The half shaft broke 3 times and finally went through the engine. Before that I have fixed so many things. I can't afford to fix the engine. So I bought a $200.00 car and I am paying $232.90 a month. While I am driving some dented in Ford Tempo that leaks oil. It is horrible knowing I am paying for a car and can't drive it. My uncle tried to fix it good enough so I could go trade it in, but he couldn't he said it was a bad car. I had to work all these hours to pay for school, get my Ford Tempo because I spent so much money trying to fix my Mystiue. I was so excited when I first got this car. I thought I had my first good car. I was wrong. I just wish I had a good car something that didn't break down. It would cost me at least $5,000.00 to get a new engine and labor. That is what the Ford dealership told me. I don't hafe that kind of money lying around. Now I have to pay off school loans. I am now traveling for my job. So I can afford to get a decent car. They pay for everything so hopefully come october or november I can afford a 2-3 thousand dollar car. But who knows because I do have rent because I Had to move out of my mom's because we only have 3 rooms and there is three kids living there plus my parents and that wasn't enough room. So I really want to thank this company. Considering I almost had to drop out of school one semester because didn't have a way all the time. I would literally cry everyday. Thank you so much.

Strength:

Sporty good looks, V-6 engine, handling, comfort

Weakness:

Too many recalls (taken care of by dealer) and no problems other than recalls.

I don't understand the poor review for the Mystique! I love this car! Except for the Recalls(admittedly too many) I have had no problems. The recalls were immediately repaired by the Dealer. The car is over 4 years old and still looks new and runs great! It is a work of "Elegance and Beauty". I get compliments on it's sporty good looks very often. Perhaps some of these people don not take proper care of their Mystiques. I will keep this car forever!

Strength:

Nice looking mid-sized car. Handles well for being stock. Acelleration is good for a 4 banger. You can't complain about the 35 miles per gallon of gas.

Weakness:

Problems with the manual door locks, brake lights leak, check engine light likes to stay on.

About 2 years ago I bought a 1996 Mystique GS, what I thought was a very nice looking car, but after I hit 100,000 miles things changed. I had loss of power, the door locks broke, the dash started to fall apart, need I go on. All in all, I guess, the Mystique was worth most of the money that I had to stick into it. I still own the car today, and I'm still happy with it.

Model Reviewed: , GS 2liter 4 cyl.

Strength:

great gas mileage, comfortable seats, looks great, handles well, is relatively quick(even for a 4 cyl.), fun to drive

Weakness:

brake lights leak once in a while making my trunk wet, have to replace the brakes more often than other cars, slight vibration at high speed

Ever since I bought my Mystique I have loved it. I think the 99 models have fewer problems than the earlier ones, maybe Ford realized they were making crappy cars. I am happy with almost every aspect of the vehicle. I bought it with fewer than 10,000 miles on it and feel that I got a dgreat deal. I would reccomend the 99 year to anyone looking to buy a Mystique. This is not to say that it is without its problems, just like any other car. I keep it very clean inside and out and still get many compliments on how beautiful a car it is.

Strength:

Good handling, european feel and look, good value, good power for a 4 cylinder.

Weakness:

Poor quality of parts overall, in the shop more than it should be, and still needs to go back as it sits now! Also, poor gas milage for a 4 cylinder engine.

The car overall has a good feel, but littered with problems over the years. Here is a list of the problems that I have had: bad wheel alighnment causing a grinding noise when cornering right fan blower switch replaced twice bad vibration at idle, especially with the A/C running block heater leaked anti-freeze badly -- had to have engine replaced for that one, thankfully under warranty check engine light on airbag light flashes occassionally not so great gas milage for a 4 cylinder engine gas door freezes in winter preventing it from opening, even though it has not got wet previously clock light burned out prematurly door side light broke due to seatbelt got in the way once while closing the door

Brakes, struts, springs, gas door, transmission, cup holders, cigarette lighter, cubby hole door busted, glove box busted, shift knob busted, seats are crappy, no leg room, carpet is too small, paint flakes, engine over heats, eats gas, gas gauge doesn't work that well, rpms stick, shakes, i could say more but if you want to know more buy a mystique and find out for your self.

Nice car just built like junk. Some strengths and some weaknesses like all cars except this car is really a pice of junk dont buy it, get something else.

Strength:

Great 170hp V6 engine, sporty looks, firm ride, 4 wheel disc brakes, good size trunk

Weakness:

Reliabilty is low. Have had two oxygen sensors replaced - one under warranty, the other cost $450. Back seat room is terrible. Poor radio and speakers.

First time buying a Ford after owning only Toyotas and Hondas. Overall feel of car not nearly as refined as the Japanese cars. May not buy another Ford, although I am looking at the Escape or Tribute as a possibility for my next vehicle. Looked at Sunfire/Grand AM/Breeze as alternatives. Bought car after reading excellent review in Consumer Reports.
