Strength:
the optional rear spoiler looks cool
Weakness:
the automatic transmission....buy this car if you want a kick in the butt every time it shifts Well worth every penny paid for it. I received the car from a family member who wished to buy a new Lincoln, and she's lucky she did. At only 28,000 miles, I was plagued with problems only a month into driving the car. The automatic transmission has a consistent hard shift in just about ever gear transition. If that wasn't bad enough, the warranty service i've had performed on the car has made no improvement whatsoever. In fact, a mechanic friend found a trans fluid leak only weeks after the original dealer had worked on my transmission for the third time in two months. I've noticed the numerous recalls on the product already. Is it a wonder why Ford is no longer making the mystique and contour? Similar Products Used: n/a |

Good looking car,Rides nice and comfortable!
Weakness:
The Ford dealership has my car in there possesion more than I do it seema and they are very hard to deal with to boot...THey have no urgency with the problems, provide no loaners (even though they had my car for over 3 weeks at one time) Terrible! Well this car has had its engine replaced at 23k,been in the shop countless times for shakes and rattles, has peeling paint (thankfully covered under warrenty)still waiting to be done, has has its air conditioner replaced!!! Argh where do I begin to explain ???!! Similar Products Used: I owned a 1994 Chevy Lumina with 64k on it previous to this car..I traded it in on this piece of CRAP!! I wish I had kept my Lumina it was a very nice looking but RELIABLE car no major problems ever! |

It is a piece of crap that still needs major work it is not worth. Overpriced at any price - dont accept it as a gift even. I loathe this car. Avoid it like the plague it is. In the shop more often than not from day one, replacing Powertrain Control Module, oxygen sensors, and other pricy big ticket items. The negatove equity keeps me trapped in the damn thing. It shakes, it rattles, it rolls - like driving a mixmaster blender. The 4 cylinder is quite noisy and sluggish to boot. Not fuel efficient. When you look at www.contour.org, you will find a list of problems associated with the 4 cylinder Mystique that should scare you away - no small wonder that Ford and Mercury disconintued this problem riddled auto. The love letters posted are for the V-6 engine only. People pour money into these crummy cars trying to repair the numerous design flaws - very tricky to align because of a mis-design, for example. Cramped insidelike a tin can with many blind spots. I love automobiles and had to buy a car quickly because of pending surgery and a blown head gasket - I seriously have considered rebuilding the engine on my 1987 Century and cutting this car loose. Similar Products Used: Previous preferred cars are 1987 Buick Century Limited ( drove like a dream but a lot of electrical problems). 1979 AMC Spirit - compact but with a V-6 and turned on a dime, with more comfort in seats and head/leg room, a friendlier dash, and the cold cold air. |
