Strength:

Looks great, drives great, comfortable

Weakness:

how low it is to the ground, sometimes you do have to push kinda hard on the brakes to slow down, and other than that nothing

My Cougar, has so far been a great car (knock on wood)! I got in an accident after having my car for 4 months, but the Branco dealership did a great job fixing it back to new. My car totally turns many heads (it doesn't help being a blonde female though)!! I love driving it. I haven't found to many problems with my cougar yet. I recieved my grabber green cougar a couple of months before I recieved my license, and we went all out. My dad bought me my cougar with the whole package. Including a v6, leather seats, and a 6 disc cd changer. I would have to agree with everyone else, the cup holder does suck, but it works great for placing your cell phone in it. All my friends love my car, including my boyfriend who always wants to drive it. I would totally recomend this car for anyone who is looking for a new car, or anyone getting there first car. Just becareful how fast you go! I would also recomend getting XM radio (satellite radio), it brings driving and listening to music to a whole other level! It's great

Looks beautiful. Very fast car. Handles great. So fun to drive. Appropriatly priced.

Weakness:

difficult for elderly or heavy folks to get out of due to lowness. And oh yeah, that darn cupholder.

I LOVE my Cougar. Knock on wood. (after reading the reviews from other owners.) My check engine light, and coolant light have been going on and off a few times this last week. I read the manual which states that there may be condensation in the tank when you're close to the bottom of the tank. I added high octane fuel as recommended and the lights went out. This car is awsome to drive. I have two teenage daughters that love to be in it. It's a head turner, beautiful black car. I've taken it on washboard roads camping. 50 mph on a washboard road and handled great. Plenty of space for all my gear. Sometimes I let my husband drive it. He loves it too. Okay, I admit... That front cupholder does stink. I HATE that cupholder! I had to replace my front brakes at 34000 miles, but I live on a hill! The interior fabric dash, carpet all still look new. The paint still looks great. Everything is in great working order. Plenty of head room for my 6' husband.

It looks good!

Weakness:

Bad breaks coolant system tires have to be replaced every 20,000 miles Ford does not know how to help their customers

This car is the worst car I could ever imagine having! I have 50,000miles on it and the breaks have been replaced 7 times, my motor mounts broke, the coolant light is constantly coming on, and the dealership can't explain what is wrong with my car. Ford gave me an extended warranty, but I'd rather just have a different car!

Handling, look, fun to drive.

Weakness:

MECHANICS: Gas pump, transmission hose. Stabilizer bar, Macpherson struts, windshield, CD player. Make sure to get the Extended Warranty.

I am looking for winter tires for my car. Everyone seems to recommend different size tires including the dealers and the Head office!! Since I already have the 16" mags, I'd like to get 16" winter tires. I know that the P215 50 R16 doesnt exist for winter but one Ford dealer recommended P215 60 R16, even though the door sticker doesnt mention it. If anyone has any suggestions, please email me. Otherwise, it's a very fun car to drive considering the $$$ I have put into it already. It's a good thing I purchased the (Extra) Extended Warranty since it already payed for a new gas pump, my new Macpherson struts, and the stabilizer bar. Unfortunately a transmission oil leak cost cost me 300$ to replace the hose (not covered for some stupid reason). Now, my low coolant light turns on when it feels like it even though the level is fine. My windshield cracked 3 weeks after I bought the car, for an unknown reason, but my insurance payed for a new one. CD player always skips on small bumps. Weak windshield washer jet (dirties the glass even more in winter!). Trunk never opens properly with latch. Up till now, a reasonable car for the price. It's American so problems are inevitable!!

Long lasting, strong/ durable

Weakness:

Does have wear and tear that needs to be fixed

I got my car with 48,000 miles on it. All in all I really LOVE the car...it's my baby! Every kind of car manufactured has some duds and I don't think the things that people have complained about on here should keep you from getting the car. I have had to get some things done, but every car with wear and tear does! So far I have had to replace the alternator and brakes and tires, and that is all (knock on wood) and now my car is at 100,360 miles! I drove this car from Minnesota to California and the only problem I had was going up the mountains in Colorado. My car had been running for 24 hours straight and didn't want to go up the hills more than 40 mph until I gave it a couple hour break. The gas mileage traveling across country was great, I made it through almost the whole state of Utah without getting gas. I drive it approximately 30 miles a day and my tank lasts me about 2 weeks. I got in a small accident 3 days after I got the car, the car in front of me whipped a U-turn, not realizing I was behing them. Needless to say I hit them on their drivers side door at about 20 mph and their car door wasn't able to be opened. I bent my fender a little bit, put a crack in my headlight cover and had some scratches and a small hole in the bumper. I feel safe in this car even though it is so small. The cup holder does suck, I have had many things spill, usually my friends knocking it over though. Something w/ out a lid can easily be put in the back cup holder. There is a lot of trunk space considering what it looks like. I now wish I would've gotten leather seats to make it look classier and more expensive, but the car suits me well! Good for people that can take care of their vehicles and get regularly scheduled maintenance.

Strength:

looks good lots of room inside(for me anyway!) reliable good gas mileage

Weakness:

cup holder manufacturers don't stand behind their word

I have had no problems with my car except for a stud corroding by the exhaust pipe causing my muffler to sound a little loud. I do agree with previous posts about the front cup holder -- it sucks! But other than that I love the car. I do however wish I would have purchased a V6 (instead of the 4 cyl.) only for the fact that I've never had a V6 car before. The car turns a lot of heads and I receive a lot of compliments on it. I could care less about the back seats --I"m not sitting in them and if anyone ever would complain I'm sure they would change their mind about the comfort when given the option to walk instead. I find the car to be a good size inside but then again I'm only 5'0 tall so it suits me.

Great comfortable builty in the front seats. Great at getting up to speed. Nice looking car, esspecially the headlights.

Weakness:

That there always seems to be a light on telling you something is wrong.

I love my little cougar, but after reading everyone elses review I can't help but agree. I have had my check engine light come on and off for the past 3 months and no one can tell me what is wrong. Just today my low coolant light came on even though my coolant level is at the max. I had to have the altenator replaced, the moonroof fixed, and the door locks kept fluttering so I had to lock it manually. the back seats are not comfortable to sit in. And yes the cup holder in the front doesn't hold anything. Although it is great at getting up to speed and quite comfortable front seats. I just wish that Ford/Mercury would build reliable cars like Toyota or Nissian does.

Handling, High Speed Acceleration, Looks, If you maintain it ( Oil,Tires standard maint. ) it will treat you right.

Weakness:

Cup Holder is faulty, Road noise can be a little heavy ( rumble from the road ).

I LOVE my Cougar, I have had it for a little over a year and a half, and put over 50k miles on it. I have had no major repair unless you include new tires.. which were replaced due to my amount of driving. I did have to replace the alternator once, but I also have a high end stero system installed in my car which wasn't properly grounded. Aside from that the car purrs like a Kitten, handles amazingly, and is very peppy. The only thing I would like to complain about is the driver cup holder, if U put a fast food drink that is top heavy in it, its gaurnteed to tip over, owner hint: Use the back seat cup holder :-). I do notice a large ambient noise from the road especially over rough patches of road, but It does give me a 'feel' for the road that I've come to enjoy.

Strength:

Very stylish, good looking car, both inside and out. Steering, handling, acceleration is good. Drives nicely.

Weakness:

Noisy interior especially on highways, limited interior space, difficulty getting in and out of rear seats, lousy cup holders.

Despite its sharp looks and handling capabilites, I have several complaints about this car. The interior space is very limited in the front (I'm 5'2" and my head almost touches the ceiling), and not much leg room in the rear. The cup holders are horrible. The trunk latch always sticks. I'm on my 3rd alternator and I only have 50,000Km (approx 30,000miles?) on this car. Overall....beautiful car, fun to drive, but not worth the hassles, and not very reliable.
