airbag problems My car is BEAUTIFUL. I agree that the cup holder and trunk latch suck. There is just one other thing that sucks. Don't count on the airbags. I hit someone head on at about 40 m/p/h, and they never went off. I've heard alot of stories about cougar airbags not going off. Apparantly the sensors aren't on the bumper, like in most cars. They're somewhere ridiculous that would never be triggered. If anyone else has experienced the same problem, please post it. Similar Products Used: none really |

Could use a bigger engine. Could use the 3.0l V6 from the Taurus line. Has a blindspot in the back. Better center console - remove cup spiller (holder). Handles great, as if it were on rails in the corners. I am 6'2" and I feel comfortable in it(Front only!). More room than a 'Stang. Looks are awesome. Great mileage, few problems at 65,000Kms. Strength:
Great steering, durable, great heat and air conditioning. Smooth ride for such an old car.
Weakness:
Gas Mileage. If I drive back roads it does ok, but city driving guzzles gas.
Similar Products Used: Chevy Celebrity. The Chevy was my first car and it was terrible. I put at least $250 a month into that car for repairs. Problems from day one. |

Buick Regal Grand Sport
Strength:
Handling, comfort, value, styling, all the creature features, great stereo with cd/cassatte and concert sound, rear opera seating, buit in child seat, comfy power front seats, smooth yet sporty ride. Decent gas mileage, cheaper than those darned imports to maintain!!! I have been looking at other cars to purchase (which will not be soon) and I can not find anything I like compared to my Regal. Far more fun then any other 4 door.
Weakness:
The doors creak, and the window molding leaves black residue on the glasswhen yoou roll the windows down. Must have been the type of rubber used.? I have lubricated the doors myself as well as the Buick Dealer as I follow the General Motors maintainance schedule. Also wish the drivers seat leather would wear better, but leather in cars tends to wear a little on the drivers seat. Has had to have the usual servicing which is nothing to complain about. Replaced alternator, and turn signal switch in the steering column. All under extended warranty. My biggest problem is what color to buy next? I bought this car used as I believe it is stupid to buy a brand new car that depreciates Thousands of dollars the minute you drive it off the lot! I have driven many, MANY makes and models of cars working for a rental company. This car is far superior in handling and suspension compared to many other sedans. It has the classy Buick Styling that is luxurious, yet sporty. I have the *poster car* that seems to be in every Buick ad for the GS. It's Black with the Silver Bottom and Gray leather. The same as the one Tiger Woods supposedly drives on tv. :) I am a very particular person at a young age. I am very pickey about my cars and this one has held up to my excpectations quiet well. I have read many other rieviews and have seen many good reviews as well as negative ones. I believe if a car is maintained propery (including washing and waxing) it will last a very long time. Overall this is a great car, excellent acceleration, comfortable seating (front and rear). All gauges are easy to read from the speedometer to the digital climate control and driver information center. If you can't operate these things maybe you shouldn't be driving an automobile at all. Drivers of all ages should certainly consider the Buick. Wouldn't you really rather have a Buick? :) Similar Products Used: Like I said I can't find anything I like better, maybe Buick could put me in a commercial with "Tiger" LOL ..........:) I am also very happy with the Service at Kendrick Buick!!! Thanks guys and gals! |

Cougar V6 5speed
Strength:
Pretty strong motor, It doesnt feel all that fast, but I actually had the car to 141mph once..And I have ran with a couple of 4.6 Mustang GT's in it.(They are slow anyhow)
Weakness:
Reliability, expensive parts, The car is a very fun car to drive, I bought the car for a present for my wife after she totalled her Subaru SVX. Despite the problems we have had, its still a blast to drive around. We have had numerous problems with the car. The alternator went out the day we got it, a month later the brake lights stuck on and the cruise went out, we had it repaired under warranty, and it went out again 2 weeks later. We got that fixed, and until 3 months ago, it was a pretty good car. The cupholder sucks, but its a Ford..About 3 months ago it started acting up, wouldnt rev past 3000 rpm when low on fuel, and died on us a few times, Now it only has 50,000 miles on it, but it turns out the Fuel Pump went bad on it. Of course this wasnt covered since the warranty is over, so I just dumped 600 bucks into the most expensive fuel pump I have ever seen..We are about to sell the car. Similar Products Used: For the money, this car has alot of great features, and well outperforms most of the competition in its class.. |

Cougar XR7
Strength:
Strong off the line acceleration. Cheap insurance and easy to maintain. Getting on any onramp is a breeze. The paint on my pearl white cougar is the best paint I have ever seen.
Weakness:
Has had 2 elecritcal problems which involved replacement of 2 fiber optic cables, and one strut replacement. The car also gives off an old man vibe, which a twenty year old doesn't particularly enjoy. Overall this has been a great first car for me. It has gotten me out of a lot of situations that I shouldn't have gotten into. For one thing the brakes work great which I found out 2 weeks after ownership. The V8 is strong and gets you where you need to go. The interior is comfortable and is basic, but gets the job done. I suggests putting a K&N filter in because it gives more power and much better gas mileage. Just the other day I averaged 23 miles to the gallon which has never happened before. The car has 85000 miles on it and still drives as well as when I first bought it. I have had to service the car a few times, but not much more than any other car. Anyone who wants a great car for a cheap price should definetely drive a 95 cougar. Similar Products Used: Drove a Honda Accord which was not as good at accelerating, but you can't beat the reliability. |

- 4 cyl., manual
Strength:
Looks - interior and exterior, power, handling. Lots of questions from people as to how I like it. Many are surprised when I say I love it. There is a common misconception that they are garbage cars and that is why Ford is pulling the plug on them. Not true at all, Ford did a really horrible job on promoting these vehicles and as such sales never were what was expected.
Weakness:
Replaced bald Firestone tires after 30,000 miles. Love it. Good handling, lots of room (in front at least, who cares about the backseat passengers anyways). Surprising power from the 4 cyl mated to the manual. Lots of people slammed it for lack of power but I find it just fine. Lots of hatch room (especially for large amounts of stereo equipment). I'm a 21 year old student and I think that they are perfect for anyone in the Cavalier/Sunfire/Neon market. There is no comparison really, a Cougar is just a better car. Similar Products Used: 90 Celica GT - very close to the same car, totally comparable |
