Strength:
nice pick-up, steady handling, suede interior very comfortable, unique--not oversold--beautiful chrome wheels (17")perfect body styling.
Weakness:
durability of power seats (I traded a 97 millenia for this one)and the drivers seat rocked a bit as time wore on. hope the transmission holds up better than my 97 (replaced at 65,000). expensive to repair after warranty is up. Would be better if it had cup holders/ etc.. in rear fold-down arm rest i got a demo millenium edition 2000 for $24,700.00. i love the 6-disc in dash bose stereo. So far, i'd recommend it to everyone, but then it would be just as common as the Camry/Accord or Lexus/Acura types. Great buy instead of paying for what everyone else has, and a beautiful bodystyle like none other. Strength:
This is a great looking, well-built car with a terrific engine. I got the 2-tone Pearl white color with the tan on the bottom and it is really a beauty. The leather interior and Bose sound system are great. The air conditioner works very well, something important in Texas during the summer. The car drives and handles like a pure sports car and I really like the fact that you don't see one on the road too often. Here it seems like everyone you pass has a Lexus, BMW, Mercedes or Acura. I get lots of looks when I go buy. I've driven them all and it favorably compares with any of them. Mazda discounts make the Millenia S the best buy on the market right now. Fit and finish is excellent.
Weakness:
The cup holders suck and need to be redesigned. Also, the gas mileage could be better around town. Resale may not be as strong as with some of the other near-luxury models but that wasn't a big issue for me since I plan to keep it for at least 5-10 years. Paid just 25,000 loaded and brand new. Highly recommend it. You can get one for the price of a loaded Camery or Accord and it is a much cooler car which is built every bit as well as either one of the others - I know, I've had both! I love it and will buy another when I'm ready. The Mazda dealer here has an excellent rep and provides excellent service - which is not the case for some of the dealers of the other cars I looked at. Similar Products Used: Lexus E300, Toyota Avalon, Acura TL, BMW 328i. It is more fun to drive than any but the BMW, and I got it $10,000 cheaper than a similarly equipped BMW. |

Strength:
Good looking, smooth ride, nice interior, well appointed.
Weakness:
Acceleration, sound system(I updated it with a wood grain Pioneer unit. It matched the wood dash exactly and Boston Acoustics speakers)no memory seats, leg room, Paid 23k brand new with every possible option except bose available. This is a nice car, but it does lack performance. It really is just a fancy 626 (same drivetrain). If I had the opportunity to do over then I would have gone with the 'S' model. But it is an attractive car, handles well, quiet, and smooth. I don't think I could have gotten anything better for 23k. I have been noticing a lot more on the road lately, so it appears that the price drop has had an effect on sales. So far I have had no problems with the car. Its been perfect. Millenia S
Strength:
Styling, steering, handling, uniqueness of Miller Cycle engine, and overall fit and finish
Weakness:
High repair costs (parts) that lead to higher than average insurance costs, poor cupholders, weak door panel securing snaps (break off too easily), and smallish rear seats Bought used 3 years ago for $13k with 70k miles. Spent $2.5k on tires, a host of neglected maintenance (belts, hoses, filters, CV boots, brakes, etc.), and one very hard to find electrical gremlin (loose ground). Now it runs like a dream. High reflex deep green metallic paint is now showing its age but the body is otherwise gorgeous. The Millenia is one of the most beautifully sculpted vehicles on the road. Handling is very responsinve and steering is almost as telepathic as my 94 Miata. The S model's Miller-Cycle engine pulls like crazy for such small displacement. I'm not sure how it works, but is does. Fuel economy is about the 20-24mpg in real world driving, but you have to use Premium (91 octane or greater). Mazda dropped the price on the S last year $5k to about $30k loaded. That's less than ES300 or I30 but a touch more than the new Passat or TL. Would recommend this vehicle for anyone who appreciates genuine performance and luxury, as opposed to someone more impressed by the brand on the grill. Similar Products Used: More Teutonic (i.e. more driving oriented) than a Lexus ES300 or Infiniti I30 and a better value. Tough call compared to a loaded example of the latest VW Passat or Acura TL. |

Strength:
Styling, quiet ride, uniqueness (not too many on the road),comfortable seats, Bose stereo, great handling, thick steering wheel fits in your hands well, Lexus-like service from the Mazda dealer in Abilene, Texas.
Weakness:
Very poor resale value since the onslaught of SUVs, interior door panels tend to come off their snaps easily, not enough power with the standard V6, not enough leg room for the driver (center console rubs against the driver's right leg causing aggravation) Paid $18,500 for it with only 30,000 miles on the odometer. The warranty covered 5 years or 60,000 miles (good luck finding that on an American product!) so we got a few cosmetic things fixed when we bought it. After 3 years and almost 90,000 additional miles, a new radiator, new brakes, new valve-cover gaskets and plug wires, I must say that the damn thing still runs great! My wife got T-boned on the passenger side and we only had to replace the 2 passenger side doors since no damage was done to the frame. Incredibly sound, smooth and solid car! Very well built and it surprises everyone who rides in it to know that it's a Mazda. The Bose system is terrific (at least until I heard the Nakamichi in the new Lexus!) Similar Products Used: Roomier than the 94 Mustang we originally owned but not as roomy as the new Honda Odyssey we just bought. |

Strength:
The sleek design and premium wheels are a plus. Impressive body design. Roomy interior, in fact the interior is so large that one would be fooled by judging it from the outside. Car drives smooothly.
Weakness:
There are some things to consider when buying this car. I found that one major disadvantage to this car is that it seems like it was made from the outside to look good but blew all of the engineering priciples out the window when designing the interior. The car has major blind spots for being such a large car. This is due to a back rear panel where the back window and the door window meet. It is awkward looking out of the car when trying to pass. The car also sways a bit when on the highway. Also, the steering is too loose feeling, you dont feel the road. A 210 hp engine is not something to boast about on the s model compared to a car like the buick regal that comes with a standard 200 hp V6.(not reccomending the buick, just an example) I would recommend this car despite the negative comments mentioned above only if you are looking for a nice luxury car that looks good. This car is the most beautiful car ive seen from a distance. Similar Products Used: Acura RL |

resale value I got this wonderful car after selling Accord 95 LX. I have been used this for three monthes. I have been realized this is real wonderful car since there is no niosy and no mechinical problem. I feel great sporty and good cornering. Alghout it lacks a little power when I drive slope, I fully satisfied with this car. Similar Products Used: VW passat |

Strength:
communicative steering, goood handling for such a large car, style, price, well balanced chassis, quality parts amoung mazda vehicles
Weakness:
refinement, dated cabin, firm ride, noise, rear passanger space, brand image, poor sound with door closing, inadequate engine torque, thin side panels leading to numerous dents Before I bought the millenia (Eunos 800 in HongKong), I testdrived several cars in the same price range including Peugoet406 2.0, camry 3.0, Maxima 2.0.and Accord 2.3 This is most fun of all. Handling is manificant with easy handling. In HK, a standard BMW 523i cost more than double the cost. Still, not many are seen in the street because people here are too brand sentivive, always trusting on Honda and Toyota alone. Similar Products Used: mitsubishi diamante V6 3.0 |
