Strength:

Great cost, Gas Milage, Good service and warranty at Ken Garf, low insurance cost and alright power(for what it is).

Weakness:

Easy scratch and dent. Low ride that bottoms out easy and a trunk that is quite loud when closing.

I bought this car because of cost, warranty and gas milage. It was $11,700 out the door(tax, title and licence included). The dealership was great and was the best price and the nicest in the Salt Lake area. It has less power than my sport bike but more than my POS Chevy S-10 PU that broke down every month. Needless to say that I didn't buy a race car cause I have the bike for that. I followed the break in procedure recommended in the manual and now get between 39-43 MPG on trips. Around town I get 34-36 MPG. I take it in to Ken Garf Hyundai in Salt Lake to have it serviced cause of the distance from my house but they are great too. I had a knocking on breaking and they found a bolt that had loosened up after 2000 miles. No charge, the service was fast and they washed my car for me. I have had two services there and the price was good the service was fast and they washed my car again(much better than Larry H. Miller Chevy in Salt Lake). The car fits a lot in it if you pull down the seats(I go camping and fishing a lot and while I can't get as much in as a truck it does pretty good for a small compact). It is kind of loud inside but not as loud as a Saturn. The car is low and bottoms out pretty easy and it does dent and scratch easy.

Strength:

Price. Very undervalued car. Warranty. Customer service with Earnhardts. Powerful A/C.

Weakness:

Very low. Should angle coming off of uneven surfaces. Marginal stereo and speaker system.

I test drove the hyundai accent and was very impressed with the room it provided me for such a compact car. My main concern, being from Arizona, was the A/C and overall road performance. Both supassed my expectations. The 5-speed manual was very smooth and natural. The pickup, even with the A/C running, was fine. I had no trouble w/ freeway or surface streets. I purchased a base, no frills car that I enjoy driving.

Strength:

Good gas mileage, reliable.

Weakness:

Had to get a new water pump within 8 months, but was covered by warranty. DENTS VERY EASILY. Don't breathe on it too hard or park it within 4 blocks of any other cars or you might wake up to find a fist-sized dent in your door.

Nice, affordable, compact, Fun car.

Strength:

Fun to drive
Good responsiveness
Good gas mileage
Stereo
Good brakes
Good pickup with one person in the car.

Weakness:

Paint
Warrenty
Clutch cable squeeks no matter how many times you have it lubed
Clutch barring has been replaced, and is starting to rattle again
Tires are too thin.
Dents easy from other car doors.
Cargo area clip cover that lifts when hatch opens broke the first time I removed it.
Bad pickup with more then one person in the car.

Overall this car has been quite reliable, is fun to drive, has good responsiveness. Hyundai Warrenty is a bunch of garbage. I have had problems with clouded paint on the roof and they tell me that it is from the weather and as such it is not covered under the paint coverage plan. It started to cloud after six months. I always keep the car parked in the shade, and I wax it periodically. Also since I paid the car off early they lost me in their records so it was impossible to get roadside assistance when I needed it.

This is the third hyundai that I have owned. The first was a 1988 Hyundai Excel that was not used to often, but once it went over 50,000 miles it fell apart. The second was a 1991 Hyundai Scoupe. The car drove good, but the paint completely faded. It looked like someone dumped acid on the car (I spoke to the dealer about this before I bought the 98, and he assured me that the problem was fixed with the 98 model. These guys must go to liar school). I was in an accident with this car. I hit a Volvo at 30 Mph and totaled the car. I was completely safe though. Not even one bruise.
