Strength:

Strong, smooth, 2.2 litre h22a4 engine Good gas mileage Tight steering and handling reliability Build quality and design Suspension brakes acceleration auto tranny not bad at all just take care of it though, dont run the stuff out of it and expect it to hold up for the long run you can see everything going on on the road from the drivers seat no blind spots envious look for civic, accord, integra drivers ha ha everyone has those dang cars Very rare car nowadays

Weakness:

low end torque rattling for headliner shock knock in the rear ugly plastic on bottom if you dont have factory body kit. no fifth gear on auto tranny ride can get choppy on rough roads

Overall I think this is one of the top three cars honda has ever made. Definitely better than Civic Si and Integra GSR. The engine is a thing of beauty. Its one of the biggest, baddest VTEC engines honda made at 2.2 litres. I got this car for a ridiculously low price for the shape it was in. Only had 26,000 miles on it and the only person that rode in it was the guy that drove it before me. He never even had anyone else sit in it besides him! It looked like a brand new car that just rolled off the assembly line. I dont see how he took such good care of it. I have added some things like a Kenwood touchscreen tv, some subs, headers, intake, catback exhaust. I take care of my stuff so my car still runs and looks like brand new and its a 97. The only bad thing is its an auto, i couldnt find a 5 speed with low miles on it for a good price so i said screw it. It still flies. I have almost 50000 miles on it with no problems. This car is no ferrari but i can hang with cars that have much bigger engines aka v-8 gas guzzlers but dont expect to beat em. I like showing civics accord and integras whose boss though.

Model Reviewed: Prelude Coupe

Strength:

rigid frame extremely strong and reliable engine reduces speed quickly during panic stops

Weakness:

heating was not that great

I'm 18 now and when I first seen the honda prelude I was 13 years old. From the first time I saw it, it caught my eye. I learned more and more about the car bumper to bumper specs. I had never driven one until I turned 18, and I took one on a test drive. It was a 2001 Base Coupe with 39,000 miles on it. I wanted the car so badly but I couldn't get the loan to finance it. Finally after searching and applying for loans for at least 2 months I was approved for a hunter green 1999 Base Coupe with (yeah its high but what the hell its a lude) 73,000 miles. I picked it up at the dealer ship on a saturday in conniticute and after 30 minutes of driving down the highway I crashed into a concrete barrier at 25-30 mph. I was pushing 115 mph switched into the right lane in the rain and lost the back end of the car, swerved 4-5 times then hit the barrier (yes very stupid!) My dad was right behind me when it happend and my girlfriend was in the passenger seat. Air bags deployed, ambulance, fireman, and state troopers came, big F****** mess! Good news car started right up and still sounded beautiful. $10,000 worth of damages to front of the car (bumper, grill, hood, headlights, radiator etc.) I got so close to the engine that the heat shield on the exhaust manifold was bent an inch. The car is fixed and running beautifully, but I still can't believe it I still had the damn dealer plates on it!

Model Reviewed: Prelude SI 4WS

Strength:

*4WS *The horsepower *Very comfortable

Weakness:

*Discontinued *Front-wheel drive

The honda prelude is an overall great car. The 4-wheel steering (4ws) is my favorite feature of the car. With 4WS the car a lot better handling and it has a much shorter turning radius. On most cars if you turn too sharp too fast, your car slides forward since it's front-wheel drive instead of turning when it should, however with the 4ws system your car doesn't slide as far forward. I love my car, it's overall a great car.

Strength:

Fantastic SH (ATTS) perfomance. Interior (lil tight) and exterior. With modifications could eat up the WRX or Lancer evo. great H-way speed.

Weakness:

lack of torque. limited interior space (If ur a giant ur out of luck). Honda had to end its model.

I started with 1991 4WS si at 1st. Was the best car of that year and I had lots of memory with it, "Love u Lucille"! Ever since I am a big fan. Bought the 2001 SH, got it down to a good price. Damn dealers! NO modification is done with "Lucille 2", it's not worth it losing its value since it is the last model and the end of the lude era. But instead got the S2000 as a project car. I still pick the lude over the S2000 due to SH handling and looks. I am upset that Honda didn't do very well to keep the prelude in the market. For all those prelude drivers. Well, one thing I like to say, "Ride it with pride. Don't let anyone push u around". My 91 4ws "Lucille" was a Acura, VW, BMW, Audi, Mitsubishi and Subaru eater.

Strength:

wide ,low slung look great paint finish stong engine that responds quick VTEC changeover reliable honda

Weakness:

no usable backseat. stiff stearing. needs premium ( i don't mind ) some cabin noise from vinyl on the roof.

In short, this is a great car with a decent amout of power to compliment its looks. It lacks torque in its bottom end , but if you keep the revs high it is a blast to drive. the VTEC camshaft profile changeover sounds really badass especially with an aftermarket intake. there are very few cars out there that offer 200HP from a naturally aspirated 2.2lt engine. no turbos , no supercharger just a well built engine that has unmatchted reliability and upgrade potential. I'm sick of people complaining about the backseat. Don't buy a sports coupe if you plan on packing your robust friends and family in it for outings. This car has a really nice color to it (silver, blue) and it is a quality paint job, people ask me about my "new" honda all the time and when I tell them its a six year old car they can't believe it. I have a very tastfull ground effects kit on it from wings west and it looks really nice and low slung. this car has a huge aftermarket following so you will have no problem setting yours apart from the crowd ( i see lots of preludes here in NJ , but south of here and west i see them rarely ) the weaknesses are: the steering is kind of stiff for my liking more so in the cold weather, and if you drive it hard it burns a little oil( not too much).

Reliable and fun. That is a Prelude for you. I have always enjoyed the HOnda Preludes. My first Prelude was a 1989 2.0 SI. I was so imprest by the car that I bought this '99.I curently bought a 1999 Prelude.p I found this 1999 Black Prelude with black leather. As enthusiasts know that Preludes only came with leather if you orderd them from the factory like that. Can you see why I pick it up so quick? The Preludes are exelent cars, I would recomend them to anyone that is looking for a sports car. They have so many modifications for the acar so that you can coustonmize it to however you desire.

Strength:

Sleek good looks. Great power. Tight tranny. Solid suspension and handling.

Weakness:

No a/c. Suspension so tight it is brutal over rough roads. Small wheels and tires. Old so I need a new one, maybe a 97 sh.

Honda, Honda, Honda. What more can you say. This car is a beast. My prelude is 13 years old with 190K, and I still blast by anybody I want to. As long as you keep the revs high the power is very adequate, and the handling is so tight around corners you find yourself leaning into them. The only thing wrong with this car is the awfully small 13" wheels. With bigger wheels and tires this car would stick to the road as if glued there.

Strength:

EVERYTHING! The 195hp engine, easily has enough power to lay down the law when you want to, or pass a semi on the highway. LOTS of trunk space. The 5spd tranny is awesome, handling is a dream, I can't say enough good things

Weakness:

The stock Bridgestone Potenza RE92 tires that come with the car are AWEFUL! They suck, but I replaced them with a set of Z-rated Falken's, and what a difference!! Other than that, the backseat is useless, so don't plan on having adults in the back.

I bought this car almost 8 months ago, and it is by far the best car I've EVER driven or owned. No question about it, TONS of power, every option you could ever want. Anyone thinking of buying this car, do it. You won't be sorry. I haven't had one problem since I bought it. It has over 131,000kms and is still going strong. What a beautiful car, congrats to Honda, even though they discontinued it... =(

Weakness:

- the 'back shelf' well this does save you from giving ur buddies rides every where. (Can i get a ride? Sure, but you're in the back. O.. I'll find a ride w/ sumone else) - watch for rust around rear wheel wells

This has outstanding reliablity. The car has 325k km's on it yet it still starts everytime, the first time. The Prelude delievers great fuel economy, ( specially w/ the gas price trends :(. This car is great even if you're 6'4" as the front seats deliever great leg room and the bucket seats fit like a glove. Flat out though, this car is just fun to drive. It has great handling and while it does not have the most power (1.8L 110 hp twin carb) it is by no means a slow car. This is a great first car as it sports awesome reliability, decent fuel economy and decent looks to boot. Preventative matience is always your best friend.
