Honda Civic (2010 and older) Midsize | Compact

Honda Civic (2010 and older) Midsize | Compact

DESCRIPTION

The Civic is Honda’s compact car that is offered in sedan and coupe versions. First introduced as a small, inexpensive hatchback in 1972, the Civic has increased in size during its lifetime while continuing to offer excellent fuel economy. The entire Civic line was all-new for 2006.

The basic Civic is available as a sedan and coupe and comes in several trims: DX, DX-VP, LX-S, EX and EX-L. The Civic SI, the performance-oriented trim, offers 57 more horsepower than the base model, a few more performance options and a starting price of around $7,000 more than the base Civic.

The Civic also comes in two eco-friendly options: the Honda Civic Hybrid, which is reviewed separately, and the GX, a hybrid alternative that runs on Compressed Natural Gas. Unfortunately the GX is only sold in California (and other states that have accepted California's Zero-Emission Vehicle regulations). It costs about $10,000 more than a base Civic.

Strength:

Gas mileage Low maintenance repairs Look good High resale value

Weakness:

None

I bought the car in 1999 with 190000Km on it and it now has 250000Km. The car has great gas mileage which was a good thing considering that I was a student at the time. As far a maintenance is concerned I've only had to change the normal wear an tear parts like muffler, a wheel bearing, CV joint only because I didn't put the boot strap on properly and dirt got in to it. In the three years that I've owned the car I have only put about $700 (CAN) in repairs on the car which I think is very impressive considering the age and the mileage on the car. I look forward to purchasing another honda in the future.

Reliability, Gas Mileage and zippy to drive around town despite mine not have but 110 horsepower!

Weakness:

Vinyl tears, No A/C in the DX model!

I bought my 95 when it was 3 years old. It has never given me any grief, EVER! I previously owned a 1981 Civic Hatchback, which ran FOREVER, finally it died allowing me to buy another car. I am in the process of selling my Civic to buy something else. The only things I have had replaced in the Civic is the battery and the tires. It has 100,000 miles on it. I have not replaced the timing belt and was told it is due about 90,000 miles, but it is a Civic, it won't need to be done until about 110,000 miles. I get on average in town about 31 mpg and on the highway about 35 mpg. Great economy car. The interior has held up extremely well, no tears in the fabric, although the vinyl on the lower part of the front drivers seat (behind the calves of your legs) tore, that is one thing that annoys me about vinyl. I currently have duct tape on it, but need to fix it. If I were to buy another economy car it would most likely be a Honda Civic just because I have had two and they have run forever and I know I can depend on them.

Strength:

-Comfortable seats -sporty looking -decent on gas -fits 4 comfortably

Weakness:

-body dents easily so don't park to close to anyone! -A/C takes a lonnnnng time to cool u down. -Slow on the take off.

The civic coupe in general is not too bad but if you are looking for something w/ power than this isn't the car for you. You would expect that the "SIG" meant something but it means sh*t. Anyways, it drives alright and it's okay on gas (not the best). For those deciding b/w an LX or SI model, spend less $$$ and pick the LX!!!

This car lasts forever. You can put about four hundred thousand miles on it before it will go dead. Another thing is gas efficentcy. It saves so much money it is not even funny. This car is all around perfect.

Weakness:

The only weakness is that it is a 1.6 liter(four cyclinder)engine.

The Honda Civic is a great car. More people buy civics than any other car around. They contain one of the best engines around called the v-tech. This engine will live as long as the energizer bunny. It is the all time best cra i have ever purchased in my life. The rating that it got on this web site is insane. It should be higher than that;4.6 or 4.7.

HI revving all motor engine excellent maintenance

Weakness:

low end torque thief magnet the seat is positioned too high

DOHC VTEC,100 HP per Liter,8000 rpm redline..i know i know you've heard this a lot of times, ive driven a lot of cars such as 01 Celica GT,Mitsubishi 02 Eclipse GT,00 Ford Mustang (v6),02 Civic Si Hatch and the Base RSX although all of these mentioned cars cost more than the Si none of these can outperform the b16 powered Si,this car is more proven than hype it doesnt choke on high rpms like most cars, handling is superb, maintenance is excellent i never had any problems so far and i dont think i will as long as i take good take care of it,biggest complain is the low torque output of the vehicle, and the fact that the 99-00 Si is one of the most coveted cars by thief.
