Crown Victoria LX
Strength:
Smooth, luxurious, quiet, not bad looking, and very fast for it's size... the Crown Victoria is a vehicle built to last forever, and I believe that there is no other American car built to the tolerances that the Crown Victoria and sister Mercury Grand Marquis are built to.
Weakness:
Some poor plastic pieces on the interior, noisy air conditioning, EXPENSIVE exhaust system, and the terrible AOD transmission on this early model year car. The car has been excellent overall. I've owned the vehicle since it had 55,000 miles and I had no problems with the vehicle until an accident at 90,000 miles. Even slamming a concrete wall at 45mph couldn't kill it! I drove the vehicle home and have, besides the paint, spent only $250 to completely fix the vehicle. The engine is fantastic, but the transmission is horrible; but not to fault the Crown Victoria... my particular car has the archaic AOD transmission that was dropped halfway through the model year for the much better AODE. The interior has been excellent, other than the poor boot around the base of the column shift; nothing has gone wrong in the interior that I wouldn't classify as "normal wear and tear". The exterior is tough, and dents and dings seem to be less common on this vehicle than any others in my household. The Twilight Blue paint is horrible, as is typical with most Ford paint of this vintage; it has been shot for years already. The air conditioning clutch is shot, but this is not unacceptable wear on a 10 year old vehicle. The V8 is a strong motivator, seems to produce more horsepower than it is listed at. The car is extremely quiet and comfortable, though road noise at Hwy speeds on this 1992 model is excessive compared to newer luxury vehicles. Strength:
Head Room, comfort, large trunk, ramp up, passing and cruising speeds
Weakness:
Replaced Seat twice, burns oil,Clear coat peeling and I am told there is no hidden warranties offered by Ford. If any one knows of one please let me know. I have enjoyed driving this vehicle overall.I had owned the land barges of the 60's and 70's and vowed I would never subject myself to a gas guzzler again. The older I got the more room I wanted and needed so I got back into the large car purchase.I was surprised that this car gave me fairly good gas milage and comfort. Similar Products Used: None |

Crown Victoria LX
Strength:
POWER - POWER - POWER. Even the standard model has power galore, but mine has even more. Handeling has been exceptional. Who would have believed that a car this heavy could take 65MPH turns in a controled rear wheel drift and come out perfect every time?
Weakness:
The interior plastic trim pieces are junk. This is my only complaint. I purchased this vehicle when its original owner got a brand new 2001 model. His being a performance buff has been a great bonus for me. The handling and performance options that I would have done were already in place and the results were even better then I had anticipated. The K&N filters, Police Interceptor computer chip and the dual exhaust along with misc mods give the car aprox 230HP and 245 lb/ft torque on the dyno. All this with the fat tires and stiffer suspension result in one of the fastest and still comfortable rides of my life. This car is for the person who wants it all, POWER, HANDLING, and COMFORT. This is the kind of car I have been looking for since I started driving 15 years ago! IT'S GREAT!! Similar Products Used: 93 Grand Marquis, 95 Crown Vic (standard), 95 Impala SS |

Strength:
Looks great with the new black grill
Weakness:
Less power than my previous car a 91 5.7L Caprice with the police package. It all pays of however by offering a much quieter ride, 100 times better handling and better gas mileage. And I also miss the digital speedometer. Ex CHP Police Interceptor. The car had 100k miles on it when purchased and drives like new except for a bad wheel bearing on the rear driver's side which makes a grinding noise when coasting at 7-25mph. Similar Products Used: I have also driven an 89 Crown Victoria LX for a while and it offers a very cushioned, quiet and comfortable ride with great power. |

Strength:
Reliability, powerful, safe, good handling, great acceleration, excellent hill climbing, low engine noise, nice paint, good fuel economy, lots of room for the family and luggage, filters are inexpensive compared to other cars, NO expensive timing belt to replace, NO expensive cv boots and axles to replace.
Weakness:
Cheap cloth interior, the 4-wheel disc brakes are good, but not the best; at times the rotors seem to vibrate a bit until you get them regrooved. I bought this car in 3/96 with 33,000 miles on it. The car now has 237,000 Similar Products Used: 1998 Crown Victoria has better brake system, but uses more gas. |

handles like a sports car and this can be scary to young punks driving recklessly-teach them were watchning them
Weakness:
gas mileage, rear gears-mine are family man gears, and it cold use an upgrade to 3.73 for an easy 30 horsepowere gain The car rocks. It has no lousy aluminum parts, and no computer to govern the engine.Excellent handling and consistent high speed performance make this one bad sedan, a muscle car if you do the right things to it. Do your self a favor and awaken the monster in the 5.8 windsor waiting to come out. Crown Victoria Police Interceptor
Strength:
Its quite, smooth riding, and very fast. Most people give you the right away because they think you're a police officer.
Weakness:
Not that bad on gas but still... Nothing beats a police packaged crown victoria. The police don't use these cars for nothing you know. The Crown Victoria is probably the safest car you could ever buy. Ask any police officer who drives one and see for yourself. These cars are fast, realiable, and very comfortable. Not to bad on gas for its massive 4.6 V8 police engine. The 1995 police interceptor is probably the best year you can purchase. I'd recommend this vehicle to anyone. Nothing is better than have a quite smooth ride with the power of a mustang gt. Similar Products Used: Nothing will ever compare to the joy of driving a Crown Victoria |

Strength:
Roominess
Weakness:
None I can't say enough about these vehicles. Rear wheel drive. Full frame. V-8 power. As previous reviewers stated, this is a full size vehicle. Even with a roll cage, console, and MDT, there is still plenty of interior space. The car has plenty of power and handles extremely well. It feels very solid under all driving conditions and is just a real pleasure to drive, especially on the highway. Our fleet was upgraded last year from the 1997 model to the 2000 model and while the 97's were very nice, the 2000's are just so much more refined. The suspension is much tighter and the engine develops a lot more power. I can't speak on the civilian model, but the police versions are absolutely wonderful. Extremely reliable too. Our vehicles run 24/7 under harsh conditions and with routine maintenance, there are very few surprises. I also find them to be very safe. I have seen some bad accidents involving these cars with the occupants sustaining no serious injuries. And with the full frame, accident damage is relatively easy to repair to factory specs - cars involved in serious accidents drive like they were never hit before. There are of course some drawbacks. The car is tough to drive in the snow, although the limited slip differential helps out a lot. And though the 4.6 is very fuel efficient as far as V8's go, it still does use a lot of gas. The bottom line - if I were in the market for a sedan, I would not hesitate to purchase a Crown Vic. They have developed a very loyal following in the law enforcement community and for good reason. The Crown Vic is a solid, reliable car that is very comfortable and fun to drive. Similar Products Used: None |

Strength:
ALL!!
Weakness:
Aluminum rim's leak like a ceive. EGR valve sputters on the interstate when pulling hills. This is a great car!!! I love the power of the 4.6. I had a 1988 Crown Victoria and when the 92' body was restyled there was no comparisson. The 5.0 Litre (302 cci) is a weak engine. It always has been. When I test drove the 92 i floored it on an on ramp goin to interstate 80 and there is just no comparisson. I was shocked at the amount of power Ford crammed into a smaller V-8. I'm very satisfied. Similar Products Used: Is there really a comparisson? Ford out did themselves on the Crown Victoria. |

Crown Victoria, Police Package - Aftermarket accesories- Twin turbo
Strength:
Even the base Vic is better than most any other vehicle I have driven. The LX is easily up there with any S-CLass Mercedes Benz or Lexus. True not the same "shock value" or prestige as these cars, but they look suprisingly very much alike. It defintely holds its own against any car in the world.
Weakness:
A terrible "grandpa car" stigma, thats not true, because it could dust of any car any day! I have owned numerous vehicles in my life. My Crown Vic is a company car, but I own the company,so I souped mine up a litte! It (believe it or not) produces around 390HP!!!!!!! I replaced the engine with the freer breathing Mustang GT engine, superchip, exhaust, intake, major suspension upgrades, frame bracing and twin turbo system, much more small things. I also own a 98 Mercedes-Benz S-500 and have owned many other S-versions, and Cadillacs and Lincolns and Jags...honestly, NONE compares to the Crown Victoria. True, it doesnt have the prestige of a S-Class, but it looks oddly ALOT like an S-Class. Its easily just as reliable, much quicker and quieter, just all around a MUCH more superior product. Ford outdid themselves with this car. If they changed a few small things to make it a little classier, they could sell a rebadged version of it for 60k, EASILY. Better looking, Better handling and CHEAPER! than a Benz or Lincoln. Similar Products Used: Mercedes Benz S-500...honestly, I believe the Vic is a superior car-not only in quality and amenities, but in price, not the same shock value or prestige tho...too bad, its a beautiful car. Lexus LS430 (Brand new) its a little quieter than the Vic...but I like my Vics roaring engine...ride quality and fit and finish are just as good...and my Vic could kick that Lexus' ass any day!!! |
