absolutly NONE!!!!!!!

Weakness:

The entire car!!!

This car is the biggest piece of junk!! It runs horrible. Hot air is blown on to my legs when I drive yet the dealership says this is normal and thats a first. I have had it in the shop more then I drove the thing. You name it I have had it replaced it. I had the car for 4 yrs and replaced the rotors and brakes 2 times the transmission once and its on its way out again, along with numerous belts, and now the car is shaking and jerking when I stop, and my brakes failed. All in all I would never recomend this car to anyone in fact I boycot ford and will never ever look at purchasing one again. All I can say is thank god I leased it cause I can walk away from this pile of junk in less then 10 months.

Strength:

Fuel efficiency, easy to handle, good sound system, large trunk.

Weakness:

gas tank/ trunk opener: sometimes both open and the lever is on the floor and often gets plugges with rocks. Drink holder is all plastic and brittle in cold weather. No tilt on steering wheel. No leg room in back. Little leg room in front.

Have had this car for 6 years. Have only replaced the tires and the alternator.

Strength:

Very quick for a small car. Great Acceleration and turning ability for a car that won't mess up your insurance. NICE TOP SPEED. DOES AT LEAST 120mph.

Weakness:

Cupholders suck. Backseat is cramped. There is no "slow" in reverse; tapping the gas causes the car to lurch. For some reason, popping the trunk opens the gas cap.

Fun little sucker. Reliablility is questionable but when it runs, it runs. Good throttle response and overall a "fast" car, given that it has four doors. Mine died at 105,000 miles during a theft but it required more repairs than I think a car should. But, when it ran, it ran well.

Speed, looks great, natural gas upgrade, runs great,

Weakness:

Only had to replace the alternator. Trunk leaks.

Great car. Has natural gas upgrade. Runs on gasoline or natural gas. Natural cost 79cents gal. Runs great, looks great. We have purchased many vehicles from the government and had very good luck with them. For the price we got a steal of a deal. We dont listen to those people that whine and say dont buy Ford or certain other brands. I know they dont know what their talking about. Just prejudice and whiney. Would buy another one in heart beat.. Highly recommend it. Only 40,000 miles on it when purchased. Now has over 70,000 miles and running stronge.

i overall have enjoyed my car and have had to replace nothing except the tires and that was at around 70000 miles, the one thing that i want to know is if anyone else has had any problem with the dashboard "rolling up", mine has over the last year or so began to come up from around the windshield(like where the defrost blows out) and the entire thing is up about an inch or so , took it to a non ford body shop and they said that contours are notorious for this... any one else have a similar problem??? i also see that some of you said you have gotten several recall notices from ford, i have never recieved any makes me wonder if i should contact ford directly.... basically a good running(if basic preventative maint. is done)

Strength:

-Price -Sleek Styling -all-around performance -SVT name and reputation -SVT equipment- full body kit front to back, duel exhaust, white face gauges, lumbar suport and 12way power seat, nice 16in wheels, added hp over standard 2.5L from extrude honning -Build Quality -Satisfies all aspects a driver could want from a sedan -windy roads and entry/exit ramps are fun -The engine is beautiful looking -The feeling of driving a rare and elite car -Trunk space -insurance is not bad -the looks you get from people in cars that were $10,000 more -Drive a car that makes you feel like you made it, even if you didnt quite$$$ -It doesnt matter where your driving, your just glad to be driving - I could go on but I only have 1200 characters of space to write.

Weakness:

-High reving engine causes soso gas milege on trips (65-80mph) -If your very concerned about back seat room then I'd consider a Taurus SHO -There were only 10,000 made in 3 years so they are hard to find and will soon be a collecters Item (good for me, not so much for you if you want one) -Heated seats would be nice -Ford taking the Contour out of the lineup

This car has been everything I ever expected it to be. I've always wanted one since I saw the first one roll out in 98. I finally found one that was used in perfect condition. I purchased this car with 8,000 miles a year ago and I have about 17k on it now. There were only 10,000 made from 98-00. It turns heads and it has styling that everyone can appreciate. There is also a lot of respect from auto enthusiasts. The build quality is great and the performance is even better. I just took it in for inspection today and I already miss it. Every time I get in the car Im happy just to be driving it. I have known a few people that have the same car with high miles and havent had any problems with them. I havent had any problems with it obviously. If you want a contour I believe the older ones arent so great. The newer ones with the styling change are good and the SVTs are basicaly flawless. This may be one of the greatest kept secrets in the automotive industry. You get so much for the money. You can pick up a used one cheap. I believe the original price was around 24grand for a car that could have sold for much more. If you want a sport/luxary car look for an SVT before you go after a bmw318, A4, Jetta, maxima, ect. You will have a car just as good if not better with more money in your pocket(respective years). Don't believe me? Go to www.contour.org to look at some of the comparison links from car magazines that have the SVT on top. It will outperform the cars in its class and many more in all aspects (speed, handling). It makes 200hp from a 2.5L,143mph top speed and can hold on the skidpad at .93 which is comparable to expensive sports cars. The interior is well layed out and everything feels well constructed and easy to reach.

Enjoyable BASIC vehicle when running correctly.

Weakness:

Mass Air Flow Sensor Fuel door lever sometimes doesn't work passenger front door handle is fussy check engine light recalls galore Highly recommend not buying a Contour or any other Ford product, like above-we be looking for a foreign made car next

I bought my '95 Contour from my fatherinlaw in 2001 with 80,000 miles. 2.0L manual. Right after I registered it I received 4 recalls in the mail. I brought it in to be serviced and they told me about a 6 things were wrong with it. I ignored them and things were fine. Since I drive about 25,000 miles per year-due to my employment-I replaced the timing belt and have always done routine maintenance at roughly 3900 miles. Car currently has 130,000 miles and the other day it started jerking violently back and forth when driving forward in all gears. Very unsafe to drive. I nursed it to my well-trusted-non ford-mechanic and he hooked it up to the computer and told me the O2 sensor was shot. I preformed a complete tune up including sparkplugs and wires, O2, and flush the tranny. Problem stopped but the check engine light comes on after roughly 5 miles. Drives fine. The computer says the MAF-recently replaced-was fine, the EGR was fine, no leaks in the compression, but that the O2 sensor was still bad-replaced again and the light is still on for the same reason. Checking the PCM next.

recalls, cup holders, 'ford' means dealing with ford dealerships- your patience will be tested- engine light, ABS, general creaks & noisiness in suspension, i'll be looking for japanese next.

decent car over all... check engine light is an issue... waiting for MAF sensor. possibly related to stall problem when pulling away from stoplight (warmed up). car restarts fine but not good for busy intersections. tranny SLAMS into gear if i don't let it idle down after start. ABS is crap... engages at slow speeds and ALWAYS fails on the highway (ABS light). i want to disable it but no one seems to know how. ford dealers not exactly customer friendly- the one i went to (dillon) shut down their computer system while in the middle of 2 customer transactions... counter people not very competent.

Cup holder? gas cover latch Water pump

Has been a good car other than routine maintenance. We have had a rattle in the back since early on, but could never seem to get it fixed. If the car had cup holders, its been so long since my wife's purse strap broke them off that I don't remember them. The car now has 78,000 miles and still runs well. The gas cover does not open well in summer even after we got it fixed early on.
