Strength:
power, solid road car, good fuel economy, lots of Ford dealers with which to find parts
Weakness:
brake rotors, gas cap cover, cup holder, resale value Fabulous touring car: good power (V-6 with manual trans), decent fuel economy (aver. 30mpg on hiway with two 40mpg tankfuls!). Have over 140K miles. Lost track of the recalls Ford did on this car. I hate to take it to Ford: it comes out worse than it went in. Brake rotors are worthless, am on the third O2 sensor, gas cover won''t open (open the trunk and pull the cable), cup holder broke. Overall though, I can''t complain about the reliability. Engine and trans are sound (have original clutch!), average 40,000 miles per set of tires with even wear. Sorry Ford dropped the model. I was hoping they would bring in a wagon version (like the Mondeo in Europe) but killed the model for the Escape, which doesn''t offer the 2.5 V6 with a manual trans.: just the underpowered 4 cyl. or the Taurus V6 with auto trans only. Strength:
Car runs good now that almost everything on it has been replaced.
Weakness:
The overall car is crap. I will never buy another ford. I bought the car new, cup holders are broken, gas cover will not open, front rotars replaced 4 times in as many years. Windows repaired several times, engine light comes and a new transmission. Put about $8000.00 in repairs before the car was 3 years old. I let it set in the driveway for 2 years while I paid montlhy payments and insurance. Ford sent me a letter asking me how I liked my ford contour and I told them it was a piece of crap. They replied with a card, " We hope your next buy experience is better". It was, Thank you Dodge. Similar Products Used: 2 New Ford Mustangs New Ford Bronco New Ford Mini van |

Strength:
Power, Looks(a little after-market helps) dependable
Weakness:
cup holders, gas gulper(Duratech V-6) 2nd engine in car (first was replaced by original owner). Very dependable car only item I have had to replace was consumable things...ie: tires. Interior: Cup holders suck and trunk leaks. Love the power, this car will move. Since I just bought the car a year ago, I didn''t have the recall worries as the prev. owner. Maybe I got one of those ''95''s that slipped through the Ford Quality Inspection, ''cause it''s been pleasant to own! Similar Products Used: 1994 Taurus SHO |

Lots of power, very comfy and handels great!!
Weakness:
power windows don''t work well, hard on gas. The car overall is great, and very comfortable...although its had a few problems.. the cup holders ar broke, the gas cover only opens sometimes, had to have the front rotars replaced twice in one year...and for some reason the car seems to be really hard on gas (V6). other than those problems, the car has great handling and quite a bit of power for its size.. The only think I don''t really like that much is the back end..not crazy on the way its rounded. |

SE Sport V6/Auto
Strength:
Strong V6 Looks sporty with rear spoiler and fog lights low insurance costs good bang for the buck
Weakness:
weak low beams - you gotta have the fog lights sometimes power door locks get frozen in the winter (not the cars fault, though. Every car with power door locks probably does the same thing.) I''ve had this car for a little over 2 years now and have had absolutely no problems with it!!!Lucky me:) I love my car and so does everyone else. I got voted as having the best car in my senior yearbook. I got the SE Sport with the V6(a must for any serious driver) It''s got leather, cd player, power sunroof, keyless entry, 8-spoke alloys, everything. The rear seat''s a little small, but I don''t have to sit back there, so that doesn''t bother me. Similar Products Used: none. Ford Contour
Strength:
With its problems it still drives well.
Weakness:
oil leaks, wiring problems, doors want open, windsheild wiper replacements don''t fit, windshield wipers stop working, many recalls that are not fixed properly at the dealerships. I will never buy another ford. We bought this car new. We have had lots of problems with the car. First, the windsheild wiper on the passengers side stopped working. The doors automaticly lock and they are not suppost to. Which has resulted in many fees to locksmiths to unlock the doors becuase the keys were inside. I now have a spare key with me at all times. Second, the passenger door will not open any more from the inside. Third, we have an oil leack. Forth, many recalls that were suppost to be fixed but the Ford Dealerships made them worse. Fifth, my firestone tire on rear drivers side began to fall apart, and I had to buy new tires. Sixth, engine light comes on and off when ever it wants to, and the Ford Dealership has no idea why. Seventh, the signals in the rear go out constantly because there is a short in the wiring. Now, that I have desided to trade the car in I am not going to receive a trade in amount of what I owe. It is less do to all the problems with the car and they are not my fault. Similar Products Used: None |

still has a little get up for being old
Weakness:
old leaks, transmission slips, heater only has one level I will never by a Ford again! Same as every other review, gas cover sticks, cupholders are broke, e-brake doesn''t work, check engine light doesn''t work, had to by a new door after it just stopped opening, both front doors had some plastic piece broke in them-this car should be called the ford plastic. fun to try pepy for a 4cly, good fuel mileage, cheap ins, fun to drive,
Weakness:
gas cap sticks, had to replace both trunk lines, rusted up already (90,000mi) cup holder only half works, tooo many recalls Bad servise from FORD dealer nothing but problems. that why every thing has been done at other shops. and i dont use Ford parts if i can avoid it. tranny a bit speradic at times but i think its computer related. thats fine it get a perfomance on this spring. OK car but there are lot better ones for the money, poor resale value. I bought this car as a birthday present to my self. Its had it moments, i have had the little problems to fix on it but thats a given when buying a car. as for dealing with the recalls since they are more of a joke that any thing i havnt done a one. it just not worht the run around u get from FORD i have had some of them don eat local shops for far less and i get profmance or upraded parts for less then you''d pay for OE ones. I like that fact that i get 30+ for mpg. i have the 2.0 ztec motor which is one of 3 options that came for my car. I have since i had it replaced the front brakes pads and rotors @ 55,000 mi, then the plugs, wires, coil pack, T.P.sencer, put a K&N in it and a trubo exhust, spoiler new rims not much on the factory style for rims. I am planning on doing more for upgrades as they come to market. Looks good with the right tint job. Similar Products Used: 85 chryler 5th ave |

RUNS GOOD NEW / LOOKS GREAT IN THE JUNK YARD
Weakness:
VEHICLE DID NOT REACH 100,000 MILES WITHOUT NEED OF MAJOR OVERHAUL. THAT SUCKS. THUMBS DOWN WITH A FROWN. RAN FINE UNTIL THE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT CAME ON, THEN BLEW HEAD GASKET SHORTLY AFTER I TOOK IT TO DEALER (GO FIGURE). FIRST THEY SAID IT WAS MASS FLOW SENSOR, THEN ON THE NEXT VISIT SAID I NEEDED A NEW ENGINE. OH THE WONDERS OF MODERN AUTO MECHANICS. IT IS PURE GARBAGE NOW AFTER 84000 MILES. WAS DROVE EASY WITH REGULAR OIL CHANGES. EVERYBODY KNOWS THIS CAR IS CRAP, INCLUDING FORD. Similar Products Used: 1965 FORD GALEXY...LASTED MY DAD 10+ years |
