Strength:

Snug, tight road feel. Great 30-90mph acceleration. Superb Visibilty A drivers car. I will have this 1995 SE for another 100K. When my daughter graduates from college in 2006 I will take MB SE back.

Weakness:

Transmission failure at 126,00. Water Pump failure at 134,000. 4 sets of tires.(I never met a corner I didn''t like :-).) THAT HUMMMM!! ( apparently the result of the fans frequency level)not a mecanical issue. HeadLamps pitting. I need new one''s before giving to daughter. Drivers door, yes it has failed to latch close at times. Especially after a driving wet rain followed by cold blast. Something in there is sticking.

Since 1976 I have owned a 1969 Pontiac Firebird with 4 speed, 1976 and 1978 Saab 99''s, 1983 Saab 900, 1989 Saab 900 Turbo, 1973 and 1976 BMW 2002''s, 1985 Volvo 244, 1992 Toyota Carolla and then my 1995 Ford Contour SE V6 Auto w/ traction control. 156,456 miles later, I STILL LOVE IT! Sure it has cost me money, time, recalls and patience to keep going, but...if you buy a performance oriented car, that is part of the cost. Not a whole lot different than a good marriage. I am now buying a 2000 SE, keeping my wife and giving my Midnight Blue SE to my daughter. If you want mindless ownership, buy a Toyota or Honda. They are very nice cars. If you want the closest thing to a European Sports Sedan at CHEAP money buy a Contour.I love this car second to only my 1973 2002 Tii. That is as supportive a statement about the driverbility as you will get. I am putting my daughter in it. That is as supportive a comment I can make about it''s safety. So..roll down the windows and let the wind blow back your hair. The night''s busting open.. these two lanes will take you anywhere....

Strength:

The color was great and the rado worked fine.

Weakness:

Engine was bad the car is just a piece of junk

I bought this car thinking that it would be dependable for me. Because I have a 2 year old. I drove the car for 5 days when the pulley started acting up. Then the day that I got the car back out of the shop it stopped at a red light and wouldn''t start back up and i had my daughter in the car with me . I only drove my car physically for 6 days . I will never buy a for again.

Strength:

Plenty of power, Nice ride. definately better than I was expecting.

Weakness:

Automatic (although you can get a 5 speed which I wish I would have) I have already recieved a recall and I have only had the car since November 2001. I understand that there has been quite a few. Not enough performance parts out for this vehicle. Good car though

I havent had this car for a really long time, but in the time that I have had it I have been highly impressed. The V6 sounds very good and has very good power. For being a family car it is pretty quick ( 2 cars behind an all wheel drive turbo Eagle Talon). I would definately reccomend this car to someone.

Strength:

Driving Position (seats), Suspension, Driveline and price.

Weakness:

Rough ride at times - 95 SE suspension was tuned to offer tight handling, not buick ride quality Resale value - Ford didn''t help this too much with their rental car agreements.

This car has been a blast to drive and relatively problem free, relative to the norm that is! I purchased this car used 3 years ago and have enjoyed it ever since. Now, I have driven much better cars, but for the price I paid, none in my opinion offer the ride, options and fun. Yes, the car has had a few problems such as a water pump and mass air flow sensor, but for a car with 220000 km, those should be expected. All in all, I truly enjoy the cars dynamic driving and handling and plan on keeping the car for at least 2 more years.

Strength:

Gas mileage. Relatively peppy considering.

Weakness:

rattles, shakes. Does not idle well. Heater works once in a while. Lost alot of its resale value in a short time. In Canada you can no longer boost the air conditioning as the type of coolant is now banned for use.

Would make a great fishing lure with all the rattles and shakes. The animal rights activitists would love to have this car being as the animals know the car is coming long before it gets there. I less than one year had to replace front coil springs, stablizer links and lower ball joints

Strength:

The older models had a nice body style and looked great in Torredor Red. The car handled and accellerated like a dream (V6 engine). The front bucket seats were comfortable and the lighted door handles were neat. The car is a safe vehicle if you happen to roll it. (at least if you are in the driver''s seat.) Gas mileage was good too. This car would be good grocery getter or second car.

Weakness:

Recalls (many!) and quality of workmanship. Home mechanics may have a hard time finding repair information unless they want to pay for a factory manual. Good luck in getting a dealership to help you fix one even if you are paying them cash! Ford only made this car for a short time and there''s a reason. I bet Ford mechanics cringe when they see one pull up to the dealership service bays. My car died at 70,000 miles. It went through 2 sets of rotors, 2 sets of tires, recalls for electrical wiring, california exhaust, fuel doors, and other stuff I can''t remember. Had a 3 month battle with a dealership paint shop until they properly fixed paint flaws agreed upon at the time of purchase. The rear child lock door safety mechanisms broke and a dealership could not figure out how to fix it. I finally figured it out after 6 months of not being able to use the rear door.

Our 1996 ford contour gl was purchased new in California and it was the only V6 on the lot. It is no longer with us because I rolled it into a twisted hunk of metal on an icy country road a few years ago (a mixed blessing). I walked away from the wreck with only a little pain in my back and an abrasion on my face from the airbag. That says alot about the safety of the vehicle. Even though we loved it, the car was a piece of crap (except for the engine) and the Ford dealership did everything in its power not honor its warranties. We still receive recall notices in the mail from FORD and we are thankful that we don''t have to keep bringing it in for repairs. All the other comments on this forum speak for themselves. The only way one can buy this car now is used and while I wouldn''t buy one myself, it could be a good vehicle if all the recalls were done on it and it was maintained well. Take a good look at the mechanical aspects of the vehicle before you buy one and don''t pay too much money for it

Strength:

Fun to drive, looks good with spoiler and nice rims. Big trunk, enough room for the family.

Weakness:

Poor workmanship(if I built the car I would take the sticker off that says which Ford plant it came from). I always have to take the shop forman from the dealer for a test ride because they "can''t find anything wrong".

Can you say fun to drive. The car is so much fun to drive I can almost look past the problems it has had. Almost. The engine runs great its the other parts that don''t. The fuel pickup has been fixed twice, the A/C has been fixed 3 times the struts once-2 recalls. This car could be a great car if it was not for the problems. Very fast with the 5-Speed, faster off the line then my friends SVT Mustang 4.3 liter. Top speed of over 120.

Strength:

FUN to drive, handles like a dream. Quick, even with the 4 cylinder. HUGE trunk.

Weakness:

Rear seating is a joke, feeble electric system-windows stop working, indicator lights, gauges on/off. A/C failed ($1400.00) at 75,000 miles. Brakes always squealed, even when new.

LOTS of recalls, all done cheerfully. The car is small, and does not hold up. Ford doesn''t make it anymore.
