Mechanincal problems, lack of shops being able to diagnose problems on the car

Nice looking car, I bought it after I totaled my other car hitting a deer. I liked the interior and the style.. The first thing that happened when I bought this car is it died the very same day I got done signing the papers! After taking it to 5 different shops only one could find the reason for the car repeatedly dying and stalling in the middle of the road on me. Finally one of the shops said the idle speed control module needed to be replaced, $455.00 later the car I thought was fixed but then there were more problems. The Talon did not want to start when the weather was hot and muggy, usually after 20 minutes you could get it going though, sometimes 30 depending on how much you try. The car had a lot of problems with it but that is to be expected when you buy a used car and you have no idea if it has been maintenced well or not. I suspect this Talon of mine was beat on the road or something judging by its problems. My husband now has the car, he is going to replace the fuel pump, body side mouldings(they are falling off) and repaint it and it should be as good as gold!

This car is great for the performance enthusiast. It's fast and handles great. The car can take corners at unbelievable speed and has really fast paced pickup, plus it looks great!

I blew the tranny in the first 48 hours. Guess I must have pushed it a little too hard. Thank god it was under warranty, they replaced the whole thing and it didn't cost me a penny. She's been purr-ing like a kitten ever since.

I bought this car at an Auction without even a test drive. It looked so clean and the paint was beautiful. The first time I drove it out of the lot, I knew this was definitely the car for me. I tested it out for 8 months and it hasn't given me any problem since the tranny was replaced. It's in the process of a major re-construction right now. It's getting a new paint job - Race Green, ground effects, exhaust - increase hp by 15, stereo, and chrome rimms. I figure since the car was good to me for the last 8 months, it deserves to look better. I definitely recommend this car to anyone wanting high performance without having to pay the big $$$'s

idle problems

this car kicks ass, i had an 88 bmw inline 6, it had no power compared to this car. I have lots of extras like a 16g turbo, bored out throttle body, all new full lines, high flow fuel inj. new intercooler, new brakes, standalone fuel system, ign. kit, and two twelve kicker solos. great car to have even stock they are very fast, try adding a 16g turbo from the stock 14g and you will not have time to get scared.

fast, AWD, 6 speaker sound

the tranny went at 90000, waterpump and timing belt cost me $700 to fix, the window tracks are horrible, you actually have to push it up, cannot get open the door locks with the keys, 3 sets of brakes and i do not beat this car.....a terribly expensive car to fix

a nice looking fast car, but has too many problems that are too expensive to fix for the typical talon driver, (16-24)

Absolutely love the car - had some tranny problems in the first couple years but had tranny replaced under warranty and no problems since - quick car that handles great on windy roads

Good solid performer for the money bought car with 30k miles and only basic
maint. done since ($750.00 +/-) not bad for 3 years now at 100k miles. Looking to shave head now due to leak, an expensive fix but expected on any other car with same miles. I drive fast and this car has held up well.
