Strength:

Take off is great!
Gas mileage is so so.
Great for a small family!
Wonderful clear standard speakers

Weakness:

Slow to start...

Before i bought the Daewoo i had a 1973 Super Beetle that i drove back and forth to school. I needed something with more power and a heater. The only bad thing about the car that i have is the fact that it was a water damage car and i now have purple carpet. It starts slow too, but considering the price i paid for the new car it was worth it. I have manage to roll the miles on it just in the few months i have had it and all in all it is handeling it well. I can only hope that the problems stay minut and that i didn't buy a lemon. If you want power for low cost a Daewoo i believe is they way to go.

Codes required for Radio operation

Purchased vehicle used with 71000/miles. Immediately after purchase, AC switch went out. Also, engine light came on. After several trips to the dealer, AC switching unit was replaced (no more problems). Englne light pointed to the EGR sensor. After having the sensor replaced, light has went off and stayed off.

No CD player No A/C Breaks down once a month..no joke! $4,000 worth of repairs & it still wouldn't work Daewoo owes us for this!

I hated that car! Please do not waste your money on it! I needed a car & was told it compares nicely to a Hinda Civic so I was suckered in. It was a Lemon! I put just under $4,000 into that POS. When I threw a fit at the dealership they tried to give me $500 for it & have me buy new car from them..NEVER will I buy another car from them. I forgot all of the things I had replaced on that car I got rid of it a year ago when my only choice was to give up up to Repo because it was not worth the monthly payments to me & to keep it from being in the shop. That car is still haunting me & I think Daewoo owes us all & we should not be responsiable for their peices of junk! There was not one good thing abou that car I had more rental cars when I owed that car that I have ever had in my life because they could never figure out what was wrong with it or something else would break even while it was being fixed! Finally it was just shaking & almost dying so I got rid of it noone should ever have to go threw owning a car such as that.

Manages to pull the boat out of the water & up the hills we live on. Has been good for towing wood around in a trailer & on the roof (although few dents in teh boot from jack knifing (not the cars fault).

Weakness:

Starting to shake - rattle & roll more than Gerry Lee Lewis on ephidrene. Electric mirrors & drivers window have given up the ghost.

Bought the old girl with about 60,000 on the clock in 2001 (private NZ$6,500). Has performed well for majority of 4 years we've had her. Now on 110,000+ she's starting to show a few creaks. The mirror adjusters & drivers window have packed up & it's starting to 'shake - rattle & roll' a bit these days. Still quite pleased on Value for Money out the purchase - not surprising she's packing up now as use her 1600 motor to tow my boat (16ft Ali) up steep New Zealand (albeit in low gears).

EXCELLENT gas mileage (30-32) Cheap to buy new, still under warranty handles well with good quality tires

Weakness:

Stock hancook tires are garbage light and cheap feeling small interior

Has been a great car. 2 recalls, camshaft sensor and front brake lines. Other than that, it has been totally reliable and safe. I have ~59 thousand miles on it so far, and all is good.

EVERYTHING

THIS IS THE WORST CAR I HAVE EVER OWED.I BROUGHT THE CAR BRAND NEW IN 2001. IT RAN GOOD FOR ABOUT 2YR AFTER THAT ALL KIND OF PROBLEMS.FIRST THE CRANK SHAFT SENSOR WENT OUT. THAT CAUSE THE CAR TO CUT OFF AT ANY TIME. THEN THE CAR START RUN HOT. IT TOOK UP TO A MONTH TO GET PART. THEN FINALLY THE CAR GOT A OIL LINK. EST. REPAIRS WAS ABOUT 2500.00. I COULD TRADE IT END BECAUSE IT WAS ONLY WORTH ABOUT 1500.00 . IT HAD 70,000 MILE AND THE TROUBLE START AT ABOUT 50,000. I LET THE CAR GO BACK. I COULD GET ANY MONEY OUT OF IT AND I STILL HAD ANOTHER YEAR TO PAY ON IT. IF YOU SEE THIS CAR DON'T BE FOOL DO NOT BUY THIS CAR!!!!!!!!!! YOU CAN'T GET A PART TO SAVE YOUR LIFE AND IF YOU DO THE COST WILL KILL YOU.

Economical, comfortable, roomy. Nice amenities.

Weakness:

Horrible cup holder. Road noise. Vibrations and rattling.

Have owned this car since July 2001 & it has less than 30,000 miles on it. Lots of road noise; cup holder rattles. About 5 months ago, car started vibrating. Found a dealer. Diagnostic was performed & failed transmission mounts were found & replaced. Car is still vibrating and rattling. My "check engine" light came on (didn't go away after tightening gas cap.) Becoming very dissatisfied with the vehicle, but am afraid I cannot get a decent price for it. The noise is driving me nuts. Rattling is enough to interfere with talking or radio listening.

Great accessories and it runs good.

Weakness:

Parts & Labor and the electronics of it.

I've had my Daewoo for a little over a year and it has run great so far. The problem I'm having is the electronics of it. The power button doesn't work anymore, my driver side power mirror doesn't work, and my A/C button doesn't work. I also had to replace the gas line because my car kept stalling out. The bad thing is that I have to keep it for a while because the price shot down dramatically when they filed for bankrupcy. So I owe more than it is worth.

Suspension(front) Parts hard to find Noisy on the highway

When I bought this car it was already 13 months old. The only reason I decided to do it was because of the price (fully loaded with only 13000milles on it). I had no problem with any repairs that had to be done to this car, our local dealer has put in so far around 1500 dollars to keep it running (suspension problems most of all). Since it is a five door I really like all the space. It handles well, but not great. It is fast enough if you know how to get all of it out, power I mean. Good quality tires also change a lot when it comes to cornering and handling in general. Although parts tend to be a little more expensive than should be, I was lucky to buy a lot of them at a bargain price in Poland (Europe)where they cost a fraction of what you would pay here. I'm planning to change my timing belt really soon since it tends to brake at around 40-50 thousand milles,or even before that, and the whole engine needs to be changed. I hope that in the future servicing will get easier since GM will start to sell new models from Daewoo through its network, although they will now be called Chevrolet ... The body tends to rust a little early and it is overall fragile. With regular maintenance it can run for a long time. I was lucky enough to take advantage of the decrease in value that these cars were hit by. That is how I saved around 13 grand. I just feel sorry for the previous owner who lost so much money.

Smooth ride, a little sporty, great gas mileage, handles very sell, looks good.

Weakness:

a bit worried if I need repairs down the road who to go to, and about the parts available. Almost every part on this car is either from the S10 pickup or toyota carrola though, so a junk yard might be a good choice for me, since I do most car repairs myself..

I've had the car for about 2 years now, and with 33K milse, have not had any mechanical problems at all. The only thing that sucks on this car are the stock Hancook tires. They didn't last 33:, bit with some good bridgstones, the car rides awesome now.. Great car for the money, reliable, almost all GM parts, including engine, 5-speed tranny, etc..
