Strength:

I love the basic, but very sleek and sexy styling of the car! It definatly turns heads at stop lights. Mine came with no leather, but that didn't bother me at all. The dual exhaust looks good. The interior is very spacy as well. I have had no problems with anything so far! (knock on wood)

Weakness:

When buying used you sometimes don't get want you want. Like no sunroof, no CD player. Oh yeah, that left blind spot is a big one too. After purchasing, I only had to change out the brake cylinders on the back brakes and fix a vaccum hose on the engine.

I would recommend this car to anyone! I have had no problems with this car and hope to never have one.

Smooth ride, 16" wheel.

Weakness:

Break + poor front speaker + very slippery in the snowwin (When I compare with my previous car below) + rear left blind spot + battery is hard to replace.

I prefer my old Cavalier for the power and the sound system and the size and a lot more.

Precision: The price above is in Canadian dollar with taxes, in US dollar it's around 13,450.00. Bought Feb. 5 2001, 21845KM or 13575 miles.

Weakness:

Sit belts ride too high. I'm 6 foot tall and it rides up across my neck.
In the winter, after sitting outside while I'm at work the brakes squeal for the first few applications. The sun roof also rattles during low temperatures.

U won't believe this car until you drive it.
There's an S turn marked 25MPH. I took the turn at 45. No roll,no squeal, no looseness. Incredible.

This 3.4 liter V-6 210 horse power engine has great power. The car is heavy. The doors are thick and solid. The car has a heavy solid feel to it.
GM, didn't spare any steel when making this car! It has a very spacious interior. I have three kids. Besides, the two door inconveniance for them, they have plenty of room in the back. This car is perfect for a family man who refuses to grow up. Its sporty and fast, yet it is very spacious. The trunk is huge! My wife drives a Buick Century. The Monte is two feet longer and it its weel base is wider. So, in summary, you get the space and comfort of a sedan with speed and handling of a sports car. This car hugs the road at high speeds. Best of all, you don't have to pay the car insurance that you would if you bought a sports car. Thats the beauty of a Coup.

Weakness:

I bought this car with 42,000 miles on it. One look under the hood told me that that this was some complex machinary. I saw the computer's. I said to myself "The electronics could pose a problem." I purchased the 4 star extended waranty. The next week. The alternator went. My mechanic said, they way the built the car subjects the alternator to alot of heat. So much so that GM built a special ventilation system for the altinator. So, I expect to have to buy another altinator probably right after the extended waranty expires. Eveyone says that there is a large blind spot on the left side of the car. Well, I'm blind in my left eye. If people are having problems with
the blind spot, try turning your head and looking with your eyes before changing lanes. I was tought in drivers ed never to rely on mirrors for lane changing. I've been driving for 14 years with one eye and other than speeding tickets I've never had an accident. So, honestly I don't understand the blind spot complaint from others, unless they rely on the mirrors. The car isn't very good on gas. The joy of driving the beautiful car makes up for its hearty thirst. If you own a 95 like myself, read the car manual and be proactive with the maintenance. This newere models get progresively higher ratings on dependibility according consumer magazines I've read. I'm hard up to find a weakness on this car. Its been good to me.
Although, the breaks are questionable. I think this has something more to do with the computer than the actually mechanics. Normally they work fine, but on ocassion when you slam them at a high speed they don't react? I've adjusted by first engaging the break slowly for a brief second, then I'll slam them and the car will decelerate. This is a problems others have noted. I plan on bringing it to the dreaded dealership. I'm convinced it the computer and nothing else. Other than that the car is winner.

Overall, I love this car!! I love the way its looks. I love the way it sounds. I love they way it takes off when you slam the pedal to the metal. I love everything about it. Great for the dive in theater. Plenty of back seat room for whatever kind of recreation you choose. In terms of reliability, I don't know yet. I've only owned the car for a year. It now has 56,000 miles. No probs yet, accept the altinator. Seriously, If I wanted something very reliable, I would have bought a Honda. But, Honda's aren't fun! Honda's aren't exciting. When I'm flying down the interstate(car drives smooth at high speeds), with the music blasting I'm alive!! I recomend this car to people who like space and performance. Nice Ride!!! If you want the most reliable car, I would guess that this isn't for you. Buy a Honda!! This car is for real men!!Men don't play it safe all the time.

Strength:

I love the speed. The 3.4 engine can really pull this car. For such a big car to do 0-60 in about 7 sec is great. The handling is a good thing to have when your hittin 70 or 80. I also love the styling and the factory duel exhaust, even though i plan on putting some flowmasters on it with the same type of exhaust tips cause i like the way they look.

Weakness:

My car has quite a few miles on it and after i purchased it i noticed that it had trouble idling in the cold mornings. I took it to the dealer on and off and they finally found that it needed a new gasket. Then soon after they fixed that problem my trans went out. But since it was still under warrantee they fixed that too. It costs them about $2400 so just hope that yours doesnt mess up.

Now that i have got most of the big problems worked out this car is running good. The trans is working great and the car will do 0-60 in about 7 agian so im pleased. If it werent for my bad luck i would probably have nothing bad to say about this car but.....truthfully im just waiting for something else to go wrong. I think the next car i get will definately be a FORD!!!

SLEEK LOOKS, RELIABILITY, THE OVERALL GOOD FEELING I GET WHEN I DRIVE IT HAS ALMOST CURED ME OF ROAD RAGE, GOOD COMPROMISE IN RIDE VS HANDLING, POWER EVEN WITH THE 3.1 EXCEEDS MY NERVE, GETS 19-22 TOWN AND 27-32 HWY MPG ROOMY, ESPECIALLY FOR A COUPE. SOLID BODY STRUCTURE, LOVE THE RADIO CONTROLS IN THE STEERING WHEEL, SMOOTH TRANS, GREAT CAR FOR THE OPEN ROAD

Weakness:

WARPED ROTORS, NOISY WIPER MOTOR, YES THE DREADED BLIND SPOT, BUT THE STYLING MORE THAN MAKES UP FOR IT. HEATER IS BARELY ADEQUATE. I HAVE HAD NO OTHER DIFFICULTIES WITH THIS CAR.

I STILL AM TRYING TO WARM UP TO THE LOOKS OF THE NEW MONTES. THIS 97 HAS BEEN SUCH A PLEASURE TO OWN AND DRIVE, I WILL HATE TO GIVE IT UP WHEN THE TIME COMES. I MAY FALL FOR A V8 OR WAIT TIL THE REDESIGN.

This car handles excellent. Really gets up and goes. Haven't had any major repairs. A very sleak looking vehicle. The red really shines.

Weakness:

The center console lid broke off but still stays on, the brakes aren't that great, and I have noticed on a lot of Monte's the black finish panel on the deck lid fades really bad. Nothing that can't be fixed.

I got a great deal on this car when I was working for Gene Messer. I have always loved the way a Monte Carlo looks and drives. They are very affordable and a great investment. Finally I have a nice car that I don't have to worry about anything going wrong. I love it. It is a very fast car. Do not buy one if you just want to drive it on a Sunday afternoon.

The strengths are the leather interior option, decent sound system, 16" rims, and the 210 horsepower engine, sounds real sporty.

Weakness:

I havent owned it for very long, but I am not real fond of the looks. They are not terrible but I would rather have the looks of a Grand Prix

I would get my hands on this car if I were you. It is fast enough when you need it to be and calm enough also.

Sexy car! Beatiful when freshly washed, makes me proud to own it!

Weakness:

To be particular, I have had nothing but trouble from it for the last year, and it's been the same problem that the service technicians are baffled. I've poored hundreds of dollars, if not thousands into it. They try hit-or-miss repair work. They know that it has a mis-fire in valve #6. Again, today I took it to the shop, could be a week. I called the customer assistance, to no avail. They give you the runaround about its age and number of miles, but the first time I took it in, it wasn't that old and the mileage was average for its age. Baffled and Disgusted!!!???

A definite buy, if they ever fix the 3.4 Liter engine.
