Gas efficient moves well around the corners.
Weakness:
No power. It sounds like a clunker. No acceleration a go cart accelerates better than it. It smells really bad when you floor it. $2,100.00 Similar Products Used: Ford tempo, 1983 previa, and a piece of junk f250 |

Strength:
Inexpensive to operate, surprisingly fun to drive, good visibility, fair amount of room for the size, and I drive by a whole lot of gas stations without stopping.
Weakness:
It is as slow as an old VW beatle; 3 cylinder engine has a hard tme working with the AC (but what do you expect with a 1 liter, 3 cylinder engine?); ride is bouncy I paid less than $9000 for this car, including radio, CD player, AC, and other nice options. I didn't expect gas to go up in price so quickly, but that has certainly made the car much more attractive. I got it for commuting, now we use it as the family ar for most trips. It was comfortable enough on a recent 1,000 mile weekend trip. It is a very nice car, if you can accept it for what it is: a commuter scooter that is made to run on very littel gas. If you want more, than you probably ought to look elsewhere. But I have certainly been very happy with mine. Similar Products Used: 1988 Civic: slower, less comfortable |

I really like the mileage 41 around town and about 52 on the interstate at about 70 to 75mph. It has the 1 liter engine and 5speed with a/c and got it on sale new for $8399. I like the interior space and the quality of the materials. Everyone that rode in the car with me really gets a kick out it. Oh on the mile figure for the interstate the engine had not been broken in at the time.
Weakness:
What I really don't like about the car is that in Texas you need darker windows on a car and it doesn't. This is the best car I've ever had. It cost me less than $8400 new. I would recommend this car to anybody. P.S. don't Similar Products Used: Previously I owned a 94 Ford Aspire. The Metro is car and away the best car I've ever owned, and I've owned many cars since 1981. |

Parking lot manuveurbility, fuel economy, braking, durability from a mechanical standpoint, and simplicity of maintenance. One of the best parts is that the tires can be replaced, mounted, balanced, and all for less than a $100 when on sale.
Weakness:
Replacing the head requires small fingers and ackward movement, fuel filter replacement/cost ($25 if you do it yourself), jack (really difficult the first time as it needs to break in the threads), heating (stays cold in the winter), and replacing parts are expensive. The worst part is that the driver's door handle and interior light seems to have problems (and GM don't really support you). My first Metro (93, two door, AC, and Stick with no radio) was bought because I was tired of buying and working on used cars and decided it was much better to buy cheap new vs older used. I actually delivered pizzaes in this for Pizza Hut (don't work for them, you won't make what they claim) putting 28000 mi in 9 months on it (very hard miles too I may add, and the warranty was eaten in less than a year) driving in various weather conditions (averaging 55-63 mpg depending on the weather, colder the better). As long as you do the standard maintenance (change filter, belts, and fluids) this is a "bullet-proof" vehicle from a mechanical standpoint, but from just the little things like the door interior door handles (had both replaced under warranty, the car auto-locks when you go faster than 10mph and some passengers just yank on the handles) and the interior dome light (dealer tried to fix the wrong thing twice and I told them how to fix it and they wouldn't listen, and GM never responded to my certified letter or email) tend not to be so durable (of course this is preferable to mechanical breakdown). The only other things I didn't like this car was that it seems that people can't see this car (with all the SUVs out there I guess they're not used to seeing such a small vehicle) and I walked from two wrecks in this thing because the seatbelts work very well (second wreck I was rammed into the car in front of me and it totalled it, boy was I pissed as this car was very reliable). $7300 total cost in late October of 93 including tax, tags, shipping, but not insurance. Strength:
I have had our Metro for 5 years and it has been the most reliable vehilce I have ever owned. Great gas mileage plus ability to manuever in tight areas.
Weakness:
The only weakness would be the ability locate replacement parts. I would highly recommend this vehicle. It has no problem keeping up with traffic on the interstate. (I have a 5-speed with the 1.3 L engine). Super commuter car, plus works well on long distances. I have averaged 45 mpg on long trips. A super car in a small package. |

Chevy Metro LSI 4 cylinder 4 door
Strength:
Fairly good economy 35 mpg for an automatic, good A/C
Weakness:
I have had a lot of mechanical problems with this car. transmission leaked on the top (bad lines - took the dealer 6 months to find), parking brake lever went bad, AC compressor seal went bad in less than a year, there is a clunking in the rear that comes and goes, and the brakes make a noise sometimes. Power is ok at speed, just don't go uphill from a start running the AC. The car has good economy and AC. However, it is not very powerful. It loses value faster than any car I have owned in the past. It had many mechanical problems the first year but it seems to be settling out now. I would not buy another. Strength:
Cheap to operate. Easy to maneuver in traffic. Drives pretty well in snow.
Weakness:
Radio/Cassette isn't very good, but passable. Great car for commuting back and forth to work in the suburbs. Same price as a used car, but with the 36/36 warranty. I avoid driving it on major, four lane highways, too small and not enough power. This is the second Metro I have owned, it is a good buy if you are realistic about what you are going to get for the price and how you are going to use the car. Have had zero quality issues with this car. Radio sounds 'tinny' but at least you have something to listen to. Similar Products Used: Owned a 91 Metro for several years. |

I loved my Geo Metro - it was great on gas, kept up with all the cars on the highway and had all the comfort of any other bigger car: auto, stereo, air,...
Weakness:
Do not forget to change your timing belt at 60,000 miles: if you don't, it will break and ruin the engine. Great buy! |
