quality Our Malibu was in the shop constantly for the first three years. I honestly can't count the number of times. It was in for work on the windshield, armrest, seat cushion, trunk, brakes, ignition, fuel sensor.... After three years I gave up on fixing things. The car is nearly five years old and falling apart. I have owned three Chevrolet vehicles and this one will be my last. Similar Products Used: 1995 Chevrolet S10 1990 Chevrolet Lumina |

This car was built in the U.S.A not in some other country with a import motor.
Weakness:
Top heavy and with the reviews the breaks do need to be upgraded. I have read all of these reviews and I still think the Dodge Interiped is the worset car ever built. I still own a 1998 Interiped engine size 2.7, this car is just a accident on the roads waiting to blow up or kill someone ( what am I saying it has). Example: steering linkage breaking( teen girl and her boyfriend died of this problem), crankshaft or piston rod breaking etc. etc. there is a site " Dodge complaints.com" look at that. For me to get this car fixed it's going to cost me $3,000.00 to $7,000.00 and thats just for the motor and labor. The Malibu that I have now, is a dream I do have the check engine light and how to fix that, change the gas cap, there is not enough vaccum presure in the gas tank. roomy and comfortable
Weakness:
poorly made I bought this car with less than 100 miles on it. At 17, 000 miles i took it in for pulsating breaks I was told that my brake pads were wore and the rotors were bad. They were replaced after I contacted Chevy themselves. Now 13,000 miles my breaks were pulsating again and again my pads were shot and so were rotors but this time they only replaced pads and turned rotors I contacted Chevy and they basically told me it was because I live in Mich and drive in the Winter. What is up with that?? I am so frustrated that there is a problem with the rotors on these cars and Chevy won't figure out what the problem is. I have never been so disappointed in a car before. Mine is a V-6. I love it. Very roomy and great sound system in it.
Weakness:
All the stupid little things that are wrong with it that no mechanic can even figure it out. Maybe I should send it back and tell the people who made it they can have the p.o.s. Although I bought this car used, it was good for me for a few months. Then, my check engine light came one and then my air switch won't work on 1 or 2. I have been told that it is just the switch. Well, from what I have been reading, it is not only my car, it is also others. I am 18 and this is my first car. After this one, I will definately never buy from Chevrolet again. I know 4 others who's air won't work on 1 or 2. My car misses and yet the guys at the dealer don't know what is wrong with it. I love my car and I don't want to sell it. But, it looks like I am having no other alternative. It is very unstable and shakes. Nobody can figure it out. And it is hard to find mechanics you can actually trust to work on your car without screwing you over. |

Won't start !!! Bought this car with very few miles on it with remaining warr. We took it to the dealer just a few months after we purchased it for A.C. switch problem. They fixed it, but when I mentioned the car sometimes didn't start, the service man said unless the check engine light was on (and it wasn't and has never been) he could no do any thing about it. Now, almost a year into the car it often does not start. You can crank until the bat. is going low, but it won't start. Sometimes you leave it alone for an hour or so, then later it will start. What's the problem? While it was under warr. they would not work on it, but now I'm sure they will give it a try now that I must pay cash. |

When it rains it poors......when things start tearing up they dont stop I bought this car as a demonstration vehicle. Car done wonderful the first 10,000 miles, now that the warranty has ran out, the car started missing. At highway speeds the car has started jerking and feels very out of balance. And now at 38,000 miles the cars check engine light came on and i have no idea (or money) to find out what it is. It also started running hotter prior to the light coming on.....If anyone has any advice, or help please contact me. Similar Products Used: 2 prior Grand Ams |

Fun to drive, roomy, good gas mileage. Ours has been reliable EXCEPT FOR BRAKES
Weakness:
BRAKES. SEE ABOVE We purchased this car to replace a Chevy Lumina. We liked the styling and roomyness. After 17,000 miles we had to replace the brakes. After 13,000 miles the brakes went again. GM couldn't explain this. I looked at the calipers and found them to be inadequate for the car. THEY BEND WHEN THE BRAKES ARE APPLIED. This causes premature wear on the inside brake Pads, misalignment and overheating. In a word this brake system SUCKS. Any one who experiences this should raise hell with GM. I did, and they said this was "within spec". Brakes should last more than 10,000 miles. If more people complain maybe they will get the message. Write to Mr. Kurt Ritter, VP at GM. Address is: PO Box 33170 Detroit Mi. 48232. I also Filed a complaint with the NHTSB. This could be a serious flaw. Similar Products Used: Chev. Lumina S-10 PU |

Good looks! (alloys, spoiler, tinted windows). Runs Great (great pick up at highway speeds). Good Price. Very comfortable.
Weakness:
Lots of brake dust on front rims. Driver side cupholder too close to steering wheel. Noisy starter. Although I've only had my car a few of weeks, I have had absolutely no problems with it other than than I can't stop driving it. I bought my car with 85k miles on it and have put 2k in it in just three weeks, I have seen a lot of brake dust on the factory alloy rims and I hope that I don't have the problems that other people seem to be having with excessive brake wear and the car not starting. I will beware of these problems. So far I love the car, the way it looks, handles, rides, and runs. I am an owner of a 2000 Chevrolet Malibu. I bought the car new on December 29th of 1999. In the last several months, on quite a few occasions, the car has unpredictably failed to start, or died while being driven. I have of course taken the car to the dealership, but the dealer cannot identify the problem. The car will turn over, but it will not start. The first time I took the car to the dealer he changed the fuel filter and clean the supply lines. The second time after I took the car to the dealer (it had to be towed to the dealership after dying on a parkway), he changed the fuel pump. One week later the car failed to start again. After several attempts over (a few hours), I was able to start the car, but it then died on the parkway (again). Luckily, I was able to roll the car to a gas station, where I sat for quite some time trying to re-start the car in lieu of calling a tow truck yet again. I was able to somehow restart the car and make it home. The car only has 33,000 miles on it, but I own the car a little over three years. In addition to the frustration and logistical nightmare of being stuck without a car at unpredictable times, I have already paid the dealer $832 to fix the problem, and am still left without a drive-able car. |
