Strength:

Great engine. You can beat the absolute crap out of the 3.1 and it wont even blink. It can be a very fast car with some simple upgrades like exaust and intake. It handles very good with some minor upgrades. GM offers strut tower braces for 12 bucks. Makes car handle like a BMW. Paint is perfect after 11 years. No rust and interior is perfect.

Weakness:

The usuall. Brakes suck, no cupholders. Thats all I really can complain about.

I got the car from my dad. I race it in autocross with out any major modifications. All around execlent car. Looks good and is easy to work on.

Strength:

strong engine, roomy interior, great looks, draws attention, large trunk to fit all my stereo equipment with room left over, sporty, rare;low production numbers increasing value

Weakness:

very hard to work on engine, repairs are expensive, aftermarket parts are rare and also very expensive, high maintenance engine for those not mechanically inclined

Car is fast and will blow away 5.0's, if had chance to do again would buy in a second, sounds ballsy with a Borla Catback system I installed, looks great with aftermarket rims, very sporty in comparison to price, bought car with only 50K on it and havent had any problems since, would recomend car to anyone looking for fast, sporty car, with a relatively low price

Strength:

Engine power and reliability, roomy, pick-up, durability of the interior.

Weakness:

Braking System, no cup holders, the heating system in mine doesn't seem as powerful as it should, takes a bit to defrost. Replacement parts are really expensive for all parts of the car.

I used my Lumina in the uppermost section of Michigan's Upper Penisula and it drove great in the winter, once good snow tires were put on it. The only major problem besides the wearables, was the neutral switch in the transmission. When I had this problem, the battery was replaced, then the starter, and come to find out it was a $20 switch, that had $200 of labor. Other than that I have been driving mine hard, and it has 140,000 miles and still going, gotta get me thru school.

Strength:

Quick. It has the guts needed to put those Japanease cars to shame. Good highway car too. Rides smooth.

Weakness:

The 3.4 is a pain to work on. Even changing the battery is a 1 1/2 hour ordeal. No cup holders is kind of crummy, but with the speed, drinks would spill. Repairs also cost an arm and a leg.

I would definately buy this car if I could do it over again. I love it, and aparently, so do the chicks. It has guts, and looks, and is well worth it if you have some love and some cash for any repair. If you want an affordable sports car, and have the will for the upkeep, its a great car.

Model Reviewed: Chev Lumina Euro

Strength:

- Fast (surpringly fast for a sedan)
- Immediate acceleration
- Sporty looking
- Good interior

Weakness:

- Expensive to repair!
- Too stiff of a suspension

After 150000 kms the car needed everything. It gained a hesitation at 60km and after $1000 engine service and $1500 tranny rebuild, it was still there. Computer was even replaced. The car is a fine driver, but very
expensive to fix. Rear brakes always require the callipers to be replaced and rear struts are expensive too. The heater fan is not putting out enough to clear the windows, so when its cold, the windows always fog up.

We bought it used with 100,000 kms (62,500 mi) and now have 220,000km (137500 mi) in 5 years. In those 5 years put in $6800 in repairs. Its a car with impressive power, but I have to sell it because I can't afford the repairs. We are looking at a newer Lumina. I would recommend this car since its very powerful, but I think you should unload it at 150,000 km (93,000 mi) to avoid the repair costs. There is a reason why they stopped making the EURO.

Strength:

The Engine. The 3.1 can really haul. For a 3400 pound car this car can out accelerate the Mustang 3.8. The reliability of this car is outstanding.

Weakness:

The brakes. The rear calipers don't work. My dad and I were rotating the tires and notice that the rear rotors were all rust no shine, we looked on the inside of the roter and it was shiny. ony the inside pad was hitting but even it was at an angle. Where are the cup holders?

My parents had problems with this Lumina a few months after they bought it (2nd owners, I am the 3rd) from my grand parents. It would go for about 8 miles then die. So they parked it in the yard for 6 months at a time, drove it, it died, parked it again. Well about a month before my 16th birth day they tryed to start it, dead battery. They replaced that, but it would still die, while trying to fix the problem my dad replaced everythin from the spark plugs to the starter. Somehow he got it running. She has only died on me once, but started up 5 minutes later and has never treated me wrong again. The funny thing is the Tachometer malfunctioned and has given me multiplyed (2x) read outs. Let me put it this way, I idle at 1400 and have reached over 8500 (red it at 5500). I like my car. because it is LOUD! But I need a better car so I am looking into a z-34 with a 3.8L or a Nova w/ 454!
