very fast, especially for a four cylinder engine. yet it''s fuel efficient. handles very well. very responsive. everything is standard, don''t need to spend extra money on options. the 6 cd in dash changer w/ the seven speaker sounds great but the engine sounds even better...sometimes i like to turn off the stereo and just listen to the engine purr. =)
Weakness:
the sub woofer is not very loud, you can hardly notice is there. the car is under tired. they got rid of the gas cap holder. H.I.D. head lights will be nice. the suspension is a little stiff so kinda bumpy ride compare to a camry or accord. i still can''t believe i own one. this car is very fast and handles very well. it out performs my friends BMW 325i and he paid $8k more! the stock driver and front passager seats and the stock steering wheel is best of its class. the car has very little if any understeering, which is unheard of for a front wheel drive car. unless you don''t know how to (or don''t want to) drive a manual, if you''re planning to get a RSX you should get the Type S over the Base. i only paid $1000 more than my friend who owns a base. where else can you get 40 more hp for $1000? Similar Products Used: test drove a WRX, they''re nice car too but i own an Acura Integra for 7 years w/ 120k miles and that car still running like the day i brought it so i want to stick w/ Acura. |

Very fast car which will beat most anything out there, if thats your thing. Stuck together very well (North American car makers take note) Classy, sharp looks (hate the front grill on ALL Acuras by the way...is this a car or an advertising for bird beaks?...forget it) Having said that, there is a certain amount of prestige owning an Acura. Excellent clutch & shifter...very smooth...probably the best I''ve ever used.
Weakness:
4 cylinder?? YUCK..but hey, it works. Seems to be sitting too high, would look much better an inch or two lower. Bose (crap)...sorry folks, they would have done well to have a 200 watt JBL system in this thing. JBL..in all the music studios in the freakin'' world...hellooooooo?? Car seems too light..little bouncy on the highway when going over bumps...maybe I should pack on some tonnage...or throw the girlfriend in the trunk. (joke..no cards or letters...please) The wheels seem too small for this car, you may want to make them upgrade you to 17" rims. Thats what I have, looks much nicer!! No armrest on the center console. Red dash lights...would be nice to have a bit more imagination with the dash illumination. (please keep in mind that the writer is an extremely picky individual who uses hair spray) ? Oh...just remembered something...a friend at work bought one last November...he is having problems with his shifter...says it has gotten ''notchy'' going from first to second...says they are on it. Well...thats about it!!! Thanks for comin'' down folks!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Ok...this car falls into a unique category. There aren''t many real sport hatchbacks out there anymore. To me, its the perfect type of car. You get the power, the handling, the looks and a bit of class thrown in, and, you can throw large bits of crap in the back once the seats are folded down. Tell me, what other quality car (thats the key word...quality) is out there with the same attributes for such a price. Hello? Can''t hear you....?? BUELLER? BUELLER?...RIGHT! NONE!!!! Sure, the new Mercedes C-class sport hatch would be nice, but, not for $31k Canadian. That baby will set ya back about $40k if you want heat and a steering wheel. (you know what i mean) Also, the interior seems to be much smaller to me...I am 6''4" by the way, 200lbs...... very handsome...(any ladies read these reviews?) Ok...I digress. Then again, hows about a BMW 3 series with a trunk which can accommodate a large Grade "A" egg. Brown no less. So my point is practicality and value I guess. Which brings me to a real sore spot with me. I have bought over the years about 5 new North American cars over the years. These cars...well, I''m here to tell ya...they are TRASH!!! DO NOT BUY NORTH AMERICAN. The Japanese and the Germans make a much more appealling and reliable car. Believe me, it pains me to say this because I would LOVE to buy North American, but I have had the experience of owning both, and I won''t go back. You are getting very sleepy.....ok, on to the next box. (see below) Similar Products Used: Corvette 1990. Ford Probe GT 1993 & 1997. |

RSX Type-S
Strength:
I feel its an extrememly nice looking car if a bit understated. As a result, its not for everyone. Personally I wanted a car that was a bit more mature and refined, which the RSX is in comparison to its competition. The performance is also excellent. I am not a street racer by nature, but I''ve been in my fair share of stoplight jumps and the RSX fairs exceedingly well against most any competition short of a Corvette or the like. For comparison, I owned an RX-7 before this, and I haven''t felt like Im missing anything. The RSX is definitely faster than the Celica, and seemed nicer and more refined as well. The Celica was the front runner during my purchasing decision, until I finally drove the RSX. Additionally, the interior is very impressive, and helps the car seem much more expensive than it actually is. Overall this car is tightly put together, performance oriented coupe that won''t leave you wanting for much.
Weakness:
Weaknesses were fairly few and far between, however to be fair I do have a few minor gripes. While I am looking for a more understated look, perhaps its a bit too conservative. This could be largely offset with larger diameter wheels and or a more aggresive wheel design. I also feel that the engine, while powerful, is a bit buzzy at times, particularly if its cold. Finally, there are occasionaly problems from torque steer during fast take-offs on bumpy pavement. I have owned this car for several months at the time of this writing, and I must say I am quite pleased. When making my purchasing decision a few months ago, I also extensively test drove the Toyota Celica GTS as well as the Mitsubishi Eclipse and the Ford Mustang GT. I found them all to have strengths and weaknesses but none added up to the RSX in terms of the overall package. Excellent steering feel Wonderful 6-speed gear box Roomy interior Quiet and stable freeway ride
Weakness:
Poor cornering with too much body roll Not enough power for the extra weight of the car Exterior looks terrible (but so does the Celica) in my opinion Needs an LSD The next generation Integra is a great car, but I didn''t feel it quite lived up to all the hype. I took a RSX Type S for a spirited 30 minute test drive to see for myself what the talk was all about. The car is fun to drive. You can''t deny that. The steering has an excellent feel and the shifter is silky smooth. The power delivery was smoother than what I was used to from a VTEC engine. Give credit to the i-VTEC system doing its job. The straight-line acceleration was not good as my 2000 Integra Type R, but wasn''t far behind either. In a straight line, the RSX was about as fast as the Celica GTS. It would be a driver''s race between the two. Cornering, however, was not what I expected. I did not the expect a Type S vehicle to handle like a Type R, but it should have been better. I''ve had a lot of experience driving the Celica GTS, and the Celica is much better than the RSX in the handling department. Some better tires would help the RSX, but it needs more help than that. The body roll was a lot more than it should have been. I am very performance oriented, and I don''t mean to make the RSX sound like a bad performer. It''s a very capable car that''s fun to drive. However, it is no Integra Type R, and sadly doesn''t corner as well as the Celica GTS. However, it does excell in the luxury and comfort areas. The ride on the RSX is much nicer than the Celica or Integra. The interior is nice and spacious, and unlike the Celica and Integra, I had plenty of headroom even with the sunroof. Bottom line, the RSX is a very nice car. You need to get the Type S if you car anything about performance. I''d probably lean toward the Celica GTS if you are more performance minded over luxury. The RSX is geared toward a slightly different audience, and it''s advantages show that. Luxury is nice, but it comes at a cost of weight and decreased performance. The Type R model of the RSX should be a wonderful performer. Similar Products Used: 2000 Integra Type R 2000 Celica GTS |

having to pay sticker but got a spoiler and extra 2years of warrenty, the rear visiablitiy. One word describes the power of the Type S - DAMN!!!!! The first time I drove it was on a test drive and i was sold. I know your not suppose to rev it to the max before 500miles but i did on the test drive. No car salesmen, my father and me just killed a Mustang Bullitt. Last thursday I drove over to a local and empty business park - got her up to 124mph. Considering on entering the cannonball run next year with a few modifications. Junior Class of course :) THIS IS A MUST BUY for someone that can''t afford a NSX or S2000 Similar Products Used: 93 Camaro Z28 (auto) and 99 Grand AM GT |

The quality, handling and quickness are obvious. Utility of the hatch with the back seats down is tremendous. I''ve had two mountain bikes in the car without a problem and another time went camping with plenty of supplies. A real value.
Weakness:
None A great car. I drove the type-s and the base model and bought the base model because it had plenty of everything for real world driving. Like 95% of us, I rarely get out on an empty country road. When I do, the 160hp and handling ability of the base model bring plenty of smiles. Great value for the money- I think the sound system is great- who can complain about 7-speaker bose system with 6-disc in-dash CD, STANDARD? If you''re thinking about buying a boxter, buy an S2000. If your thinking about buying something a little cheaper, go no further...
Weakness:
So far, I haven''t found many.. the low visibility in the left-rear takes some getting used to, but other than that... Car is great- coming from a Porshe 924S, it leaves nothing to be desired. Transmission is awesome, clutch like butter. Haven''t hit the 600 mile mark yet, so I haven''t been able to open it up- but still has more than enough umph. Can''t wait till I can get the revs up high enough for the VTEC to really kick in.. Similar Products Used: Porshe 924S, my only other car. Fun to drive, but _extremely_ unreliable. Sheer power and speed. Can give an Evo vii or a WRX a run for the money. Recaro seats and a whopping 220 horses!
Weakness:
Interior a little bland, but hey, isnt it designed to be that way? Sorry, mates, but I actually own and RSX R(integra type R as known down under and the rest of the world)with 220bhp and a stock 0-60 in 6 secs flat. I think the States will only get the Type R in 2003, so be patient. With a little tinkling under the hood, this baby can do a sub 5. Plush Recaro race seats, fierce looking rear spoiler, and fine lookin short throw stick shift sums up the interior. Interior is minimalist to the core but still better then its predeccessor. Can go 120 mph which is enough for most application. Good standard features. The attention.
Weakness:
Cheaper interior than my Accord. No HomeLink. 160HP is not enough! Fun toy for cheap. Good alternative until my sis gets her Boxster. I wouldn''t take it for long trips but good for a weekend cruise or occasional race. Did one with a SC430 and it held up good. The interior does seem cheaper than my trusty EX V6 Accord. Try flexing the center console, see how much it moves. Like Nissan I guess everyone is cutting back cost and the interior takes a bite. Perhaps the best part of this purchase is getting attention from girls and jealous Integra owners. Too bad the rear bumper got reamed by some guy in the mall parking lot and now makes a cracking noise when going over the lane dividers. Not too happy about that... Anyway, one of the reviews below is bogus. The car came out a few months ago. Come on now... Similar Products Used: Family owns a car rental company. Japanese and European. |
