RSX Type S
Strength:
This car feels like a precision instrument. The leather steering wheel is nice and small, the shifter feels like a rifle bolt, and the Bose sound system furnishes decent audio. The headlights are strong at both high and low settings. Front leather bucket seats are very nice.
Weakness:
The Bose sound system, though high in audio quality and craftsmanship, is not as powerful as it could be. Cabin noise level is quite high, although this may be simply a sporty-car characteristic instead of a weakness. Rear window is high and small, so you basically have to drive the RSX like a truck, using your side-mounted mirrors. Aopart from these negatives, however, I am wild about my RSX Type S. This car is unmitigated fun to drive. It is powerful if you aren't scared to wind the engine through those crisp-shifting six gears. The car is supple, and although the suspension produces a stiff ride, as a former owner of a '69 BMW 2002,I would rather feel the road anyway. Fit and finish are excellent, the climate control is effective, and I've gotten as much as 34.3 MPG on a 250-mile trip. Strength:
Appearance, quality of manufacturing, handling.
Weakness:
Stereo, keychain FOB, gas tank pressure sensor thing, all minor annoyances Awesome little car, bigger than it looks. It takes me everywhere, as well as my girlfriend's semi concert grand harp (believe it or not). Drives great, still gets looks after 1 year. Similar Products Used: 2000 Accord, 2000 Eclipse |

Strength:
-High quality interior -Great control layout -High build quality -Stiff sporty ride -Exterior Styling -Rear room isn't bad for a 2-door hatch
Weakness:
-Radio tuning -Stereo performance, this will be upgraded -blind spots, these take some adjustment I traded in my 6 month old underpowered (but nicely equipped) Mazda Protege ES for this car. Since this car's release I have done nothing but drool over it. The quality, the styling, the name. I am a fan of the 3-letter names that Acura uses. I have the base model with nothing but mud-guards added. Similar Products Used: -2002 Mitsubishi Eclipse GT -2001 Audi A4 1.8T -2001 Toyota Celica |

Strength:
-Great smooooth power -much better low-end torque -definitely tighter chasis -way less body roll -quicker steering reponse -better quality build (not that the old integra didn't have good quality, just not this good). -great looking interior. -much quieter than the integra -Just about better than the GSR in every way!
Weakness:
-too quiet inside the car (takes away that thrilling Vtec rush) -engine way too smooth (also takes way the Vtec rush) -Feels like the beast has been tamed somewhat. Being the owner of a 1994 Integrs GSR, I was eager to test drive my friends new type-S. My first impressions of the car is that it doesn't look that bad at all from the outside. The rims look like a cheap silver from far away but up close they look pretty good, very high quality. And the interior looks great as well. Trust me, this car looks so much better in person than it does in pictures. The biggest thing that struck me about this car compared to my GSR was that the engine was so smooth! I was driving around at 5,000 to 6,000 rpms and didin't even notice until I looked down at the rpm gauge. In my GSR, my engine would have been as loud as hell already. It doesn't really feel any faster than my GSR, but that's probably because its too quiet inside the car and that takes away a lot of the thrill. But this new engine difinitely does have more low-end torque. In my GSR the power doesn't seem to push until after 3,000 rpms but in this car the engine pushes from about idle all the way up. This new integra has difinitely matured in just about every department. Would I trade in my beloved GSR for the new Type-S? I definitely would! performance, handling, presence, relaibility,
Weakness:
Bose sterio system is nice but could be a little louder. Takes premium fuel I have been reading some of the past entries about the RSX and am not impressed. I own the Type S and find it to be a great car..Remember Honda's slogin "Simplicity". I think that best describes the RSX. It has everything you need without all the frills. RSX TYPES
Strength:
1) 200HP 2) VERY TIGHT 6 SPEED 3) ATTENTION TO DETAIL ON DASH, SEATS, AND THE REST OF THE INTERIOR 4) CLIMATE CONTROL 5) 6 DISK IN DASH AND BOSE SYSTEM SOUNDS GREAT FOR FACTORY. WONT HAVE TO PUT IN AFTER FACTORY STEREO FOR 1ST TIME. 6)GAS ECONOMY AND STILL HAS 200HP 7)EXTERIOR STYLING IS NOT TOO CRAZY LIKE TOYOTA CELICA 8)VERY FUN TO DRIVE AND HANDLES GREAT 9)HAS GOOD LOW RPM TORQUE (READ ALOT ABOUT NO TORQUE AT LOW RPM, NOT TRUE)
Weakness:
1) NO ARM REST (TOO BUSY SHIFTING SWEET 6SPEED ANYWAY) 2) COULD USE 17 IN RIMS 3) FOG LIGHT $500 OPTION I DROVE AND LOOKED MANY CARS BEFORE I DECIDED TO BUY MY ACURA RSX TYPE S. I KNEW AS SOON AS I SAT IN THE CAR THAT IT WAS THE ONE. THE ATTENTION TO DETAIL AND PERFORMANCE WERE UNREAL. IT IS THE MOST FUN I HAVE EVER HAD DRIVING A CAR. I TRY TO FIND EVERY EXCUSE TO DRIVE THAT I CAN. I LOOKED AT ALL THE CAR REVIEW WEB SITES FOR MONTHS BEFORE I GOT MY CAR. SO IF ANY ONE IS TRYING TO DECIDE BETWEEN THE RSX AND ANOTHER CAR BUY THE RSX. I TEST DROVE A 02 SUBARU WRX, 02 MITS ECLIPSE GT, 02 VOLKSWAGEN GTI, 02 NISSAN SENTRA SPEC V, 02 NISSAN ALTIMA AND AN 02 MUSTGANG GT BEFORE BUYING THE RSX. ALL THOSE CARS HAVE CERTAIN AREAS WERE THEY EXCELL AND MAY BE BETTER THAN THE RSX BUT DONT HAVE THE TOTAL PACKAGE. FOR EXAMPLE THE ALTIMA (V6), MUSTANG, AND WRX HAVE A LITTE MORE POWER BUT YOU CANT GET A WRX IN LEATHER AND IS MORE EXPENSIVE, THE MUSTANG'S QUALITY IS QUESTIONABLE, AND THE ALTIMA WOULD COST 28000 OR MORE WITH LEATHER, 6 DISK IN DASH CD, LEATHER, SUNROOF, ETC. THE GTI IS CHEAPER AND HAS LOTS OF OPTIONS BUT IS PUT TOGETHER IN MEXICO AND DOESNT MATCH THE PERFORMANCE OF THE RSX. THE NISSAN SENTRA SPEC V IS CHEAPER BUT DOES NOT HAVE THE STYLING AND SOPHISTICATED LOOK OF THE ACURA (LAVA SEATS). THE SPEC V IS ALSO A LITTE BEHIND ON THE PERFORMANCE TOO. THE MITS ECLIPSE STEREO IS NOT AS GOOD AND MOORE EXPENSIVE WITH LEATHER SUNROOF, ETC. NONE OF THOSE CARS HAVE THE PERFORMANCE, PRICE, QUALITY, AND OPTIONS IN ONE PACKAGE LIKE THE RSX TYPE S. I LOVE THIS CAR AND URGE YOU TO BUY ONE IF IT IS AMONG THE LIST OF CARS YOU ARE LOOKING AT. Strength:
1-Price (priced under Toyota Celica and Mits Eclipse and everything comes standard) 2-Styling (subjective-i like it) 3-Gas Mileage (high revving i still avg around 27-29 mpg, about 50/50 hwy local) 4-Handling (slightly resembles that of a BMW) 5-Ample space (lots of room for driver and plenty of cargo space due to fold down rear seats) 6-transmission (very tight, and 5 gears for automatic can't be beat...the semi-automatic changer helps, but it still doesnt compare to an actual manual transmission)
Weakness:
1-Poor visability (Car has alot of blind spots and rear windows are very small, especially on the driver's side since the headrest is in the way) 2-Below average interior- (The temp. gauges are pretty tacky, and the glove compartment is held in place by one hook and is made of plastic. I put something in there that weighed 2 lbs for two weeks and its has permanantly warped the plastic out of place) 3-Shoddy tires (If you have the money, I suggest dumping those michelins and get something better. acura has a poor reputation of putting very underperformancing tires on their cars. flooring the engine, even on my automatic, will cause wheels to spin) 4-rear wiper placement (the rear window wiper is placed on the passenger side of the car, which leaves a huge hole in the driver's upper left side of the window. This reduces already poor rear visiability) 5-weak stereo (poor fm reception and very unpowered stock reciever) 6-road noise (this car is incredibly loud past 60 mph, i dont know if a large portion of this is attributable to the p.o.s. mich pilot tires) 7-poor paint job (ive only had my car for three months, but this is our family's third acura [88 legend, 99 tl] and all of Overall I would say the car has performed above my expectations; however, compared to the other cars in the Acura line it can be considered underpowered and unrefined. I purchased the base model automatic and there isnt a great deal of power until hte VTEC kicks in around 5000 rpm. At 22,000 I'd say this car is a great car if your not expecting too much. Strength:
Power, handling, overall fun to drive. Honda engine is known for reliability. Base model is very affordable.
Weakness:
Relatively modest power. Traded in a Nissan Altima with a broken radiator for this car. That''s right I drove my car in to the dealership with steam coming from under the hood, hoping to drive out with something a little more reliable. In hind sight that was probably not a good idea as it was a clear indication that I would leave with a new car. Decided to get the base 5 speed manual as it was more affordable for my budget. I thought it had enough power for me and I didn''t think I would be driving around at over 5500 rpm(which is when the power on the type S kicks in) anyway. So far so good. I love the overall feel of the car. Very fun to drive. Adequate power. Handles well. No problems yet. My only regret is that, because the car is so fun to drive, I wish I had gotten the Type S. |

Weakness:
Blind spot out of rear passenger windows very annoying. Super High out of the factory... this car is in desperate need of lowering, after that expect many good looks from everyone. Driven the car for about two weeks and have not let it rest since I purchased it. Sweet Tranny, sweet engine, smooth ride, and crazy nice interior and for under 25 grand to boot. Was looking at a WRX... but the RSX Type S actually costs 4000 dollars less than a WRX sedan. Similar Products Used: 91 Integra RS 95 Civic EX |
