Strength:

Build quality, leak-proof top, performance from the V6, sound insulation, and quality of interior materials (leather, wood, etc.). And oh, by the way, did I mention the car is drop-dead gorgeous?

Weakness:

There are blind spots when the top is up (unavoidable in a convertible), and the back seat is a little snug for adults.

Unbelievable!!! This is the most well-built, solid automobile I have ever owned...truly amazing for a convertible. The performance from the V6 is great, I never have trouble merging onto the highway, especially with Mercedes' remarkable "Touch Shift". And oh, by the way, the car is drop-dead gorgeous!!!

We compared this car to the BMW 3-Series convertible (cheap feeling materials inside and not nearly as quiet), the Saab 9-3 convertible (felt like overcooked pasta compared to the rock-solid Benz) and the Volvo C70 converitble (more of a boulevard cruiser than a driver's car).

I bought the 2001 CLK320 coupe because I loved the looks of the car.

The engine needs more power and I wish I could have afforded the 8 cylinder.

The brakes are great. They never fade.

The interior is poorly done, full of cheap plastic an stiff leather. My car, like many others, suffers from a slew of rattles.

The car handles like a Cadillac. There is much too much body roll.

All in all, I don't think I received $47,000 worth of car and I'd never buy another.

Hello, BMW?

Strength:

Beautiful interior and exterior (design, fit, and finish).
High torque at low RPMs make it great for city/suburban driving.
Very smooth and quiet ride (no squeaks or rattles in mine).
Among the most classy cars on the road.
Just as smooth at 100mph as at 30mph.
Nice cup holders.
Stereo system.
K3 package is a must-have in Florida (moon-roof, rain-sensing wiper, rear sun-shade).
Thoughtful engineering in all aspects of the car.
Rear passengers are pampered by armrest, headrest, sunshade, cupholders, storage tray... (sometimes I wish I was back there).

Weakness:

No left foot-rest/dead pedal.
No coin-holder (maybe I need to read the manual).
I am not used to a foot-actuated parking brake.
More blind spots than my last car.
Would be nice to have 17-inch standard wheels, instead of 16, but at least the new style looks good.

I bought a black CLK320 with charcoal leather, K3 package and 6-disc CD changer. I have been very impressed with the interior and exterior styling; I looked at just about every sport/luxury coupe available, and this appealed to my taste the most, by far. I looked at the new BMW 330Ci within minutes of the MB, and the MB is a notch above, but to be fair, the BMW seems more focused on the sport aspect. I also looked at the Saab 9-3, Volvo C70, Porsche Boxster, Audi A6, Honda Accord. You get what you pay for.
So far, I am having a blast driving this car. The ergonomics are great. The handling (steering and cornering) is surprisingly good for a smooth, quiet, luxurious ride, albeit shy of my former Bimmer. It's a head turner too. The stereo rocks; good to have plenty of standard bass. The eccentric sweep mono-wiper is cool. My experience with the dealer (MB of Miami) has also been the best of my 3 new car purchases (knock on burl walnut).

1994 BMW 325iS - My last car had a firmer ride and amazing steering and handling: I felt like I could put the car exactly where I wanted it, instananeously. I also liked the response of the manual transmission. I never had a problem with the engine. Interior quality was disappointing (dashboard fit, headliner sagged, glove box, no cup-holder, weak radio). The Benz is just a different (and exceptional) car! There is a little more body roll during cornering, but it's better in every other way.
