Strength:

Lots of features that are very high-tech for a luxury car in the early 80's, 500,000 miles with a new tranny at 250k and no problems so far except electrical, The engine is pretty smooth for a nearly 20 year old car.

Weakness:

Electrical problems are common in all old car's. The headlights are hard to replace. Hard to find parts, There is alot of wind noise and tire noise, but what do you expect from a 20 year old car.

I got this car from my dad for $1600 bucks, I got it with 400,000 miles with original engine and on it's 2nd tranny and the car still runs fine. Sometimes the tranny can shift hard and lots of wind noise. Styling is nice and boxy, just how i like it. I also own a 1998 Lincoln Mark VIII and proud of the reliability of my cars. I am a lincoln man.For being 20 years old it's a pretty good car.

Strength:

Unbeatable exterior styling, Love that ritzy, rich, comfortable interior, Very powerful Intech 32v DOHC V8 at 275 h.p., Enough gizmos and gadgets to keep you company in the car for hours. Exellent Alpine Stereo system, My first brand-new car that has had no problems in the first year. Runflat tires are usefull. Lowest priced V8 luxo-sedan on the market.

Weakness:

Lincoln should lighten the doors a bit and add sound insulation, Runflat tires give a harsher ride than the standard tires.

The Intech accelerates with a pleasinf exhaust note. Love cutting off BMW's only to my surprise a 740il driver actually tried to cut me off. I was loaded with 5 Passengers and a full trunk of cargo, He was the only person in his car, when he floored it i saw him smile, but i floored it and passed him at 115 m.p.h.. The brakes are world class and they can stop on a dime. The structure is incredibly stiff. The seats are comfy and i could sleep in them all day. Love the system check which tells me all about the car with a touch of a button. If you buy one don't ever turn traction control off, because even in the summer on a dry road the wheels will spin with the littlest amount of gas.

I reccommend this car to people who want a great luxury car with lots of features and can afford it.

I don't reccommend it to people who previously owned cadillac's because they will fall in love with this car.

Strength:

Comfortable and roomy, nice smooth ride. Excellent stereo system. Spacious trunk, and nice mag wheels. I also get many compliments from family and friends. My favorite thing is the speedometer and tachometer dash lights look like red lasers. Very Impressive. Also the personal setting features, (express windows, auto lights, reversable windows, etc.)

Weakness:

Front wheel drive.

It the most comfortable ride I have ever been in. I can't wait to take it cross country. It's like riding a cloud.

Strength:

I like the smooth ride and impressive technology found in this car, the engine is silky smooth and the dashboard design is attractive, the dual exhaust provides the motor and driver with a nice deep groan.

Weakness:

the transmission upshift from 1-2 gear is harsh when you floor it but beter than most cars, the styling is not to my liking, but i still like it. My next car is either a 1998-2001 or 2002 continental. I have had no problems so far except that a Fuse for the windshield wipers blew once 2 years ago, Other than that standard maintainence.

I got this car used in 1996 and since then its been trouble-free, I like the adjustable suspension and steering that allow the driver to dial up his/her's preferences unlike any other vehicle on the road.

Strength:

Comfortable seats for long trips...640-miles a day felt fine...handling in "normal" mode is outstanding, "firm" seldom used...2-driver selections for seat postion, mirrors, etc. terrific for self and short wife...trunk holds my foursome's golf bags easily...fit and finish good with nice luxury touches like real birdseye maple wood trim...Alpine sound system is very good...gasoline milage averages 21 mpg around town and as high as 26 mpg on highway at 70-75 mph...87 octane fuel has worked just fine.

Weakness:

Quite a bit of service needed first year, including "sand blasted" windshield replaced, mirror with defective compass replaced, bumper trim replaced...horn very difficult to activate, downright dangerous...annoying wind/tire noise...marginal rear sear legroom...de-contenting, such as no double sunvisors as provided on previous models...dealer doesn't provide loaner or even van service to my home 9-miles distant

After 24,000-miles, I'd call it a very nice driver's car with luxury touches only found in more expensive vehicles, but must wonder whether Lincoln will continue offering Continentals. The progressive de-contenting noticed after looking at 1997 and 1998 models; plenty of Town Cars, but few Continentals on my dealer's lot; rumors that future Continentals will be 6-passenger seating only, plus a Lincoln owner's poll asking opinions on a "touring" Town Car version, are disturbing. My wife and I like our Continental very much, but I probably wouldn't recommend buying a new one to anyone else.

Strength:

strong motor has more than enough passing power, 260 h.p. d.o.h.c. Intech V8 very smooth + you cant hear it run from the inside, JBL stereo the best ive heard yet in a car, the seats are very comfortable, intereior is pure luxury, exterior is very attractive, heated seats work very fast, auto-dimming mirror works unlike cadillacs, torquey motor- i was going up a steep hill that my last car (97 tauras sho) couldnt even reach 75 mph but my continental reached 120 mph easily at 2:00 am, i love the adjustable steering and suspension controls, very high tech features that never fail.

Weakness:

none but- at 30k i went to a oil change place and they changed my oil about 30 seconds after i left i heard a warning beep and the message center said 5% oil life remaining, low oil pressure so immediatly i stopped and checked my oil i found that they forgot to add oil back in my car, immediatly after that i preceeded to my mechanic to make sure no damage was done and he said everythings perfect. Could use more sound insulation.

very nice car for literary half the price of the competition, the Ultimate Luxury Vehicle, Lincoln Continental. I would reccommend this car to anyone looking for a trouble free, reliable new car arond 40k. If you're a business man like me and take long trips, forget the company car and get a continental.

Strength:

good looking exterior, beutiful interior, everything fits together and the materials are high quality, the car is very dependable, 15000 miles and no problems at all, i could sleep in the seats they are so comfortable, my 1998 BMW 540i has had some major problems before 8000 miles. the lincoln is much more reliable than the BMW, the motor is very quiet and surprisingly quick and smooth, the transmission shifts so smooth you wouldnt notice it when it shifts without looking at the tach, i got myn fully loaded, the tires grip and ride very well, when you pop the hood the engine compartment is very attractive, zero road noise gets in the cabin.

Weakness:

doors are a little heavy, the car could use more sound insulation.

the car is a great value for the money, it looks very good, i love the adjustable steering and suspension. io have had no problems so far and i wont have any. the transmission is amazingly smooth, the alpine stereo sounds better than the stereo in my BMW 540i, i love the handling, the cd player is in the center console not in the trunk, its so luxurious i would sleep in the car and no road noise gets in the car.

Strength:

Everything is luxury. It is a beutiful car. The 24-hour rescue service works very well (see my dislikes).

Weakness:

1. At 800 miles the engine siezed and had to be replace - took over a week.
2. The car was towed to the nearest Ford dealer who did not want to give me a loaner - a Lincoln specialty, but I guess not for Ford owners.

Although this vehicle is produced with the highest quality control, I would be reluctant to buy another because the engine might just quit any time.

great car, recommend it for anyone who needs a large, fast, powerful v-8 luxury sedan with enough gadgets and gizmos to boogle your mind. test drive one and youll be very impressed. The suspension and steering are adjustable via the driver select system. The car looks very good. If lincoln advertised this car more people would buy one. very dependable.
