Strength:

Fast, looks great, and you don't have to have any game to get all the ladies...

Weakness:

torque isn't amazing, and wheels in the front will go out before the ones in the back (as i found out testing its handling capability at 110 around a turn and ended up in my neighbors front yard...)

If you don't want people staring at you I wouldn't purchase this car. I've had a blind man compliment me on this beast. I can't say I've owned a porsche or high end mercedes, but I can say that when you pull up next to one you've got there attention.

Retractable hardtop convertible, sets the bar for interior luxury, best Navigation System made & that Mark Levinson sound system tops any other vehicle; cost is considerable under it's competitors but JD Powers highest rating in performance & maintenance! What more can be said! It's the least expensive yet best in its class.

Weakness:

Interior rear window cleaning difficult with seat & aerondynamic glass piece right up against the bottom half of rear window - have to retract roof partially to clean.

AWESOME! I've had ragtop convertibles in the past & this new retractable hardtop takes the cake! Tighter ride & feel than Porche, Mercedes SL & Jag XK series - and I've had them all.

POWER! The thing is super fast. Also, quiet. And it looks great. People are suprised when I tell them the year. Maybe Lexus enthusiests would know the the year, but most people thing it's new. Being a Toyota/Lexus, it's quite reliable. I've heard of people getting 300k miles on their well-cared for Lexus SC. I also feel really safe in the car. The doors are really heavy, which may be a pain at times, but if I ever get hit on the side, I have confidence that I'll be just fine.

Weakness:

Maybe it's just my car, but the leather is a little hard. Coming from clothe upholstry, I am a little spoiled in that area. The trunk is also smaller than I would like, as is the glove compartment. It also gets awful gas milage!

Let me begin by saying that I love this car. Honestly, I bought it because it looked good, but after driving it, I understand why Lexus owners swear by them. The ride is so smooth! It takes road defects with the greatest of ease. The engine is very quite, both inside of the car, and when you're standing outside. I was checking out the headlights one day, and told a friend to start the car... it was already started. That's a cool realization. As for the interior, there are a couple if wear and tear issues, such as the paint next to the knobs. Also, the LCD is a fuzzy due to, what I think was, incompatible cleaner. This car costs a ton to fix! Not only fix, but to replace the key is going to cost me ~$400.

Strength:

Fit and finish of the car is unmatched by any I have seen. With 80,000 miles on it, the paint and interior look as good as the day it rolled of the showroom floor. Ergonomics of this car are also first rate. Every control from the seat switches to radio feel like a very natural movement. The seats are supportive but firm and the quiet interior make long trips fly by. Even the back seat is reasonably comfortable for a coupe. The inline 6 is the smoothest 6 cyl. I have ever seen. I actually balanced an nickel on the manifold while the engine was idilng. Stereo is great for stock equipment. The timeless lines of the car make it look new still today. There is a reason Lexus only made minor "facelift" changes to the car since 1992 - they had a great product. If they still made them, I would buy a new one today.

Weakness:

None, other than I would like a bit more power. But that is my fault because I purchased a SC300 instead of a 400 to save a buck or two.

Most perfect luxury sport coupe on the market. I bought the car brand new in '99, and have had almost 5 years of trouble free service.

Power, Luxury, Reliability, Style, Class, Tranny, It's Better than most new cars, to beat it on a new car you are looking at spending 40,000-$50,000

Weakness:

I get pulled over quite a bit for no reason as I'm in my mid 20's and the cops think it's a new $50,000 car and They think that they will find things in the car, I started carry a tape recorder in my car for that reason, and the problem has gotten better since. First 3 months of owning the car I got pulled over 6 times every time they asked to search the car (which was quickly denied) and not once did I get a ticket. Other than that There are no weaknesses to this car!!!

Buy Far the best Car that I have had the pleasure of driving. I love the accelaration, the Trany, reliability, style, luxury, Back seat room is more than enough for the sports car that the SC is, and the looks I get while in it!!! This car during passing will go from 60 to 90 by the time your going by the your passing, it really suck driving another car after the SC400 because most everything else is a DOG. The only thing that this car has needed so far in Brakes $650(this is because of my beating on it) other than that just keep up the routine maintance and the car will run forever. I do have 165,000 miles on the car. Some of the wear is in the seat the leather is cracking some do to extreme temp changes in Minnesota and the lack of tinted windows by previous owner. I do have a crack in the leather right by the window, I have notice that some others do have from looking at buying another one for G/F on EBAY. I have put some 17" chrome rims on it with low profile tires, this increase handling quite a bit, and gave it a great over all feel, I've also tinted the windows. Both of the above have made me get even more looks, People still think its a new car and its 10 years old. I LOVE MY SC400!!!!

Its an amazing car.

Weakness:

The lexus dealership hasn't given me one as a gift.

What an amazing car! One day I will purchase this baby on my own--> but for now I'm in school and I have a ways to go before I start making sc 430 money. I just wanted to write a review-- and pretend I owned the sc 430 just for kicks. Yeah, feel free to buy me one if you like :) I'm just kidding, if you have this car, I'm happy for you, I hope you enjoy it.

Reliability, Looks MINT/NEW after all these years, great stereo system and drives like a DREAM!

Weakness:

Those annoying lights that go out on the dash!

I just purchased my 92' Lexus SC300 w/118,000 miles on it. Some people say I'm crazy, "why did you buy a car so old"? I think they are stupid. The 1992-2000 Lexus SC300 body styling really doesn't change, if only slightly, it is the SAME car from what I can see. I am not one to sink my hard earned money into vehicles that depreciate GREATLY, I'd rather sink my money into my home or my retirement fund, I'm 29 and I plan to retire very wealthy. With all of that said, I LOVE LOVE LOVE this car and have no qualms about buying the 92'. It is Gold Color and in absolute Mint condition. It looks new. The only thing that is worn is the lights on the speedometer are slowly going out! It has gold / chrome Lexus custom rims on it which was a plus when I bought it. The dealer could have sold it for $10,900 but it was his mothers car and she said ask $8500 for it! I just got the deal of the century! It drives like a dream, the stock stereo is better than my husbands' Lexus ES300 stereo. Great car, I am so impressed, will probably keep this car for 4 years and upgrade to a newer SC 300 or 400 when I go to buy again, USED of course!!

Convertable hardtop sets this car apart from its competitors. Sleek styling and superb fit makes owning worth the price.

Weakness:

Tire. Low profile run-flats only get about 11-14k miles. The "non run-flats" will get about 25k. This is a small price to pay even though the tires are pricey.

Finest luxury sports car you can find. Blows Mercedes and BMW out of the water. Quick, responsive, luxurious-- what more can you ask?

Strength:

This car is great package as is. No need for a V8. With 225 horses, a great ride, large trunk, outstanding looks, paint, style, etc. These are first class cars and I'd recommend a used one over any newer car.

Weakness:

Attitude of Lexus dealers and service departments. They think just because you have the top of the line that repair costs are not a concern. When checking on some service the manager commented that 'most owners' don't even ask the price for repairs. To that I say BS..........most of us like luxury cars, minimal maintenance and 'reasonable' repair costs.

I purchased this sc300 with less than 10K mi. from a dealer. It's lipstick red with black leather. I've about 77K miles and put nearly all of them on it. I'm retired now and was shopping for new cars so decided to look at car reviews. You can be a believer that most people who see a 95 Lexus coupe thinks it's a newish car. I can't find 'anything' that compares with this car for less than three times what I can sell it for. I have used standard (reg) unleaded gas since 95 wihtout so much as a ping or performance problem. I had one warranty repair; a leaky rear tail light (R). I have done basic service (synthetic oil) since new, replaced the serpentine belt, and had the tran. fluid flushed. Haven't even done the brakes yet! I get a few squeeks from the rubber busings in the suspension system but other than that tiny issue the car has been 'el perfecto'. I'm either going to sell it just because I've had it so long or bite the bullet and do some recommended service. (timing belt about $450).
