Strength:

Beautiful exterior and interior design, smooth ride, very comfortable, good acceleration from 220 hp V-6, all necessary amenities, royal treatment from Lexus dealership, much much more.........

Weakness:

None so far

This is the first Lexus I have owned and I can definitely say that it will NOT be the last. This car is great! I was blown away by how much better it is than other cars I've driven in the past. I always thought BMW and Mercedes were the best luxury cars out there, but now that I've switched over to Lexus I am very happy with my choice. As an added bonus, Lexus dealers actually treat you like a human being which is nice compared to the horrible treatment I've received from BMW and Mercedes dealers in the past. They act like they're actually doing you a favor by showing you their cars. Give me a break! When you go to a Lexus dealership, they're happy to see you and they will treat you better than you've ever been treated at a car dealership. Go to your nearest Lexus dealer and see what I mean......I didn't believe it either until I actually went to one and found out for myself.
As for the car, it is nothing short of spectacular. The fit and finish are superb(Lexus is better in this department than any other car on the market IMHO), the exterior design turns heads everywhere I take it, the interior surrounds you in comfort and elegance and while it's not as fast as a Ferrari, it is plenty powerful for a luxury sedan and very smooth in the process. The car drives effortlessly and is so quiet that you can't even tell if the engine is running most of the time. It goes over bumps and imperfections in the road like you're driving on glass and it has every option imaginable. Well, I thought it had everything until I checked out the specs on the LS430.......wow, that car is loaded with things that shouldn't even be available in an automobile. It costs nearly $30,000 more than my GS, however, so I'll sacrifice a few options and keep the extra cash right now.
In closing, I can definitely recommend this car to prospective buyers and I think they will be 100% satisfied with their purchase. I know that I am thrilled with my new GS 300 and I'll be enjoying it for several years.

Strength:

This car feels safe to drive, has a very good build quality to it. My particular model has : Leather, A/C, Navigation, 12 Disc CD/MD, Tilt Steering, Heated Seats etc..etc..etc.. we could go on !

Weakness:

No.1/ THE RUNNING COSTS! It's all very well running a car like this in the U.S.A where fuel is dirt cheap (I go to the states 3 times a year and fill up a 4.0 jeep for approx $25.00) but in England it costs me approx £10.00 per 49 miles. This works out at approx 19-20 miles to the gallon !
No.2 / I had to buy a new starter motor at £300.00 (Ouch !!)
No.3 / ACCELLERATION NOT THE CARS STRONG POINT ! Yes, it has 225 BHP on tap, but because of the body size and pull of the car your 0-60 is sluggish !

A very smooth ride (Slight oversteer on corners) but overall a quiet cockpit, Pure luxury (you could almost fall asleep!). Because of expensive parts, sluggish performance I can't give this an excellent rating.

Bad acceleration, bad handling, I tried to race a Honda Accord and it beat me....This is a pretty horrible car....Car is bad for weather and the seats are very uncomfortable...the stereo sounds really bad compared to that of Acura...Horsepower is probably lower than it actually is.l..and traction control is terrible during bad weather

Weakness:

Recurring problem with acceleration which is a severe safety hazzard. Although I have had this problem since the begining Lexus has not come up with a solution because they can not "mimic" the problem when it is in the shop. After two near death experiences I have parked the car.
Headspace is tight for folks who like to sit upright.

I could not in good conscience advise anyone to buy any Lexus.

Great handling rear wheel drive car. Excellent seating, sound system and quiet interior.

Weakness:

The security system has a flaw that makes it vulnerable.

Can't recommend the car since Lexus would not stand behind it's promise of customer satisfaction. Other than that, a fine automobile.

Strength:

Powerful yet refined engine, sumptious interior, fantastic handling and response, quiet and comfortable ride, powerful aircon, HID headlamps.

Weakness:

Irritating wind noise at 100kmh above. Restricted rear leg room. exterior wing mirrors do not retract automatically, plastic lenses covering the dashboard meters, insufficent cabin storage space, 2 driver memory settings only, eats petrol.

This car is priced similarly to the Merc E200(new) in Singapore at US$130k(cars cost a bomb here in Singapore). Was driving a Merc E200 previously and the GS300 trashes it in every way possible, except for the prestige that the 3-pointed star brings. Singaporean drivers place more emphasis on prestige and status than on the performance of the car itself. The Merc E200 handles like a whale on rollerblades, has a weak engine and is lousy at low RPMs and the interior just plain sucks.
Support and aftersales maintenance/service is excellent which is a hallmark of the Lexus marque.
Raced with a BMW 728i a week ago at a traffic junction and left the Beemer eating dust :) Did the same with a CLK :)

Compared to the BMW 520i, the BMW handles better but the interior just does not reek of luxury that the GS300 exudes. The S-Type is very nice-looking but cost a lot more and I have doubts about its reliability. The S320 and Passat are just waaaaaay outclassed.

All in all, a very good sports sedan disguised as an executive salon. A real pleasure to drive or be driven in. Highly recommended.

Only qualm is that the GS300 really eats petrol (Octane 98 in Singapore is approximately US$0.8 per liter) and there is that irritating wind noise when the car is travelling 100kmh and above.

Strength:

This car has tremendous power for a supposed luxury car. I'm amazed at the quickness and low end torque for an automatic. The car also brakes very well when you need to.

I splurged and got the Navigation package and it's worth every cent. The system is very easy to use and also entertains my kids when we are driving. The directions for inputting destinations are simple and the feature of finding points of interest such as ATM's and gas stations comes in handy.

Another note, mine is black. I opted for the "black pearl" trim instead of silver or gold. Makes the car look very good and I get lots of comments on the trim.

Weakness:

I gave this a lot of thought and I really haven't found a weakness after owning the car for a year. The only possible down side is I opted for the low profile tires and wheel upgrade package. You will wear the rubber down real fast if you jump on this car coming off the line!! BUT, I knew this when I got this package and it's a function of my driving style. Not a reflection on the car.

I know my GS doesn't have the power and excitement of either the M5 or E55, but bottom line is I love this car!! I did tons of research before buying it since car shopping is like a hobby to me.. Was an eye lash away from ponying up the deposit on a new M5... Several things kept me from doing this: attitude of "we could care less" at the Dallas area BMW dealerships; lead times of when I'd get the car varied from 6 months to 2 years. Considering their attitude, I didn't trust them. I had a similiar experience at the MB dealership when I inquired about the E55. They immediately tried to sell me an E430 they had on the lot and said why wait when you can own this car today.

The big reason I went with another Lexus was the reliability of my SC400 and the treatment of Sewell, the local dealership. This dealership, bent over backwards to make sure I was pleased with my SC. When I was shopping for the next vehicle, they had plenty of praise for the M5 as a car, but kept subtly bringing up what my experience was like dealing with a BMW dealership.

If you are looking for a combination of luxury, power and being treated like gold, you can't go wrong with this car!

Strength:

Style, Interior comfort (seats), quietness, responsive engine, built quality, dealer service

Weakness:

handling (drives on softer side compare to German cars like BMW or Audi)

Definitely recommend it. Although the car does drive on the softer side, it is definitely sportier than Lexus's ES or LS. You can always do something about its handling. For example, I've upgraded the wheels to Lexus's 17-inch wheels (17x8). Yes, they are little nosier and little stiffer but it's worth it. The car does handle a lot better... very close to BMW.

Had the car for about 6 months and no problem so far. After you drive car like GS for a week, you can't go back to anything less.

Side note: Lexus dealerships WILL treat you with respect! I went to 2 different BMW dealerships and they turned me away. I couldn't even get to test drive. Thanks to Lexus, I got to test drive BMWs and Mercedes. I would NEVER go back to BMW dealerships ever again.

Strength:

Quiet, Quiet, Quiet!! Strong stance when pushing the car a little. Good pick up when you have to jump on it. The interior is very comfortable with plenty of room for four. Trunk space was a suprise...I never thought that I would be able to get four sets of golf clubs in there (Bravo!). All-in-all, the overall car is a wonderful treat. Strong in every department without giving up gas mileage.

Weakness:

Not a GS400...no other weaknesses!

I paid $39K for my Lexus. I would recommend this car to anyone and everyone. This is my first Lexus, but I can guarantee that it will not be my last. 1 Year away from purchasing a GS400...can't wait for that day! Maintenance...what maintenance? Other than gas and oil, I've had no other issues. The car might be a little pricey, but it is well worth every single penny. Think of it as an investment. Great for family, friends, and don't forget about work.
