Strength:

This car had a great value. Navigation system is fun to play around with. It is so much better than the Maxima. The I30t is totally different than the Maxima. The engine is so much quieter. Just like the compass on the mirror. Memory seats is a good feature, rear sun shade is a good feature. Due to the $1000 incentive from factory to dealer, I bought the car $600 under invoice and dealer throw in wood kit for free. The fleet manager is great.

Weakness:

The foot brake pedal is too close to my foot. That's the only complaint.

The car is an excellent value. I had think about the I35. Hey, the price of this car right now is too good to pass by. And I also own a Acura TL Type S. I didn't need another car with 260 HP. And I bet the I35 is going to sell for MSRP when it comes out. Overall, excellent value.

THE WIND NOISE THAT SEEPS THROUGH THE WINDOWS AND DOORS.
THE TRANSITION FROM FIRST TO SECOND GEAR THUMPS.

ON A SCALE OF ONE TO TEN I GIVE MY CAR A 6 1/2.
I EXPECTED A LOT MORE THAN I RECIEVED FROM THIS CAR AS FAR AS COMFORT AND LUXERY IS CONCERNED.

Strength:

Loaner cars are provided when you car needs fixing.

The Sound system is very good and I enjoy the comfortable, heated seats on cold days.

It drives excellent at high speeds. It is quiet and quick.

Weakness:

1) You can not read instrument gauges on bright days when you are wearing sunglasses.

2) Interior lighting is weak and plastic wood-grain molding should have been real wood.

3) Transmission often times "jerks" or "thunks" going from 1st to 2nd gear.
The dealer claims this is normal for front wheel drive. I drove a loaner car and it had a similar jerk to it. For a car that gets rave reviews, I find it hard to believe that no one else has complained about the jerky transmission. I have got to believe that there is a defect with the Infinitis I have driven and the Dealer won't live up to their service quality pledge to fix the vehicle.

4) I have had other opertionally problems with the vehicle i.e. dashboard lights went out, AC fan rattled loudly and had to be replaced and engine service light came on after 15,000 miles.

5) On certain road conditions the road noise is horrible. It seems as though car is amplifing the sound. I wonder if it is due to the tires or the car.

6) The Goodyear Eagle RS-A tires wore out after 22,000 miles.

Good looking car with great sound system, but not an exceptional vehicle. I have had many minor service problems that has caused several trips back to the Dealer.

There is only one Infiniti Dealer in Denver so if you have a problem with that dealer you have no recourse should you not like their service. The Dealer has been good about fixing some items but has refused to acknowledge other problems.

Thank goodness the dealer provides loaner cars because I have had to use loaners many times.

Strength:

VERY quiet, awsome Bose stereo, very smooth ride,

Weakness:

Some of the controls will take a while to get used to where they are located. eg...the ""on"" button for the cruise is on the dash hidden by the steering wheel, but the rest of the cruise adjustment buttons are ON the steering wheel.

(1998 Model) - My husband and I bought this car just a month ago, as a ""certified"" Infinti..It has 25,000 miles on it, but it comes with a 4y/60,000mi bumper to bumper warranty, and a 5y/70,000mi powertrain warranty, so we saved about $9,000 off the original sticker and are getting a fantastic warranty along with fantastic service. I would recommend this car to any family member or friend.

Strength:

Acceleration, handling, comfort, storage space, sound system, and design.

Weakness:

Plastic wood and hard to see dashboard are only design flaws. However, my routine maintenance cost is very high to date. The one-year service appointment cost nearly $500, and nothing needed repair!

This is by far the most comfortable, reliable, spacious, and responsive car I’ve ever owned. It is extremely comfortable, and unlike others reviewers, I have not encountered either a jerky transmission or rough rides. The sound system is spectacular, there’s plenty of storage space, the dealership is courteous and efficient, and the design of the car is clean from end to end without cheap chrome or flashy decoration. In fifteen months of driving under often very hot conditions here in Phoenix , I have not found anything wrong with this car mechanically.

Strength:

The car's responsiveness is beguiling. Since the advent of smog control devices and Federal energy standards, it's been diffult to find a car with an automatic transmission that downshifts when you want it to--not when an on-board computer thinks it should. My 2000 I30 downshifts smoothly and quietly at neighborhood-street speeds or on the Interstate at Autobahn speeds.

The car is much roomier than its competition. My wife noticed that first. We'd looked at Audi A6, Lexus ES300, the Acura TL, Mazda Millenia, etc. The Infiniti has much more room. The front of the car is as roomy as many full sized American sedans. The back is large enough that I can sit in it and have plenty of leg room. (I can't sit in the rear of a BMW 5).

The ergonomics suit me perfectly. The two most reached-for dash controls--the radio volume and the climate control are right where I expect them.

I've found nothing in the car's interior design that I could improve on. It is comfortable. The seats are more German in style; that is firm and supportive. That means long trips don't leave you feeling beat-up from too-soft upholstery.

The service is exemplary. I've found the routine service costs quite modest.

Weakness:

The car needs more sound-proofing in the rear deck. Even though the trunk is well lined, the wheel wells protrude into it and tire sound from the rear wheels can be heard. The car is so quiet otherwise that that noise is noticeable. I've located a sound-proofing supplier and I'm going to install and extra layer of material under the rear deck, around the sub-woofer, to see if it muffles the road hum.

I purchased this car because I could sit in it without tilting my head. Although I'm only 6'1, I can't sit in many cars--particularly those with moon-roofs. And the Infiniti dealer was more than willing to supply a car without a moon-roof.

I tried to order a Lexus ES300 without a moon-roof--which yields 2 inches of head-room. No Lexus dealer would accept my offer. I know the economy is healthy, but what kind of company would turn down a $35,000 sale because of a moon roof.

I found to my surprise that buying an Infiniti was much simpler than buying a Lexus. Infinitis come equipped with everything a purchaser would reasonably want sold for one price. Toyota uses the same sales policy for Lexus is does for Toyotas, i.e., many expected features are add-ons that have to be separately negotiated.

After that long intro; the car is just what I expected. It is sound, powerful and responsive and also the most comfortable car I've owned.

Similar Products Used:

I liked the Audi A6, but the engine wasn't as responsive as I needed. Driving on Washington's Beltway is easier with the extra power. The more powerful engines made the price beyond my reach. The Lexus ES300 can easily cost $37,000 because of the add-on nature of its pricing. The Mazda Millenia's interior was simply too small.

Strength:

Engine power, smooth, quiet ride, transmition is shifting proper and quiet, real luxury interior design, good material quality, excelent fit and finish, very good mileage per gallon, excelent sound sistem, lower price than copetitors, LOTS of options in and out, lots of room inside, big trunk.

Weakness:

Nothing major.
The exterior design could use just a little beat more sport lines, but I'm probably wrong, this more a family sedan than a sport one.
The ride is so quiet, you can hear a bit of tire noise(may be because my tires are new?).
I notice a bit of "weakness" when a wheel hits a hole in road, the sound is a little "fragile", but, how I can see, I'm the first one sayng that.

This is a luxury car, with a lot of power, that makes it fun to drive. loade with all you need inside, classic look outside, quiet as a church, super-nice sound sistem.
Much cheaper then others luxury sedans, good MPG, cheap to maintain(so far), good looking car.
Nothing less than I espect, roomy inside, like the car!
Not bad dealership, good name reputation for Infiniti.

Strength:

Engine is VERY quiet yet powerful, the car accelerates with great response (probably because it's much lighter than the new cars of today). Seats are very comfortable from what I'm use to, plenty of leg room, handling is great except for a little bit of body roll at turns (needs better tires), braking is acceptable and plent of trunk space. BOSE stereo is awesome! Autoclimate control is very nice :) I definitely like the appearance of the car, the overall body, color, and everything...well balanced vehicle. Simple.

Weakness:

Cupholders are mediocre for a luxury type of car but I'm fine with it, CD players skips on hard bumps, suspension is a tad stiff but not too stiff (probably because it's a touring model). Body sheet can be easily ding and dented. Paint can be easily chipped, but doesn't all cars have that problem?

I bought this car used from a good friend who hardly ever drove it...it just sits in the garage with a car cover and had never touched snow, but he has 2 other cars anyhow. Anyways, I was shocked that he sold me his car. Only 47000 miles on it and it's a 1996 I30T, still rides smooth, great gear response, no rattles, very sturdy and heavy, feels safe, and everything about it I can't be more happier, especially for a used car.

Similar Products Used:

Honda Accord, Toyota Camry, Ford Taurus, Hyundai Sonata, Chevy Malibu, Chevy Impala....but for a used car like this Infiniti I30T, I like it better than all of them because it was within my budget and I didn't want to spend a whole lot :) Yeah..I'm cheap
