Strength:
Handling and suspension (look at the suspension parts on a lift) Excellent torque curve and auto transmission
Weakness:
The trip computer does not have as extensive a data base as that on my wife's Lexus. I prefer a hand operated brake lever. This is a car which I can rate highly, and I am comparing it to a 78 and 92 Audi (which I owned) and a BMW and Acura TL-S (which I test drove). It has a driving response and road feel which compares to my 78 Audi. It is the first non German car that I feel compares very favorably to the German handling and steering standard. It brings these features at a lower cost and higher relaibility factor. If you are younger consider the handling package if you can accept more bumps but a BMW handling. The standard suspension was best for me. I got 25.8 mpg (on the trip computer) and 25.2 mpg (using gas receipts) on a 2500 mile trip (mostly highway but 400 in-city miles). Strength:
Engine, transmission, features (including a 6-disc in-dash CD changer), interior room, unique body design.
Weakness:
Interior luxury touches, specifically the lack of seemingly luxury details like chrome inside door handles. I bought my silver colored 2003 Infiniti G35 on July 9 after trading in my 2001 BMW 325i. My old BMW 325i had 28,000 miles on it (see review of 3-series BMW on the webpage), and I was glad to get rid of it. The number of services I had on my BMW far exceeded that of any other car I've ever owned. The G35 seems to be an outstanding car for the money. I bought the Premium Package (including the dual climate control, memory seats, and reclining backrests), moonroof, Xenon headlamps, trunkmat, wood trim, and leather interior. As a former car salesman, I was able to negotiate the price down to $32138 plus taxes. Frankly, I'm surprised that Discover Infiniti in Carlsbad, San Diego County, California sold me the car at such a great deal considering its "newness"/popularity around here. I've already been approached twice about the car when I've gone shopping, and many people have peered in the windows after I park the car. It's definitely a car that attracts good attention. The car accelerates well, handles well, and has many of the creature comforts of the BMW including remote control window operation and memory seats. My friends really appreciate the reclining rear seats, and we are impressed by the car's handling on the curvy roads in and around La Jolla, California. Freeway bounce (especially on I-5 South around San Diego) is more pronounced in this car than in my old BMW, but the quietness of the car structure more than makes up for this. Overall the car is a great deal if you know what you want and are willing to trade some of the brand recognitiion (like BMW) for value (as in this Infiniti). A word of caution about aftermarket accessories: I've noticed that dealerships selling Japanese luxury cars tend to push aftermarket accessories more than dealerships who sell German cars. Generally, if the car doesn't come with the equipment you want from the factory, it's not a good idea to add it on at the dealership. For example, solely based on cost considerations, I was offered a spoiler as an add-on feature for $595 installed. But after looking at the price of the factory option (the Aero package), the price is only $550. In addition, getting a factory installed option ensures that the option will work as advertised. Weakness:
Amber guage cluster Amazing car, great value, hard to find many complaints at all about this car, it is fast, great handling, very comfortable and at least $5000 less than the less powerful, and in my opinion, over rated BMW 330. Watch out for Alta Infiniti, their service is less than impressive, particularly when you are shelling out $40,000+, my advice would be to have a look at another dealership. I purchased a G35 about a month ago, and it currently has 4,300 miles. (170 on the car when I picked it up) I don’t drive the car hard, and take very good care of the vehicle. After the first week, I brought the car in to have heated seats installed. This was part of the deal negotiated with the sales person. The heaters were installed, and holes were cut in the bottom of the seats, and cheap rocker switches were installed. I was told that center console switches were going to be put in place with indicator lights. This did not happen. They also left a wiring mess under the seats. About a week later I had a problem with the windshield wipers making a loud screeching noise. I brought the car in and they cleaned the wiper blades, this did not fix the problem. This past Wednesday it was the transmission! It was shifting with a loud BANG. I also noticed loud wining noises and erratic down shifting, slipping etc... Well, I’ve just about had enough! The service manager assured me that everything would be taken care of, but it could take some time due to the availability of parts for a new model. I think at this point I’m going to ask for another car. I will be posting a follow up within a week to let everyone know how this dealership handles the situation. |

Weakness:
I'm always tempted to go very fast. Great car. When I saw it at the 2002 Autoshow I fell in love with it. It has great handling and performance. The reason I chose it was because, I used to drive a 1995 Nissan Maxima. I loved it, but my friend wanted to buy it. So I sold it with 280,000 KM. Now I bought the G35, and I would say I made a good investement. The dealership always treated me well, with my Maxima, now they treat me just as well with my G35. It performs very well, 260 HP is great. How may cars do you see with a V6 that has this many power. It has more power than some cars with V8. Anyways, I already put 7,000 KM and I know I will put alot more. But I'm confident that I will not have any problems at all. If anyone want's a quality product buy this car. I also like the way they styled the car. I find it that it is very different than most cars out. It has a very sporty feeling. However I would not use this car as a family car. Strength:
Highly acclaimed VQ engine is smooth and powerful. Goes fast, and stops fast. Good handling. Exceptional fit and finish. Affordable.
Weakness:
17" wheels too small. Brakes a tad too touchy. Manual gearbox not yet available. Interior materials just average. Combine 260 horsepower, 260 lb. ft. of torque, great handling, superb braking, and unique styling. This gives you a great performance vehicle. Combine tons of safety features, lots and lots of passenger and cargo room, quiet highway cruising, and four doors. This gives you a great family vehicle. Combine the above two cars, with a sticker that starts under $30K with leather, and you've got the Infiniti G35. Okay okay okay, so I sound like a commercial. I test drove a LOT of cars before finally deciding on the G35, and I've not regretted it. With all that this car is, the choice for me was clear. Strength:
Incredible power, smooth, athletic moves, nice interior that is comfortable and with useful space. I have always had a 5-speed in my past performance cars, but I honestly do not miss it in this one.
Weakness:
I'd like the keyless remote integrated into the key 'a la Audi/VW. Would like wood trim to be available without premium package. Interior plastics not up to Lexus class, but they are still fine. A fantastic car that splits the size difference between the BMW 330i and Lexus GS300 nicely, while offering performace superior to either, at a lower price. Mine is a luxury leather edition with the sunroof and trunk mat. Similar Products Used: E36 BMW 3-series |

its solid acceleration and fun factor.
Weakness:
at times it feels a little to big when i want it to be nimble great car for the price. the 330i does give you a better sportier feel. the 330 makes you want to drive it faster. the g35 isnt that far off, it is faster, and considerably cheaper. its a well built car as well. as smooth as an is300, and 1 sec faster. Strength:
Combines space, handling, performance, safety and new styling in one package.
Weakness:
Seat too narrow (power seats) but still comfortable ..... 250 pounds 6'4". Best combination of what most drivers want. Superior performance and handling in a car that is safe and fun to drive long distances. Best car I have ever owned. Similar Products Used: Audi A6, Volvo V70T5 |
