Model Reviewed: LHS w/ Luxury Package

Strength:

-The design is sensational!
-The price is just right.
-No luxury forgotten.
-Powerful and responsive engine.
-Agile and refreshing supension.
-Engineering is beautifully executed.

Weakness:

-There is nothing not to like about this car.

I whole heartedly recommend this Chrylser. You can't beat the price for what you get. For more agile than the Town Car, and just as powerful as the Deville. Amenities are abounding, and for a fraction of the cost of the Town Car and Deville. The dealer experience was wonderful. This car is great for couples getting older, as you will experience heritage dating back to the 50's.

Similar Products Used:

-Cadillac Deville (experienced 2 very problem plagued Deville's).
-Lincoln Town Car (owned 5 consecutively with no problem's what so ever).
-Buick Park Avenue (after several bad experiences with GM products, I have a hard time even thinking about them).

Strength:

Styling. I like the ouside body countors and inside compartment styling.

Weakness:

Mechanics. I had to replace the motor after 3 months chrysler nor the dealer was of any assistance. It took 1 month to repair!!! Now the transmission is in need of a $600.00 repair! The A/C gives out at high temps. Had it in for service several times but still problem persists. Had the dealers mechanic said it is just the way the A/C is on this year LHS.

$16,000 and No I would not recommend Chrysler Products. Chrysler consumer support is non-exsistant. My next car or future cars will not be a chrysler! More likely than not it will be a Buick!

Similar Products Used:

Buick LaSabre for comparision. The LHS was less reliable for both mechanics and internal features. I have owned 2 LaSabers and have had little to no issues that the dealer wasent ready to repair (usually under a manufactures recall) or any that werent due to normal maintenance. I currently own a 89 Lasabre that has over 200,000 miles with origianl Transmission and motor. My Children are driving the car still. Now Thats dependability. No engine or transmission replacements.

Strength:

THE CHRYSLER LHS 2000 IS THE MOST DISTINCTIVE AND BEST-BRED WORLD-CLASS LUXURY SEDAN. THE LHS DELIVERS A SMOOTH RIDE QUALITY,FILTERING OUT UNWANTED VIBRATION WITHOUT ISOLATING THE DRIVER FROM THE ROAD.

Weakness:

THERE ARE NO WEAKNESSES, PURE LUXURY.

CHRYSLER`S LHS REPRESENTS A BIG IMPROVEMENT OVER ITS PREDECESSOR. AN ELEGANT INTERIOR, SOLID ACCELERATION PERFORMANCE AND EXECELLENT HANDLING COMPLEMENT EYE-CATCHING STYLING. WITH ITS ROOMY BACK SEATS AND GENEROUS LEGROOM, IT CAN HAUL FOUR PEOPLE IN COMFORTABLE, LUXURIOUS SURROUNDINGS. SUPREMELY SMOOTH AND STABLE AT HIGHWAY SPEEDS, I COULD SPEND MANY MILES IN ONE OF THESE, RIDING BEHIND THAT HANDSOME EGG-CRATE GRILLE.PRICE PAID IS 30,875 YES, I WOULD RECOMMEND IT.

Strength:

I like the smooth ride the agile handling the comfort due tothe spacious roomy interior and the heated leather seats and the infinity sound system is second to none. The traction control as well as thwe antilock brakes is also a plus. Chrysler is truely engineered to be Great with this fine luxury car.

Weakness:

Nothing

The price for the money is truely a bargain. The foreign cars and G.M. do not have the style or engineering that Chrysler has put into their cars.

No comparison. I haven't found any other car to compare to Chrysler.

Strength:

Leg room, comfort, power, appearance, nimble handling.

Weakness:

I just had the transmission rebuilt for over $2000. That's the only thing I haven't been able to do myself thus far. If I had to pay a mechanic to do these jobs, much less a Chrysler Dealership, I would have filed for bankrupcy! Here's a list of the other problems I've had:
-AC compressor replaced, O-rings replaced. Do-it-yourselfers price $400 plus an afternoon's worth of work.
-Front wheel bearing replaced. Dealership repair cost: $1200. should have been under $400, but Chrysler mechanics destroyed the surrounding suspension parts while attempting the fix and ended up charging me for their error!!
-Radiator leaks. Have yet to fix. My cost so far: $400
-Keyless entry system: repaired twice so far byt the dealership at the cost of $300 total, and still doesnt work.
-Passenger side window switch was bad when I bought it (used). Not realizing it until AFTER the purchase was complete, the dealership would not fix it at their cost. I had to pay for it. So I took it to a different dealership. That dealership mis-diagnosed the problem as the window motor, a more expensive repair that would have never fixed the problem. I had to tell them that the window works when controlled by the driver's switches. They then correctly replaced the switch. Kinda scary when a saturday morning mechanic(myself) out-diagnoses their own "expert" technicians. Maybe their service would get better if I went to work for them. Nah... I dont like ripping people off.
-The trunk water leaked profusely- rusted out my jack and spare tire/rim. I fixed it easily by removing a narrow body panel uner the rear windshield and applying RTV silicon to a mis-welded body seam where the water was weeping in. Who knows how much this would have cost at a dealership to fix? It cost me about $0.05.
-"out-of-windshield-washer-fluid" light remains on despite a full fluid level
-Constant and miscellaneous rattles, hardware problems, stereo speaker interference/"crackle", faulty weatherstip installation, and the emission pipe hangar causes an annoying rattle.
Keep in mind that if you're not handy with automobiles, these costs would at least double, possibly triple at a dealership service shop.

This has been the WORST car I have ever owned. Asthetically, it's an awesome automobile. Performance is above average. Engineering and reliability are horrible. It would have been better for me to spend more money on a proven, more reliable car from a reputable manufacturer that supports their product.

Similar Products Used:

I've never owned a luxury car before, but the cars I have owned prior to this one (Olds, Ford, Honda) have all been more reliable. Also, those manufacturers, in my experience, have demonstrated better customer service relations.

FIRST OFF, I'M SICK OF PEOPLE CALLING CHRYSLER JUNK. ALL THE PROBLEMS PEOPLE ARE HAVING ARE PERFECTLY NORMAL. THEY HAPPEN WITH ALL MAKES AND MODELS. THEY'ER CALLED LEMONS!!!!!!!!!! PEOPLE AUTOMATICALLY COMPLAIN ABOUT A CHRYSLER PROBLEM BECAUSE THE MEDIA HAD DAMAGED THE COMPANY NAME. CHRYSLER BUILDS THE HIGHEST QUALITY CAR IN AMERICA, AND CAN BE COMPARED HEAD TO HEAD WITH ALL THE CRAPPY JAPANESE CARS ANY DAY.

NOW FOR MY REVIEW

This car has the best engine and drivetrain in its class. It really does beat some V8's. It is the most powerful normally aspirated V6 in the world. It even makes 13 more horsepower(midgrade fuel) than the 3.8 supercharged in the Grand Prix GTP, and makes 3 more horsepower than GTP on regular fuel. The GTP makes a mere 240HP.

This car has the best ride, the best compromise between luxurious smoothness and road feel. It handles like a European car that was born on the Autobahn. The handling is perfect, no tire squeal on 40 mph turns!!!

This car is the best American car ever!!!!!

What weaknesses?

If you want a sleek, fast, elegant car with room enough for five and a great sound system, then the Chrysler LHS (99 and above) is the car for you. I am definitely pleased with the purchase of this car. The standard leather interior is plush and the dash decor is well laid out and quite eye catching. The trunk is enormous and provides plenty of room for a nice long family trip. The infinity sound system is ablsolutely great to listen to. I get about 23 MPG running on regular gas.

Power. Handling. Elegant yet Sporty Looks. Gas MileageMany more to list...
My Dealership has been excellant to me. Thank you Roy Bird Sn. of Bath County Chrysler!!!

Weakness:

Very Few...considering it's a used luxury vehicle.
Replacement Tires are costly. Trim on Driver side door fell off (Super Glue. WalMart $3.97). Small vibration in front passenger door only happens when bass hits hard.

When my parents decided to trade in our Luxury van for a luxary car I was alittle questionable. I thought all luxury cars looked alike. Immediately I feel in love with Dad's car (1997 White LHS). 3 months later mom traded in her Dodge Shadow Convertible for her car (1997 Black LHS). After some time with trouble-free use of the cars (excluding windshield wiper blades) I turned 16 and was bought a 1995 Concorde. After one week I was unhappy with the car and we traded it on on my car (1995 Grey LHS). I love the Infinity System. I love the Black Leather Interior. I love my car...

Nice ride . Gas milage good (26) for a big car.

Weakness:

More luxury features would be nice but not neccesary.

Seems to be a good car. I've only had it for 2 years and put 15,000 miles on it but I've only had two small problems with it that were covered by the original warranty. Rides nice, it is a little noisy at road speeds but not real bad. Has enough power for me but then I don't punch it too much, only when I really need to.If you treat a mechine right it will last a lot longer. I would recommend this car to my friends. I bought the extended warranty for it though because I heard the water pumps go early and cost about $800 to replace, but I haven't had any major problems yet.
