Strength:
Value, beauty, character, performance, handling, comfort, style, reliability. The 4.9 liter engine of the '92-'93 has plenty of torque and power(200hp), without the complexity and repair expense of the Northstar.
Weakness:
Rather small gas tank for this class vehicle. No cupholders. Typical limited back seat room. Wind noise from door mirrors at speed. Radiator cooling capacity marginal in hot weather; keep coolant changed & radiator clean. A beautiful American coupe with timeless character and power to spare. Cadillac had something to prove when they redesigned the Eldorado in '92, and the gorgeous car that resulted was worth the effort. Because coupes are out of fashion these days thanks to the SUV/pickup craze, used Eldorados are both plentiful and affordable. I have owned many fine cars over the years, including BMW 3, 5 & 6 Series, Lincoln Mk VII, Infiniti Q45, etc. None have delivered the consistent comfort, class and reliability combined with the roadworthy handling and power of the Eldorado. The leather seats are the most comfortable I've ever sat in, wonderful for extended time behind the wheel, and are just one part of why the Eldo is a true grand touring coupe. I recently updated the look of my '92 with some '02 7-spoke wheels, and it looks fantastic. In my opinion, the '92-'02 Eldo embodies the best attributes of American design with few of the weaknesses. And I love the similiarity between this series of Eldorado and Cadillac's 1000 hp "Sixteen" concept car. For my coupe money, this series Eldo is hard to beat Similar Products Used: BMW 6 Series coupe (3), Lincoln Mk VII, Infinit Q45. |

the looks and the style! I never get tired of looking at this car. to ride in this car at highway speeds gives one the impression you are gliding on glass.
Weakness:
um headliner....and the rubber trim around the outside looks rather rough. I do believe this car with the northstar engine saved our lives yesterday. My daughter's boyfriend was driving and doing about 70 in the outside lane on interstate 70 in ohio when a semi started coming into our lane. The driver locked eyes with him but continued to move into our lane anyway. We ended up on the shoulder with the two left tires actually on the grass. My main point about this car is that we had power even at 70 miles an hour to burn rubber and move out of the way. Had we been driving a less powerful car, it is quite possible we would have been side swiped by the truck driver. |

Strength:
Great Handling, smooth powerful ride, excellent fuel mileage, excellent sound system, great looks.
Weakness:
Like any 2 door hardtop I've owned, it has wind noise (not excessive, but annoying), at expressway speeds. Looked awhile for a luxury car, and settled on the Eldorado. Have had it 2 1/2 years, 48000 miles when I bought it, 58000 now. It's very smooth, powerful, and I get an honest to god 28 MPG on the highway, 23 around town. No problems except A/C, and it was not right when I bought the car. It looks and even smells brand new. I love the styling, and it handles well. I don't get to drive it as much as I would like; but when I do, its a pleasure. I'm the second owner, but its obvious the car has been well cared for. |

Strength:
See above.
Weakness:
Even at only 40K miles, this car has CONSTANT electrical failures. Each new failure seems to compliment the next, and even the non-vital error messages cannot be erased by the dealer. At 55,000 miles, the airbag sensor is bad ($600), and now the PASS-KEY II security system just went bad, which cuts off all the electrical goodies like the stereo, heater, power seats, etc. It also limits the speed to 90 mph; oh well, yes, but it's a matter of principle. Point is, this is still a new car, just like my 1988 Eldorado that experienced a very similar unending chain of unfounded mechanical problems. Maintenance or abuse are not factors with either of my Cadillacs--just terrible GM engineering. I'm buying a Lincoln as soon as I can dump this GM junkpile on someone else. There is no doubt that this car screams and hangs on to any corner. It looks better than the Lincoln MK-VIIIs, but it will annoy you to death with error codes. |

Exterior Paint, Interior: Headliner, door panels, switches, an most of the Interior trim, warps or fails from the heat of the sun. Mechanical: Fuel pump, Alternator, Air Conditioning components. This performance Vehicle is not for the light of heart, or shallow of pocket individual. I am very pleased over all, because I have always wanted this body style. |

Strength:
It runs good and the paint still looks new. The car rides so smooth going down the highway. The NorthStar gets up a goes.
Weakness:
I had to replace the starter, battery, radiator, fuel pump, temperature gauge and tires. When I hand wash my car the neightor think I bought a new car. It looks like a new car inside and out. It runs good. I have pull up to a stop sign and beat these sports car and they just shake there heads. I bought the car three years ago with 61,000 miles and now I have 83,000 miles. THE LOOKS WITH THE WHITE DIAMOND PAIT IS WONDERFUL. THE POWER IS VERY IMPRESSIVE. THE COMFORT FLOWS NICELY.
Weakness:
I ONLY GET 20 MPG WITH THE 300 HP ENGINE. I AM UPSET THAT I NEED TO REPLACE THE STRUTTS WITH ONLY 53,000 MILES ON THE CAR. I AM VERY LEARY ABOUT THE MECHANICS OF THIS CAR. SMOKE WAS COMMING FROM THE STEERING WHEEL, I DO NOT NOTICE ANY PROBLEMS WITH IT THOUGH. I HAD BEEN WANTING AN ELDORADO FOR YEARS. I FINALLY FOUND ONE WITH 40,000 MILES. IT NOW HAS 53,000 MILES. THE LOOKS OF THIS CAR MAKE YOU WANT TO WASH IT EVERY DAY JUST SO YOU CAN ADMIRE IT. I PULL UP TO A STOP LIGHT AND THE YOUNGER PEOPLE IN SPORTS CARS CAN'T BELIVE I CAN BEAT THEM OFF THE LINE.WOW, WHAT POWER! WHEN I FIRST PURCHASED THIS CAR THE RIDE WAS GREAT, JUST FLOATED ALONG, NOW IT IS VERY ROUGH, I FEEL EVERY BUMP. I FEEL I WILL NEED TO INVEST IN STRUTTS. IF THAT IS THE ONLY REPAIR I DO UNTIL 100,000 MILES I WILL BE EXTREAMLY PLEASED. Similar Products Used: THIS IS THE NICEST CAR I HAVE EVER OWNED |

Strong motor, style, strong motor, electric toys, strong motor.
Weakness:
With all that power, the suspension should be firmer. This car has been great. Mine has the 4.9 with 145,000 on the odometer and runs as strong as ever. I've heard a lot of bad things about this engine, but I have not had any major problems myself. Though, I would not recommend buying one of this vintage unless you've got some cash to burn or invest, however you look at it. Replacement parts will cost you a fortune- this I know through research, not experience. Mash the throttle and you will be firmly planted in your seat. Warning: This car does not play well with others, hot-rodders take note and get a good look... Similar Products Used: 1985 Fleetwood, 1989 Deville |
