Strength:
CVT trasmission for smoothness, 3 litre engine power, posh interior, storage bins, room in the back seat for two adults, large trunk big enough to fit my hockey gear
Weakness:
Stock 16" rims and 215/55-R16 tires could be better. Slight hesitation on throttle tip in. I purchased the 3.0 CVT for its smoothness. The new CVT transmission is incredible - you floor the accelerator and the revs quickly jump to 6k rpm and stay there until you reach the speed you want with no perceptible gear changes. The result is a very smooth driving car, well sprung for comfortable high speed highway cruising. The 3 litre V6 has plenty of power (0-60 in 7.1 sec.) I am really enjoying all of the creature comforts, the cabin is a welcome place to spend time. Similar Products Used: BMW 528, Acura 3.5RL |

They are hard to see when you are so dissatisfied....Probably the ride
Weakness:
The Audi Corporation...Buck passing Have an A6 3.0 liter and am "very dissatisfied" with the response. You have to push on the gas pedal almost half way down before it responds, then it jumps. Everybody that has test drove this car asks what it wrong with acceleration, etc etc. The only people that says it is normal is AUDI, go figure. The salesman took the car home to see if he could see anything wrong and let his wife drive it and even she said it hesistates and is sluggish. Audi says that there is no linkage, but use a drive wire, blah blah, blah. They say they want me happy, but I've had it in "four" times in 3 weeks and nothing but excuses. Until Audi can make the A6 respond to how you push on the excelerator then they shouldn't sell this car. It's emabarrasing to let anyone drive it, because there is always a comment...Wondering if anyone else has noticed this..."They" say I'm the only one who has ever complained about the unresponsive acceleration and sluggishness. Handlingl, comfort, style (the wide flared out fenders), wide 255/40 sport tires, Bose Premium Sound 200 Watt, 12 Way Power seats are a great feature too.
Weakness:
You know what, There are NON!! This is the best value on four wheels for a V8 Monster! No BMW 540i or E430 can even COMPARE because they are 10k more expensive which is unjustified and they also do NOT have as must standard feats. as the 4.2 I have just got the 2002 4.2 and all i can say is that the ride is SICK!!! CRAZY handling provided by the sport package is an excellend choice for anyone who is gettting the 4.2 I have read most reviews here and i see that most people dont get the sport package. I think that if you are getting a 4.2, GET the sport package. You will never regret it. I think the most POSitive thing about this package is that the seat curve around your body to hold your body tighter. This is great on tight turns. Also, i think that the 255/40 Continental Ultra Sport tires add icing to the cake because whats a sport car without sport tires? In other words, if you are getting a 4.2, $1,750 should not make or break your choice in getting the sport package because a car of this class already assumes that you make a significant sum of money. Weakness:
Overall mechanical quality is lacking. No vehicle should need to have breaks, calipers, rotors, etc. replaced within 20,000 miles. Can you say LEMON!!! When I first purchased the vehicle I loved it. The comfort, handling, style, etc. However, that soon changed. In the course of owning the vehicle for 2 years I had to replace the breaks, rotos, calipers, fuel gauge, speedomoter, tachometer, and cam seals just to name a few. In addition I have had a continuous transmission "thump" when decelerating or downshifting from 2nd to 1st gear which has gone unrecognized by the dealer and Audi America. The sad part is that I am not alone. Many others have reported this mechanical issue and neither the dealerships or Audi American is willing/able to recognize the mechanical deficit. BUYER BEWARE is all I can say. If you do buy, sell it before the warranty is up!! The first 3 years/50,000 are great as long as you don't mind driving a loaner car for 1/2 the time. |

STOCK FACTORY FRONT BARKES ARE "CRAP"! AUDI NEEDS TO OFFER AN UPGRADE. This is my fifth Audi, and by far the best. I leased for 3 years, and plan to buy the car at the end of the lease, and drive for another 3+ years. Similar Products Used: M-B E-300 |

Great in the snow. Comfortable ride. Beautiful interior.
Weakness:
Bose sound system is not worth the money. Car is underpowered. Brakes are weak. In the past year I have put over $3,000 into this car: slipping tranny (still not fixed - just $200 worth of new fluid), cooling fan ($500), replaced "rusty" outside mirror, rotors all-around (second set in less than 70K miles), window would not go up, cup holder broke (twice), door trim falling off (second time), climate control sensors failed - big bucks, etc. 4th and last Audi I will ever own. Other Audi''s have had reliability problems but none like this car. If you are smart you will sell it before the warranty expires. Audi America has not been willing to help in any way and will not even provide me with the name of my zone rep. For the money I am extremely disappointed in the quality of the car and even more disappointed that the dealership and Audi of America do not seem at all interested in retaining a long time customer and previous Audi advocate. The ride is super smooth and the seats are comfortable, I find the power to ber adequate for a wagon. The workmanship is a marval.
Weakness:
The bose stereo could be better but its fine for most music I''ve had this car for a little over a year and have enjoyed all aspects of the A6. The Quattro is fantastic in the snow and rain. It''s much better than my Jeep Grand Cherokee was. |

Audi''s and dealership''s disinterest after purchase. This is the worst car I have owned in 30 years. It has been in for the same repair for 22 days in one year. The engine floods and fails to start. The dealer has tried to fix the car on 6 times, but claims that this is how new complex cars operate. Similar Products Used: SAAB, BMW |

Audi A6 4.2
A spectacular car. Without question, the finest vehicle I have ever owned. Superb fit and finish inside and out. Smooth impressive power from the 300 horsepower V8. Precise and responsive handling courtesy of quattro® all-wheel drive system and a terrific suspension. Styling (admittedly subjective) that I love, and others frequently compliment. And the car''s overall "feel" is very tight yet comfortable. |
