Strength:
Beautiful appearance, very stylish and comfortable interior, lots of trunk space (esp. w/ fold down seats). Amazing handling (get the quattro!). Very nice amount of power (210 hp for 2.8 A4) for a car of this size. Amazing BOSE soundsystem. Tiptronic trasmission is ALOT of fun and quite useful. Free maintentce (inc EVERYTHING except gas and tires) for 3 years is great.
Weakness:
Gas mileage w/ the quattro model is on the low side. Leg room in back is a bit cramped if driver or passanger seats are moved too far back. I absolutely love the 2.8 Quattro A4 that I leased over a month ago. I did alot of reasearch and it came down to BMW 328, the Acura TL and the A4. The A4 won hands down in all categories. Its handling is as precise as a porsche and with the full time quattro 4 wheel drive it corners like a racecar. The car is on the small side, but the trunk is VERY roomy, and the interior is comfortable. The car also has a great look to it. Definitely go for the 1999.5 model (the gar was given a number of upgrades mid-year) or the 2000 model. Also Audi has great lease deals once in a while. I leased a fully loaded 2.8 Quattro A4 (heated seats, leather, sunroof, BOSE system, ski bag, plus much more) for $399 a month for 39 months 0$ down! Strength:
The car has a great yet subtle feel to the road, but always feels solid. Solid fit and finish and classic interior/exterior styling.
Weakness:
Steering wheel adjustments could be better/lower. Nothing else weak I love this car, I have to drive a company car once in a while and I hate doing it. This car is definitely a drivers car not just a basic transporation tool. It is good for a small family or if you have small friends to sit in the backseat. Handling is solid and the suspension is soft enough for a pleasent ride. Sweet spot is reached above 80 MPH and includes great passing power at that speed. At around 40-60 feels a little boring. Open roads are a must!. Can't beat what you get for the price. Next is an S4 Similar Products Used: BMW 3 Series |

Almost everything. The car is great. I have no complaints at all. Most of the things I mention in weaknesses are not faults, just things that could be a little more ergonomic on the next A4 go around.
Weakness:
Power window switches should be more forward than they are. Seats should have a little more cushioning. Cruise control should be on the steering wheel. There should be memory seats. Best car I've ever owned, and I've owned quite a few. All around great car in every category, such as fun to drive, lots of standard equipment, safe, AWD, beautiful inside and out, and seems to be made as solid as a safe. |

- Sport package wheels only 16" and not very sporty. This is my first Audi and I am very happy with my A4. It is an uncommon choice in a sea of BMW and Mercedes Benz here in Southern CA. Similar Products Used: Test drove BMW 323i, Acura TL, Jetta GLX, Mercedes Benz 230 Kompressor |

Exra ordinary exterior design. Shape and style is outstanding. Very srong build, can be felt by the door.
Weakness:
Small rear seat, good for small family. Power lock is hard Very reasonably priced German made car. Ovarall engineering and quality is excelent. No cheap material used anywhere in the car. A very good buy for a small family especially in Similar Products Used: Test drove Saab900, Volvo 850T, BMW 328, liked A4 the most |

This car has a real personality, very fun to drive. Built like an expensive luxury German car.
Weakness:
Pretty small car, standard suspension leaves a big gap in the wheel well (looks like a car with "floods"). I leased this car, but have decided to purchase the car instead of turning it back to the dealer. Whenever I go out of town and have to rent a car (wheather it's a Ford Taurus, GM Lumina, Grand Prix or Regal), I can't wait to get home and get back into my A4. |

A4 Avant
Strength:
Great looking, great handling, great riding and a whole lot of fun. Safe and secure in all kinds of weather.
Weakness:
Relatively small back seat, a little short on power A great alternative to a small/midsize SUV, without any of the disadvantages. Small, quick, and will out handle any SUV, with just as much cargo space. After owning a couple SUVs and then the Audi Avant, I have to wonder why someone would buy one. Most people never take them off road (I only did a couple times in 8 years). They're gas hogs, slow, handle poorly and everyone has one. Also, compared to the BMW 323/325, it is more comfortable, looks just as good, is a much better value, handles comparably, and whole lot less of em'! Magic 130 BHP Diesel engine. Blisteringly quick & 55MPG!. Very quite inside. No rattles. A qulity product
Weakness:
BOSE sound system in the new A4 is rubbish AND not as described in the sales literature. It is not even as good as the standard system in the old A4. The 'so called' 10 speaker system is in fact 9 speaker - the special BOSE bass speaker & amplifier does not exist, it the the standard rear untit with no special amp. Also, I am sure that the amp is not 210 watts as described. Nice looking car. Much more roomy than my 2000 BMW 328. Fabulous handling due to the sports package. Let down by faults from new (3 miles!). Similar Products Used: BMW 328 (2000 model), had it for a year & nothing ever went wrong - even once |

A4 1.8T
Strength:
Build quality and ride. This is a well built German automobile with handsome styling. The 4 link suspension is superb, and the quattro all-wheel drive system grips amazingly well.
Weakness:
Clunky manual gearbox, as well as an unrefined 4 cylinder engine when pushed. Way too much vibration in the passenger compartment for a car of this price and caliber. Well built solid German car that gives other German manufacturers a run for their money in terms of build quality alone. The major weaknesses, however, for me are the gearbox and unrefined engine. These are things that I should have been able to discern during my several test drives, but they really didn't reveal themselves fully until I had driven the car for several weeks after purchase. In the end, I'm trading the car on an automatic with a 6 cylinder - probably an Acura TL, as the 6 cylinder automatic version of the A4 is $5,000 more and just doesn't seem to be worth that extra amount of money. If you're young and want a car that is very modifiable (to the point of boosting horsepower by nearly 22% just by adding a chip), then this is the car for you. If you want a refined German automobile with a smooth engine and transmission, look to BMW or Mercedes. Similar Products Used: BMW 325 - Better value, if you like the 1.8T engine in the A4 |
