Audi A4 (2010 and older) Luxury

Audi A4 (2010 and older) Luxury

DESCRIPTION

The Audi A4 has a planted, sportier stance and holds the road with a new sense of confidence and enthusiasm. Its new underpinnings are shared with the S5 and A5 coupes. Thanks to the liberal use of ultra-high-strength steel, the body weighs 10 percent less than last year's, yet is more rigid.

The 2.0 T is equipped with a new 2.0-liter, I4, 211-horsepower, turbo engine that achieves 21-mpg in the city and 27-mpg on the highway for a combined fuel economy of 23-mpg. A 6-speed manual transmission with overdrive is standard. The 3.2 quattro with Tiptronic is equipped with a new 3.2-liter, V6, 265-horsepower engine that achieves 17-mpg in the city and 26-mpg on the highway for a combined fuel economy of 20-mpg. A 6-speed automatic transmission with overdrive is standard.

Model Reviewed: A4 1.8T

Strength:

Exterior and Interior Styling. CVT Transmission Crash Test Ratings and overall safety of car. Brand new body type built of galvanized steel which is much more resistant to corrosion Large Trunk and increased size of vehicle Not everyone in LA drives this..unlike the BMW 3''s or Lexus IS''s that every rich teenager drives. I''ve only seen 2 other 2002 A4''s since the car debuted at dealerships in September.

Weakness:

Non Xenon Headlights aren''t that bright Costly to maintain but then again, if you don''t have enough cash to service ..don''t buy this car.

Very impressive ride. The car is gorgeous and in my opinion is better looking than the A6 because it is much sportier and has a very aggressive stance. I bought the 1.8T with the sports package (17inch wheels) which is absolutely necessary to make this car look great. Typically the craftsmanship in the interior is up to Audi''s impeccable standards. The CVT transmission is great and really makes the ride alot smoother than the old automatic transmission. Overall space in the cabin and trunk space has also been improved greatly...4 adults can sit confortably in the car. Oh yeah..performance is awesome. I drove up to San Francisco from Los Angeles and tested the car out at speeds of 100-110mph and the car was solid and smooth...definate sign of quality. Audi did a great job with this ride.

Strength:

Incredibly quiet car. Quattro. Heated seats are WONDERFUL. Fuel economy is 30+ mpg on the highway. Performance chip in the Turbo has significant gains.

Weakness:

Wish I had that performance chip Wish I had sport suspension Headlights on 1998 models aren''t great.

Purchased from the cutest salesperson ever. Not that it''s relevant though. This car is great - the first ''practical'' car I''ve purchased. What was important in selecting this car was the Quattro AWD system for climbing mountains. It is incomparable in snow and ice and even rain and on sand. The turbo doesn''t wheez too much in higher altitudes. No sport suspension so it wallows a bit but it has never let me down - the tires stay planted on the pavement and it takes a lot to get any noise from them. Between this and the Subaru Legacy, feels like a much higher quality vehicle (although you pay for it). If Honda made an AWD Accord I''d buy that but this will do. I don''t pay SUV prices at the pump and handles better too.

Strength:

Stylish design, solid handling, exquisite interior (especially in the 2002s), ample trunk space, comfy front seats.

Weakness:

For a $45,000 German car, they really should''ve included power seats and the option of leather. The stereo was nothing spectacular. Engine was similarly modest. And the back seats are terrible cramped. Very much like a Jetta''s back seats.

A superb ride and definitely an attention getter! The interior is perfectly designed - rather BMWish, actually. It''s wonderful atmosphere - elegant, functional and original. The handling is fine and I''ve never had a problem with the slippery Canadian winters - the Quattro really keeps a grip on the road. Engine''s a little small for my tastes, but is certainly respectable within its class. 170 hp for the 1.8T. Not sure what the 2.8''s packing. I should say one thing though. I was really close to getting the Acura TL, which is comparatively priced. I didnt, for various reasons, and had to go for the A4 instead. The TL''s a better deal as it comes totally loaded with standard options, such as leather interior, a kick ass stereo (with a 12" bass speaker - standard!) and a fantastic engine (250 hp!). Between the A4 and the TL, there is no comparison. Dollar for dollar, the TL wins hands down.

Handling, Fit & Finish, Warranty

Weakness:

Small back seat, cup holder

Have had the car 7 months now and I''m still impressed with the car. Best handling car I''ve ever driven. The Avant has the added storage space for a smaller car and looks are still very sporty. I like the 4yr 50,000 warranty and the added 20 hp. For the money you can''t find a better awd car.

Model Reviewed: Audi A2 2.8L

Strength:

Very sporty, styling of exterior, air bags, power sunroof, wheels

Weakness:

Maintenance costs, layout of interior, instrument panel/caution lights never go out!

Overall it is a beautiful car! Underneath lies a nightmare. I purchased the vehicle with 52,000 miles. What a dumb mistake. The Bose Speaker blew out, the "check engine light" & "oil light" never goes out, tiptronic cute but a total waste, brakes replaced and were outrageous in cost, valve seals leaking, insurance rates are unreal, cup holders are in the most ridiculous location-underneath the armrest. I am unable to sell the car because Audi has a poor reputation due to its expensive parts and amount of maintenance that must be conducted just to keep it operational. Oh well. Good luck and look for another option.

After owing a couple of BMW''s (which are horrible in the snow) i decided to try out an A4. I love the way the A4 handles and drives, it truly is a fun car. I also like the body shape and attention to detail. I prefer BMW interiors, audi still needs work here. Also this car is too heavy for the 2.8 Auto and the tiptronic is nothing more than a gimic in my opinion. Gas mileage is average at best. Be warned: like many higher preformance german cars they can require alot of maintenance which isnt cheap. case in point; in less than one month my A4 with 40K miles needed $1000 in repair work, water pump, seals and a few other things. Luckily i bought a extended service agreement. I think this is a must if you buy used. just make sure the company is reliable when you have a claim.

Strength:

Handling, styling, interior noise, and fairly good Bose stereo system.

Weakness:

A little underpowered at low rpm''s

I bought this about 6 months ago to replace by 328 that I had on lease. As much as i like the 328, I love the A4 that much more. The Quatto makes me feel like I have more control over the car which I love. I do wish it had a little bit more low end torque, but that can easily be overcome. I think this is a beautiful car with a very comfortable and well laid out interior. The Bose system, while not the best stereo system in the world, does provide a very clean sound with enough bass for me, and is worth the extra 600 (I think that is what it ran). The A4 might be a little too small if you plan on carrying 4 passengers all the time, but for the occassional passenger it is not a big deal. Having seen this car, I would take this in a heartbeat over a BMW.
