Acura RL3.5
Strength:
All luxury equipment you can think of is standard; smooth and responsive ride; comfort; Price of an entry level luxury car with features and performance of a flagship sedan.
Weakness:
Lack of dual zone climate control; Lack of V8(even though there is plenty of power from V6);Lack of prestige associated with Lexus or BMW names. Acura is a quite luxurious car, which is in a class by itself. Its price puts this car in competition with Lexus ES300, GS300, AudiA6 2.8, BMW 3- series. I have previosly owned a '98 ES300, which is an excellent luxury car -- however, Acura is a superior car in any respect( luxury, features, ride quality and smooth responsiveness). A GS300 is a small car with rough ride, noisy engine, poor quality stereo without option to upgrade( Levinson's system exists only on Lexus' website and impossible to get from a dealer), but with sporty look and feel. However, for 42K it's a rip off. Acura is much smoother, more comfortable, bigger, has ALL the toys INCLUDED ! Audi A6 2.8 is underpowered, feels smaller inside, is not nearly as luxurious as an RL. Even though Audi has Quattro and German quality, Acura feels so much more luxurious, powerfull and equipped, the choice is obvious-- at least to me. Strength:
Less price than ls400, e320
Weakness:
Less control, reliability , steering feel ,client service than a lexus or benz.very very bad automatic window regulators, you can expect a break down of its automatic windows at any time.Heavy steering feel, bad break, but you can expect a honda civic reliabilty on this , not a penny worth more than that I am driving this car for more than 5 years, I am not satisfied with its gear changing with jerk feature(gear changing is not smooth), dealer changed my bise stero system once. 4 window regulator gone bad, dealer changed one under warrenty, 3 others i changed for more than one grant, definitely you can expect a break down in its automatic window regulators with in 3 years of use.I never heard in my life 3 automatic window regulators go bad with in 3 months for this kind of high costly car.Breaks are not poerful enogh to stop in emergency situations.Acura has to do more home work on this.Steering is heavy, not smooth as a MB e320 or lexus ls400.Vehicle stability is another problem, but better than any American cars. Strength:
big car
Weakness:
Bad acura customer service,Specially bad window regulators. I had my front left window broken(Regulator) just after the 50000 warrenty expires, i payed 450 dollar for that an acura dealer to fix it, just after two months my back two window regulators are broken, i felt very bad on this with the acura, they had covered my parts at this time, not the labour another couple of hundred dollars i had to spent on this.. When i told the sad story to acura client service manager Allen, he refused to give me the labour to cover... Similar Products Used: Lexus |

Legend L
Strength:
Very comfortable and spacious. Very feature-packed (power everything, ABS, yada, yada, yada). Smooth and eager shifting automatic. Controls had good, well-built feel, even after eight years.
Weakness:
Heavy steering for a car in this class, but also good steering feel. Engine lacked torque, but was almost fast anyway. Brake pedal was far from progressive...starting and stopping while parking was very jerky. Shifter had weird design. Pretty fast, beautiful design, lots of interior space, good stereo. Similar Products Used: If you're looking at a Legend, get the GS sedan or the LS coupe. The other models are pretty boring, even with the 200HP V6. It's a good car, but it feels so generic...an ES300 or I30 would be an equally good buy. IMHO, the Vigor of the same year is a better buy...it looks the same and gets better mileage. |

Strength:
Huge on the luxury. Nice lines, great paint, leather, sensational stereo. This car has it all. Great brakes, very nice ride. Can't think of any negatives. I even like the V6 unlike some, although it would be nice if it was VTEC'd.
Weakness:
None Absolutely the best value for the money. What other car in this class of luxury could be bought for under $33K? Similar Products Used: 1998 Honda Accord LX. This was a big step up. |

Honda Legend (Acura 3.5RL)
Strength:
Understated Body Styling - I think this is a big plus, Solid build quality inside and out - this car feels like it will last for a long time, huge boot (trunk), Sporty engine sound when accelerating for a luxury car, good fuel economy. Lexus looks, features and quality for less $$. Pound for pound a Lexus LS 400 eats a Legend, but so it should because in NZ they are twice the price. For such a big car the Legend is extremely manouverable, its one of those cars that the more you drive it, the more you love it.
Weakness:
depreciation, but this is also a strength because if they didnt depreciate so much in yrs 1 - 3 I couldnt afford to own one. The Legend Family from day one is a Credit to Honda. The Legends of the late 80's were fantastic cars, the quality has amazing...so the later models are holding up one hell of a legacy started a few short years ago. That aside the '96 'series 3' Legend has an understated poise that is all class. Anyone who knows what they are talking about would not slag this car, its a case of you either like it or you dont. Similar Products Used: Lexus ES300, Legend has more "Goodies", Legend looks more imposing. |

Legend
Strength:
Bullet proof looks that even today turns heads. The 3.5 RL is not as good looking, lacks exterior personality.
Weakness:
Stock tires do not do justice to this beautiful car, too small. If you do purchase a Legend, get aftermarket rims and tires with bigger size. The only thing I can say is that I have had this car for over a year now, and the only significant amount of money that I have spent on the car was basically aftermarket products. In terms of repairs or replacement, well only the battery!!! Similar Products Used: You really can't compare any other to it. Simply put, this car is in a class by itself. You just have to drive one to understand what it offers. |

Strength:
Smooth, comfortable ride. Enough pick-up for my city driving. Real used car luxury for a bargain price.
Weakness:
I had to replace the Michelin tires after 40K miles. Steering column telescoping has broken but will be fixed under warrantee. I disagree with other peoples opinion about the styling of the car being bland or not a head turner. I think the car is very elegant and I was attracted to it because of it's similarity in styling to the comparible Lexus and Mercedez models at a much better price. I am 6'-4" tall and fit in the car very comfortably and will have a very hard time going back to an Accord or Altima in the future. Similar Products Used: 1991 Honda Accord, 2000 Nissan Altima |

Weakness:
I have my vehicle on lease, not a head-turner. Maybe a coincidence, but one power window, and door release hatch failed after 4 years, still under warranty, so local Acura dealership fixed for free. Great service. I'm a high school senior, and I'm lucky enough to have this car on lease. I haven't driven any other luxury cars so I have nothing to compare my experience to. While my friends are driving Celicas, Integras, and Civics, I'm more than content with this vehicle. The stereo system is bumpin, extremely smooth ride, and the seats are very comfortable; I love driving. Similar Products Used: None |

Acura Legend
Strength:
I bought this car almost 2 months ago. It was used, of course and it still runs like a new car. Living in Hawaii with the salt air and all, the car doesn't even have any rust on it. All of the body and its parts are original. It looks great and it runs great!
Weakness:
Nothing I would recommend it because it's easy to drive, fun to drive and is a very dependable car. Similar Products Used: I had a Toyota Celica, Eagle Talon, and a few Pontiacs, but this car is older and still runs better and has not had any problems. |
