Volvo C70 Convertibles

Volvo C70 Convertibles

DESCRIPTION

The Volvo C70 is a four-seater convertible with brilliant styling and elegant lines, and the retractable hardtop is an engineering masterpiece.

The C70 is powered by a 227-hp turbocharged 2.5-liter inline-five engine matched with a six-speed manual transmission. A five-speed automatic transmission with Geartronic is optional.

Safety features include electronic stability and traction control and anti-lock brakes with brake force distribution. In addition to the required front airbags, there are side airbags in front, and air curtains which activate upwards from the doors, even with the windows rolled down. The Rollover Protection System, a pop-up rollbar, is activated by a "pyrotechnic charge", which will smash the rollbars through the glass if the roof is up.

Strength:

looks, the way it drives, comfort.

Weakness:

a little turbo lag, but can solve the problem with an exhaust system (ipd or genuine volvo sport exhaust) and will still sound nice.

I looked at all 2 door coupes and this one was the one to stand out. Its sporty, yet it still has plenty of luxury features. Its a fun car to drive.

Powerful, comfortable, excellent looks, perfect sound system, great in snow, great in rain, fun and SEXY....i can't get enough

Weakness:

Not one......two friends have recked my car twice and it still drives perfect no problems at all. Wow!

This car is amazing. 52000 miles and running perfectly after two winters and two accidents. Awsome dealer service. Great people, reliable and Perfect for my time and conveniece. I have been to alot of car dealers and owned alot of nice cars. My budget was reserved for a car under $65000. So I could have almost anything. This car is perfect. I hope volvo makes a four door version or an all wheel drive in 2004 the last production date. Safe, beautiful, fun, driven it 8 times up and down the east coast. I love it....never bored. BMW is over rated for what you pay...volvo should toot its horn more and market the c70...then again they don't have to.I have had few problems...just light bulbs...and tires

Beats the pants off M3...never look at a BMW again....only thing I would consider over this car would be a 911 C4 or 2000 v70R....its peace of mind

Strength:

Great standard features. Michelin Pilots on 17" rims, leather interior, 236 hp turbo. Fit and finish is great for the price.

Weakness:

Front wheel drive on a sport coupe will never cut it. Tiny gremlins that pop up from time to time (e.g., passenger seat stopped moving, check engine light comes on if gas cap not properly replaced)

I love this car for the money. Yes, it suffers from some severe turbo lag, but it's not something that a little downshift and blip don't cure (makes it more fun to drive). When turbo does come on around 4,200 rpm the car takes off, you just have to keep it in the powerband (which is pretty narrow). Interior is nicer than comparable BMWs costing 10K more and the feel of the road is much sharper than the CLK 430 (which although more powerful, only comes in automatic). The fit and finish on my car is top notch and solid and I was surprised to see some complaints in that department. Stereo upgrade is the only option I got (it's a lease) and it is definitely worth the money. 3 CD changer in the dash is key!! Can't beat the C70 for the money.

Strength:

Wonderful highway car. Stereo sound is exhilirating. Front wheel drive is a plus for a sports car (neither BMW nor Mercedes coupes are). Turbo performance may lag but its overall performance is respectable

Weakness:

Turbo lag can be frustrating in crunch situations. Stereo CD player operation is cumbersome (specifically the CD changer). Ride is rough in the city, you'll feel every bump. Some interior features are less than sturdy. Seat operation to allow rear passengers is frustratingly slow. Be prepared to replace many light bulbs (price of using daytime running lights)!

I would recommend this car to anyone who is interested in buying a well priced European luxury sport coupe. Would suggest test driving comparable cars before choosing this one. However, this car is probably the best deal with respect to performance/dollars. I would highly recommend it. One final note, the computer system monitoring engine and overall vehicle state can be frustrating ('check engine' light) -- still a wonderful car. I am a former BMW 325 and Mercedes 300CE driver and this coupe is just as good or better than those products. I say drive it -- I bet you'll buy it!

Similar Products Used:

I traded my '93 Mercedes 300CE for the Volvo. I have to admit that the Mercedes product is/was sturdier and more solid - inside and out.
However, Volvo engine performance was a breath of fresh air (in comparison).

Strength:

Appearance

Weakness:

The convertible has been the worst car I have owned since my Chevy Citation!! 1)The top leaks and didn't work - the factory guys had to fix it after I threatened them with the Lemon Law. 2)The doors rattled, again finally fixed by the factory guys when they did the top after 7 or 8 trieds by the dealership.3)The interior rattles and squeaks - acceptable fit, finish, and construction per the factory reps! All-in-all a great disappointment for what I considered to be an upline car of superior quality and construction! I'd never own another Volvo - look at the German or Japanese manufacturers if you want quality and CUSTOMER SERVICE!!

Would absolutely recommend against it at all costs!

Not as well constructed as the Germans - CLK or BMW 300 series!

Strength:

Interior comfort, styling, not too many other C70s around (unlike BMW's, which it seems everybody owns one).

Weakness:

Some turbo lag, bumpy ride due to the sporty 17" wheels.

Definitely different and unique. Not too many other C70's on the road. Very comfortable, powerful, good mixture of luxury and performance. Not as smooth as my Lexus SC400, though, which is rear wheel drive.

Similar Products Used:

I love my Lexus SC400. Hard to compare as they are very different. They are both very nice cars with different strengths.
