Review 2 of 18

Year / Model Reviewed:
1999 Ferrari F355 F1 Berlinetta

Summary:
Don't buy as every-day car, you will regret, because maintenance is expensive, no comfort on public roads. But BUY it as second or third card, because it is FERRARI

Strengths:
F1 feeling, high rev engine, perfect for track-days, body shape

Weaknesses:
F1 style gearbox is slow, not comfortable

Similar Products Used:
Honda Integra Type-R (similar feelings for less money :)

Review 3 of 18

Year / Model Reviewed:
1999 F1 Spyder

Summary:
Argue it as much as you'd like, the F355 is the most beautiful car ever made, period. The exhaust note is absoultely astounding. Mesmerising more like it (it's best heard from behind the car, as inside, it's not as nice, but that's like saying winning a $95 million lottery isn't as nice as winning a $100 million one).
The F1 tranny works awesome. I was skeptical at first (A Ferrari w/o a stick?!) but boy you gotta try it! Works like a charm, allows prodigious wheelspin, has an automatic shift-up mode, ultra-fast, comfortable.
Stability at high speed is beyond comprehension. Wow. Suspension is super-sporty and car is very low (watch out), but the way it crests over imperfections in the asphalt blew me away, like it was never there! And those headlights! Who needs Xenon when they are this sharp and effective?!
I'm 6'3, fit fine! Convertibility is a huge plus. Easy to convert too.
Air-condition works surprsingly well (dunno about USA models though).
Acceleration: Not brutal, like a 993 Twin Turbo, or Viper, but you'd better be watching your speed well before 4th gear! Amazing. You don't need tons of low-end torque when you have 13 secs flat for the 1/4 mile and 8800RPM to hit with 6 gears.
Did I mention the engine note? Spell-binding. You'd be so hypnotized by it you wouldn't know how fast you're picking up speed anyway (err, faster than you'd ever want).
Incredible. Fantastic. No words can do justice. You must listen to an F355 under hard acceleration.
That shape! Please don't get black! It would hide the shape. Silver, Red, or Yellow preferable. Trust me!
Best supercar ever made, period. If you can afford it get it!!! Bravo Ferrari.

Strengths:
Engine power/sound, looks, handling, stability, comfort (for a PURE sports car), cheapest Ferrari (!)
F1 transmission
Ferrari Red color (nobody's red is as nice)

Weaknesses:
Very soon to be discontinued (collectors take note: Price hike on used models!)
Price (~$140k) compared to some cheaper exotics that are sublime (NSX, Porsche 911 Turbo, etc.)

Review 4 of 18

Price Paid:  $180.00

Summary:
What an incredible machine! Overtaking traffic is a pleasure not a chore. The 355 has made me a permanent supporter of Ferrari. Next purchase (hopefully)...the 360 Modena!

Strengths:
blistering acceleration coupled with looks that could kill makes the ferrari F355 experience one of the most unique.

Weaknesses:
F1 shifters need realigning often. Besides a few minor maintenance issues this car has no weaknesses.

Similar Products Used:
911 turbo.......well maybe not.

Review 5 of 18

Price Paid:  $135000.00

Year / Model Reviewed:
1999 F355 Spider

Summary:
No matter how much chrome and plastic people stick on their hondas and eclipses and get 7 second quarter miles, it will never be a Ferrari. I used to want a Mustang when I couldnt afford one, then decided I dont want anything to do with the plastic college toys now that I can afford a real sports car. Still drive my '95 Camry to work, but theres nothing like taking a Ferrari out for a spin on the weekends at the local university and watch all the spoiled college brats drooling themselves in their parents BMWs and Camaros.

So what a $8000 honda/eclipse/ with a $100 15 minute bolt on engine mod can smoke it in quarter mile. Doesnt bother me knowing that I could have 20 of their hondas with the cost of my F355. Im sure they realize they CANNOT do the same. Besides theres more too it than just 1/4 times, its something you have to experience to understand. And that engine at 6+ grand, sounds so wonderful, cannot be replicated.

Strengths:
The ULTIMATE sports car. All plastic import crap bow down!

Weaknesses:
Maintenence kinda sucks, but its the last thing you think about when your grinning at some spoiled brat pulling up next to you in some glass coated butt glossed BMW 318 cheapo model with cheap marker colored gold garbage.
