Needs more rebound control Paid $240 for front and rears for '91 Lexus LS400. Good alternative to factory units and a necessity if you're lowering your vehicle. Preserved much of the Lexus' ride while firming up the handling. Very inexpensive compared to the OEM units from the dealer. They are stronger then the stock ones and absorbs the bumps good.
Weakness:
Not adjustable I paid 300 for all four and i would recommend them because for the price, they are very good. The ride is pretty rough with my coil-overs. These struts hold up good and better then stock and won't break like stock when you lower your car. Similar Products Used: None |

High quality, increased damper then stock, better handeling
Weakness:
Instructions were vague, not adujustable, may be to stiff for some applications. I paid $70 a strut for my 89 Toyota MR2 which I also added Eibach Pro Springs to. Handling was improved significantly however ride quality decreased. This was also due to the lowering springs. I wish I used the Illumina models because they are adjustable. Overall, great value. 1999 Maxima SE/1995 Mustang GT
Strength:
Still retains a pretty gentle ride, due to being a stiffer shock. Added incredible stability to my Mustang in all handling situations, without harshness. Maximas, come stock with Tokico's! Great warrenty for original purchaser, excellent manufacturer's support, HP's made specifically to be allowed for lowering.
Weakness:
If you want hard performance, there are better shocks out there. Paid $420 on Maxima for all 4, and $535 for Mustang, nicely priced comparibly, and cost less than the manufacturers replacement cost. I went with the High Performance Tokico's on my Maxima, even though the car came with Tokico's, due to the High Perfomance models being valved differently, and designed to be lowered. On my Maxima, gave the car a very subtle ride, and almost felt like stock, which had me worried at first that I did not need them, but noticed at high speed on freeways, and tight twisties, the car felt more stable than before, but this may also be due to the Eibach springs. When Mustang was originaly lowered, I did not change the shocks. After 4 months, all my original shocks were leaking. I went with Specific, racing springs on Stang, that gave the car a terrible ride, when you were not hauling but. Was recommended Tokico's due to Bob Bondurant's racing school, using them on all his Mustang's. I could not believe the difference. When the car was loaded with 3 of my friends, the car handled and rode better than when I had the stock shocks. Unbelievable control. Believe me, it will make an incredible difference in your handling, when asked. Similar Products Used: Koni, KYB, Monroe, Bilstien. Is a nicer riding shock than all the listed, but in ultimate performance falls behind, Koni, and Bilstien, even though these two brands are very harsh shocks. |

tendency to blow out under autocross conditions (at least on 3rd gen accords). ugly powder-blue housing.
