Strength:
Decent grip on both wet and dry pavement.
Weakness:
Very loud "howling" noise after several thousand miles.
By know means are these cheap tires. Although they are not the most expensive either. The fact is, for the money, they suck! I would not recommend them to anyone. There are far better tires for the performance and the price. Don't be fooled with mock write ups, these tires suck big time! |

looks nice, but looks are not everything
Weakness:
apparently the entire tire My husband bought these tires for me back in November and we had them put on in December. So for a total of 4 months the tire was nice road well, smooth and looked great until today....3/12/09... I was on my way to work and the left rear tire side wall came completely apart from the rest of the tire.I was so pissed that I could have gotten in an accident. My husband said he thought he might have seen a bubble in the wheel the night before but it was dark so he couldn't tell (he probably should have check). My husband asked me if I hit anything, which I didn't. I am going to write a letter to anyone who will listen and try to get my money back. |

quite tire, handles good
Weakness:
bubbles on side I purchased 4 sumitomo tires size 15...for summer use only. They have about 25.000.00 miles at most. Within the last 4 weeks 3 of them have bubbled and flatten during interstate driving. I am an excellent driver. I hit nothing. I will say that sears gave me two new tires...at no cost...tomorrow I bring in the other...but I prefer to have quality and not have flats on interstates. Won't buy again |

Dry handling, styling, price point
Weakness:
Poor wet handling, road noise These are the first set of tires i have purchased for this vehicle. compared to other tires in my 225 40 18 size these were at a desrible price. They have amazing dry condition handling and have a very aggresive look to them, awesome feel and stabibilty at high speeds. Only beef i have with these tires is wet handling, and road noise. Under hard cornering and acceleration in the rain vehicle wants to slip, and going between 15-35 miles an hour vehicle sounds like it has super swampers on it, a little loud, but a very nice tire indeed. Great ride, low road noise, great handling (don't regularly corner hard). Good value, $424 for the set with lifetime balancing.
Weakness:
None noted thus far. Bought the new car for our teenage girls. Safety and style. Ride with OEM Firestone Firehawk GTA 205-50 16" tires gradually got rougher and louder. At 14,700 mile, rotated the rears to the front (rotate every 3000-5000 miles). Sounded like a failred wheel bearing from the grind. Steering wheel shaked horribly. Could not drive over 50 mph Firestone said it was Ford design problem (not their problem!). Ford has the car in eval today and tomorrow. Four different tire shops in the St. Louis area all said it was the GTA. After reading GTA reviews on this website, I'm convinced Firestone should go out of business. All the reasons for buying this car.....safety being #1......were negated by the fact that the GTAs are junk and endangered the lives of my family. My daughter had a flat last week, luckily on the I-55 exit ramp. They found a hole but no nail!!! Bought a set of Sumitomo HTRZ II P205-50 16" tires upon recommendation of a friend and this web site so I could again hear the radio and not shake my teeth loose. WOW, WHAT A DIFFERENCE. So far, 500 miles into the new set, I am ecstatic! Open you eyes Firestone. I will let you know how Ford handles the issues. We bought 4 cars from them over 9 months. They won't get my business again unless I get fully reimbursed for the new, wonderful tires. Dave Sinclair Ford has been a wonderful dealer..........thus fa Similar Products Used: Firestone Firehawk GTA (pieces of junk!) |

Grip on dry roads. cornering feel. Give me a good sense of the road Have a very good feel Price
Weakness:
More severe bump steer then the Michelins that I had but other than that they have none I spent some time looking at different tires for this car. I am running 205/45R17. I previously ran a pair of Michelin Pilot Sports. I was happy with them but for the $265 dollars to replace them I decided to look around. I looked a the reviews at the tire rack and decided to by these. I am very impressed. I would say the they have comparable to the Michelins in performace, and with the price difference I would buy them over the Michelins for sure. Strength:
Excellent tires except cornering High Speed stability (W speed rate)and Excellent steering feel (no hands on steering, straight line doing 190km/h- the road is not so flat, still stable n feel relaxed) Comfortable and smooth ride (even at high speed) Braking dry and wet performance hot and cold weather day OR night still performed excellent cheap
Weakness:
The sidewall flex during hard cornering. About 120km/h with no braking about 60 degree right corner downhill. I could feel understeer, not with the Bridgestone SO-3 that I used before. SO-3 can do 140 km/h at the same corner with no braking. not easy to find. Sizes limited. These tyres are excellent. I wanted to try toyo proxes T1-S, but could not find here, so I try HTRZ II. If u r looking for comfort, quite and high speed stability tyre, do not hesitate.Try HTRZ II, u won't be dissapointed except for one thing, hard cornering. The sidewall flex. U have to use higher pressure, mine 34 psi front and 29 psi rear. Similar Products Used: Ranking 1. Bridgestone RE010 - original tyre best overall. Stable, wear, cornering and quite. 2. This tire could take a beating, and I mean bad, after smoking the tires countlessly they still had the handling and major grip that i was looking for.
Weakness:
When wore close to the wear line the tires were very unstable in wet or snowy weather I would say that these tires are for the price some of the best all around prformance ties you can buy, for a couple of reasons they can take a beating, they have great traction at all speeds, and are inexspensive.
