Traction, noise, treadwear, price.

Tires exhibited minor shaking after rotation. Not enough to make me reconsider purchasing another pair.

Decided to try out a winter tire after sliding around on the yokohamas for one winter. Decided on cooper because of price and previous experience with cooper winter tires on a different vehicle. Just like I expected, the vehicle exhibited far greater traction than with the all season yokos. An added bonus was that these tires were actually quieter than the yokohama avid s/t.

Traction on dry, hard packed snow was like driving on asphalt. Tires were better in snow than on ice, but what tire isn't? Breaking and acceleration traction was exceptional, but turning traction was slightly less extraordinary. This could be due to the vehicle being a heavy, stub nosed minivan.

During one instance, was able to drive through [not over, mind you] a 4 foot high snow bank that the plow conveniently left at the end of the driveway. Vehicle was used as a first-response emergency vehicle, and never lost control with the weathermaster s/t 2, even while speeds were higher than conditions permitted. The tires were so good, that I picked up two tow chains and [after they realized I wasn't joking] pulled several people out of ditches/snowbanks in the winter.

The Astro van was notorious for wearing out front tires of any manufacturer, but I was pleased to discover that, with rotations every 3,000 miles, the tires wore very well. After two winters, they are showing more than 40% usable tread. Of noting is that cooper weathermaster s/t 2 tires have full-tread-depth siping. This means that the tire performs well throughout its service life; not just for the first few thousand miles.

From the snow and driving wind of Monarch pass, Colorado [11,312 feet] to the slush and muck of salty New York roads, to the muddy trails of Pennsylvania, these tires never once left me wanting. If you want a low-cost, high traction tire, I don't think you can find one better than the cooper weathermaster s/t 2.

Nothing except for mabey they will wear out sooner but that's what your gonna get with a tire like this

For $60 each, this is a great winter tire. I just recently put them without studs on my car and I haven't slid at all. There is tons of grip on these. If you want a cheap but grippy tire, these are the tires to get. I'm going to buy these again if I ever get another vehicle

Like all soft tread compound snow tires they wear fast - but mine usually go at least 5 seasons with plenty of tread. Studs and blocky tread are noisy on dry pavement, but thats the tradeoff you make for great traction and control on snow and ice.

This is my 4th set of Cooper Weathermasters on various vehicles. Cooper makes a very good snow tire with all the right components - blocky tread, lots of siping, tread compound that stays soft when cold, and studs where legal. Check out their newest SUV winter tire - The Cooper Discoverer Mud and Snow - it''s even better! These tires are very popular in the Northwest, and are a great value - much less expensive than other national brands and equal or better performance.
