Goodyear Fortera Silent Armor Tires

Goodyear Fortera Silent Armor Tires

DESCRIPTION

Designed with SUV and crossover vehicles in mind, this new premium product combines rugged toughness with the quiet comfort of a passenger tire.

  • Armor Zone: Two high-tensile steel belts and a layer made with DuPontâ„¢ KEVLAR®, that is, pound for pound, five times stronger than steel, helps to provide strength for rugged toughness.
  • Rugged Rim Guard protects expensive wheels against accidental curb damage.
  • Durawallâ„¢ Rubber Compound provides strength and helps to resist punctures to the sidewall while resisting scuffing and abrasion.
  • Comfort Zone: A super-absorbent layer between tread and belts provides, on average, 20% more cushion than average SUV/Light Truck tires, for a smooth, quiet, comfortable ride that feels more like a passenger car.

Just bought my first set of Goodyear Silent armor tires. Had them 2 weeks of normal driving the sidewalk blew out of one tire while I was driving about 60 mph on a 60 mile trip 5 miles from my destination. Goodyear refused to stand behind their "rugged" Kevlar reinforced tire & wanted me to buy a replacement! They better hope someone doesn't get hurt as a result & and get a big fat lawsuit!

    Expensive,

Just purchased my second set of Goodyear Fortera Silent Armour for my 2005 VW Touareg. The original tires for the vehicle showed extreme wear at 14,000 miles so all four were replaced with the Goodyear SA tires.
I now have 60,000 miles on the vehicle and the tires were getting close to the wear bars. So with a total of 46,000 miles on the tires, all were replaced.
These tires ride very well, are much quieter then the OEM's and have great traction. They are not cheap, but IMO worth the money.

These are excellent overall performing tires. I have no complaints about performance or treadwear. Junk, hardly, some people should try a front-end alignment and spedd balance, it works wonders for all tires.

    Punctures easily.

These tires are junk. In one year and about 20,000 miles, they are shot. They are real good at picking up nails, screws and anything else laying in the road. I have had 6 flats in a year and had to replace two of the tires. Silent ARMOR, what armor? I have Goodyear Wranglers before that worked great. The salesman talked me into these. I wish he hadn't.

    Not worth the money.
