Goodyear Eagle RS-A Tires

Goodyear Eagle RS-A Tires

DESCRIPTION

Goodyear designed the Eagle RS-A to excel in all conditions, and part of the success is the unique asymmetrical tread design. It delivers traction in the dry, wet and snow with consistent effectiveness. And premium sidewall styling means the RS-A looks as good as it performs.

Strength:

Traction under all conditions. Long tread life.

Weakness:

Lasted so long, that hate to buy new tires for a car that probably will last for only a fraction of the life of the new tires

I have used these tires since I bought my car. I had nothing but fantastic handling under all conditions, including wet roads.

I have rotated them ALWAYS <7,000 miles. I check the tire pressure weekly and inflate as needed.

I replaced 2 at 82,000 miles, when I hit steel debris on the roadway.

I am about to replace the last 2 original tires, at 95,000 miles.

It is difficult to understand why others have had such bad experiences with the tires.

Strength:

They grip the road well and handling has been excellent in both dry and wet conditions. Have not used in snow, so I don't know how the traction would be under those conditions.

Weakness:

The tires have started to vibrate a little at 55,000 miles.

I have over 58,000 miles on my set of Goodyear Eagle RS-A tires which were then OEM tires on my 2004 Nissan Maxima. I rotate my tires every 7,500 miles and I still have at least 5,000 miles remaining life. Have not had the hydroplaning issues that others have reported and handling has been great

Car handles well on dry roads.

Weakness:

They want to float on wet roads

These tires are garbage. Although I did get more miles than most people did, 37K, they're still garbage. You may as well have pontoons on your car on wet roads. I've never experienced Hydro-planing until owning these tires.

Who wants to pay $600 every two years for new tires?

Have had my vehicle just over 18 months, and have 25,500 miles on it. My Eagle RSA's are completly worn out. Dealership will not honor warranty. Wondering if Goodyear is going to laugh me out of the showroom. I have had two road hazards with nails. I just can't believe that tires wear out with these low miles. I don't drive hard.

Someone has to do somthing about these tires! This is B.S.! I feel a need to write to my local paper! HELP!!!!!!!!!

Noise and poor wear.

At 7,500 miles excessive road noise on the Goodyear rs-A tires. At under 11,000 miles due to poor tread wear and noise dealer offered a replacement set (4) tires. Dealer said this is a common problem on the CTS. They reccomend tire rotation every 3,000 miles. Seems excessive. Hard breaking is extremely loud. Some front end vibration. I'm not sure if this is a GM problen or Goodyear problem.

I'm sure that the Japanese companies are happy that the domestic manufacturerers use these tires. I have never owned a tire this poor.

Weakness:

Did you read anything?

I have never hated a set of tires like these. they are terrible on wet roads and I would not dare to take the car out on snow covered road with these Fred Flinstone tires. The tires have flat spots and go bump bump bump down clear smooth dry roads.

I wish somebody would slash my tires so I would have an excuse to replace them

The car is fun to drive, love the performance, but with no help on the tires situation i am going elsewhere. Waiting for a 2006 Toyota Avalon to be delivered.

Weakness:

Loud, rough ride and defective

Goodyear eagle rs-A tires splitting at all four tires on inside wall. Nissan dealership sent me to the Goodyear dealer who was out of them because they have had so many cars in replacing these tires due to this problem. They measured tread and said they would put another set on the car for 685 dollars. This car had 25800 miles on it. I refuse to pay for a defective piece of equipment. This is on my wifes car and she does not drive it hard. Back and forth to work in town driving.
I cannot believe a letter has not been sent out from either Nissan or Goodyear instructing all customers with these tires have them brought in and checked out.
This is just plain bad business. I guess they are rolling the dice and hope they do not come up with the same problem Ford and Firestone had with the wilderness tires and all of the negative press they received.
I wonder if i should send my letter in to Bill O'reily and see if he can make heads or tails of it.

Way too much noise

These tires were OE on my Max. From the begining noticed a lot of road noise on dry pavement which has only gotten worse over time. Have had a front end shimmy checked 4 or 5 times by the dealer with varying remedies recommended. They've replaced brake rotors (front and rear), done 2 wheel balances and alignments, rotated tires beyond what the service manual recommends and on and on. Nothing has resolved the shimmy issue. Now they tell me it's all the fault of the tires. Given the handling on wet or otherwise slick roads, the overabundance of road noise etc I'm not surprised. I've driven less than 30k miles on these tires and can't wait to get them off the car (once out of winter storage). The dealer told me the tires have all cracked on the inner side walls (which I verified by removing the tires and having a look myself). They also told me they've never seen this before and don't have an explanation. I've not called Goodyear and most likley won't. These tires have been pretty poor from the moment I got the car. Should have followed my instincts early on and replaced them as soon as there was no explanation to the shimmy problem. Marsh63, I know exactly what you're talking about. Nissan should stop supporting these tires. I'm sure with minimal effort they could find another all season high performance tires on the market that they could select as OE on their cars. They should do so immediately.

Very bad on wet roads.

The Goodyear Eagle RS tires that came standard on our 2004 Maxima SE have cupped on the inside of all 4 tires after only 12000 to 15000 miles. Dealer claims alignment is right on the money and tire company says it a mechanical problem. All maintenance services were done at the dealer and tires rotated every 7500 miles. Caught in the middle. Anyone else having these problems?
