NICE TREAD DESIGN, LOOKS GOOD.

Weakness:

NOT SURE YET

I JUST PUT A NEW SET ON MY HONDA, THEY LOOKED PRETTY GOOD AND THEY WERE THE ONLY ONE I LIKED THAT CAME IN P215/60R14. WILL WE SEE HOW THINGS GO.
THEY ARE NICE AND FAT ON MY LITTLE RICE ROCKET AND THEY WILL BE OK. PROBABLY WILL PUT WINTER TIRES ON WHEN THE SNOW FLIES AFTER HEARING ALL THE HORROR STORIES ABOUT HOW THEY ARE IN THE RAIN AND SNOW.

ok till it rains

Weakness:

wet traction worst I can imagine for any tire

Recently I was driving my Volvo 850 Turbo equipped with Goodyear Eagle HP U tires in rain going perfectly straight on an interstate at about 65 mph when the car lost traction and did a 360 degree spin ending up on the far side of the median. It had been feeling squirrely butI couldn't believe this could happen going perfectly straight, not changing lanes or making any steering changes. Then a few days ago I had to drive the car in the rain on the interstate again and it was so unstable that I was forced to drive 20 mph slower than all other traffic and still could fell the tires intermittently losing traction. The tires were all inflated to manufacturer recommendation and have at least 2/3 tread depth left.

Strength:

Dry handling is excellent. H rated. Balanced extremely well at first. Look great, very business like. Enjoy whipping car through tight turns without any hint of grip loss. Wife dislikes being plastered against door.

Weakness:

Very noisy. Noise diminishes at speed. Especially noisy on roads with fine water grooves.

Recently the noise level increased and it seemed isolated to one tire. Then I noticed that tire being out of round. The noise increased to a soft flapping sound at low speed. Now the noise is very irritating. Also, the tires take a set sitting in cold weather, so that starting out, they seem rough. The Dunlops were worse in this respect. I would like a quieter tire.

Dunlops. Very similar qualities, except Dunlops were quieter. Dunlops took a set from standing overnight worse than Goodyears.

Strength:

Good handling/turning ability, High speed rating, rather inexpensive, friendly dealerships

Weakness:

Poor traction, Poor treadlife

These were my third pair of tires I put on my car. They seemed fairly nice for the price and fit nicely with my new rims. I used these for a little under 2 years and was extremely dissappointed with treadwear. They were really bad. And I don't think it is my fault, just 'cause I am a younger driver. My next set, my current ones being RS-A's, I've had for 6 months now, with hardly a show of wear. They cost twice as much and I think the HP's are a better value, but the treadwear IS MUCH better with the RS-A's.

Next up was the constant slipping in every condition. You'd think that from such an aggressive design, as the 'V' shaped tread suggests, you'd get suppreme traction and cornering. I'll agree with cornering ability, but traction was a major problem. They slipped in all conditions. And with 160HP moving a 3500lb car, I don't think it is too much power for the tires to take. I mean my car's about as fast as a minivan!

Overall, for the price I found the tires quite nice, both looking and performing. Although my RS-A's grip a whole lot better and have better treadlife, I blame that on the fact they cost twice as much. So my scores are based mostly on price and value. Although I've heard good things about the Michelin XGT V4's. They cost a little more, but are a whole lot nicer tire (than the HP's). I think I'll give them a chance next time I'm shopping for new tires. Sorry Goodyear, but your friendly service can't make up for the lack of value of your tires. They're either great and cost a ton, or cheaper and just 'okay'.

*Note: Not once did I have a flat or a blowout. Even after driving aggressively with not much tread left.

Bridgestone (model unknown) - lasted a while under a lot of aggressive driving. Goodyear Eagle RS-A's - much better grip and treadwear, but cost an absolute ton from an authorized Goodyear Dealer

Strength:

These tires handled in turns pretty good.

Weakness:

I've never seen tires wear this fast, it is unbelievable. Driving in wet conditions, especially rain, was not all that great.

I have had my car for about 1 year. After a visit to the dealership to get the tires rotated and balanced, they said they would not make it through inspection. Automatically everyone assumed that I couldn't drive, but how would trips to work on the interstate do such a thing. My rear tires are fine, however, the front tires are BALD. I feel $800.00(approx.) for a set of tires is crazy if they're not going to last a year.

Strength:

These tires did handle very well in dry conditions.

Weakness:

Extremely loud, very poor on wet surfaces and snow.

Even though I probably had another 15,000 miles left on these tires, today I had them replaced because I am simply fed up with them. I understand high performance tires should be a little louder, but these are unbelieveable. GoodYear can do better than this for the $....

Strength:

Traction, stability, handling, better gas mileage

Weakness:

The fact that my car came stock with POS Firestone Firehawk GTA tires that didn't hold up for 15,000 miles

People may have gotten them for cheaper. That doesn't bother me. Goodyear is the ONLY tire company that hasn't had a recall. Avoid ALL POS Junk Firestone crap. The Japanese may be able to design a good car, but they don't know JACK $#!T about tires!

Strength:

Excellent wet traction and grip at highway speeds. Good stability on cornering especially for a larger sport sedan.

Weakness:

road noise is not an issue for a performance radial.

A good product for the price. H rated performance radials depending on size can cost upwards of $180 per tire. Top quality brand and reliable performance makes this tire an excellent choice.

HAve these tires on my wifes 90 Eclipse. They do okay, but for the amount of noise they put out, you'd think they'd grip better. Can't corner too fast or you'll end up carreening sideways on onramps.

$90 per tire. I'd definately reccommend these tires, they're good under all conditions. Great long lasting tires for almost anyone except dragsters. Decent price for long lasting tires.
