The General Ameritrac tires are the without a doubt the worst tires I've ever had on a vehicle. Sadly, these tires came as standard equipment on my new Chevrolet Silverado in 08. I've owned 3 other pick ups ( a Dodge Ram, Ford Ranger and Nissan Titan) and several cars so I've hone through some tires of all makes and styles. These General tires did not even last 2 years. I never take the truck off road and live in an area where he roads are maintained well. The tires began going bald prior to 30K miles and, more alarming than that, all of the tires began losing chunks of tread. It happened on the outer edges, inside portion and basically everywhere. It was like the rubber compound was too soft or something. I'll add too that these tires were filled with nitrogen and this supposedly was supposed to aid in tire wear life. The bottom line for me is that I'll never purchase a set of General tires and can't recommend them either. I'm still shocked that I had to buy a new set just 30K into the lie of my truck. The guy at the tire center thought the tires had at least 50K of life on them when he looked at them and I hadn't yet told him it was on 30K! Anyway, I'm not going to hype them too much, but I ended up getting a great deal on 4 Firestone Destination LT tires and it is night and day. MUCH quieter and definitely better in the rain even when the Generals were new. |

Strength:
Long wear, grip, apearance. wet traction.
Weakness:
None so far. Excellent in dry and very good in wet. Best on off tire I owed. Only Pirelli Scopion was better in rain. Don't have to use 4wd unless in snow travel. Similar Products Used: NA |
