Acceleration I have been using Ultra Z's for the past 5 years. I love how predictable the tire is when cornering. It will always let out a deep howl, letting me know the tire is about at its limits. I look at this as a safety feature many HP tires do not have. Braking performances is supurb, along with cornering. Acceleration could be better. Treadwear is about 5,000 miles less than the Furura GTX tires. I average 18,000-25,000 per a set this is about normal for this style of tire. Sure I can get tires that last 80,000 miles, but why? Slides in the rain, fear of a no-name brand tire. You get what you pay for,a cheap tire.I needed a cheap tire fast and found them at pep-boys.I never pushed the tires to the extream,I didn't want a blow out in a tight curve going fast.I've should have known the off-brand tire would give me bad performance.I've had to balanced these tires every three months and it still didn't help. These tires are bad in the rain. Save you money and get some name brand tires, there made by Cooper tire. Once again, save for a name brand tire. |

inexspensive Z rated tire
Weakness:
side wall gives away some conering stiffness it kind of depends what you want. i put 255-50-16's on the fronts and backs (stock was 245-50-16) and there is a difference. they hold the road just fine but the response is noticably different. i prefer the tightness of the 245 with a stiff sidewall. when i turn the wheel i want to feel it right now. the futura doesnt do that. the 255 has a slightly higher profile so the reaction is a tiny bit slower. this is a small difference so if you don't care than save yourself the cash and buy them. if you want conering response right now then stay with the 245 and a more exspensive tire (bfg, mich, goodyear). to be fair i don't know how the futura 245 feels. it might give what i was hoping for. Good traction. Good price. Nice hp tire
Weakness:
as with all Z rated tires.....they dont last long... Good tires. Great price. Above average dry traction. Average wet traction. Below average wear...as it is a soft compound tire. Took these babys up to 135-140mph more than once and they never failed me. Similar Products Used: BFG T/A BFG Comp. Michelon Pilot |

Strength:
Soft compound, price, and reliability, I've never had one go down on me.
Weakness:
don't last forever I use futura ultra z tires on my 88 IROC-Z camero (245-50-16 front, 255-50-16 rear). Though I do go through them about every 18 months (rear). They have great traction because of the soft compound. I have dogged my tires with high speeds, burn outs, and doughnuts. The last time I changed them I did about a 30 second burnout and when I pulled in both rears were showing cords all the way around. I am very happy witht the tires all the way around. |

Read above.... The tires SUCKS. The rear end of my car is all over the place. I went with a cheaper tire due to getting rid of the car for a newer vette, so didn't want to spend a lot on tires. But I wish I did now!!!! I had my car check out, nothing wrong with the rear of the car. Alignment of the car is fine, it was just done. The tires tread run one way on one side and the other way on the other side. You want a cheap tire, get these then!!! |

cheap price for a z rated tire
Weakness:
tread life sux (my 2 sets were 225-55zr16's). chop bad with perfect alignment. for a few bucks more, get a better design, with better materials You get what you pay for - I've been running futura ultra z's for a few years now - I buy tires every year it seems and I only put 10k/yr on the car (stored winters). Normal driving and cornering. Pep boy's wouldn't pro-rate these this time around, so i went with Dunlop 5000 Sport z's - do yourself a favor - spend the extra $$ - what a difference |

Strength:
Price, Looks, and on the Z-Rated tires decent performance...
Weakness:
Very soft rubber so you will go through them faster if you beat on them... I Have these on all of my cars and I have yet to have any real problems with them, with the exception of the 31X12.5 15's which got pretty badly chopped after about 10,000 miles. But aside from that some real good tirers for a very reasonable price... Similar Products Used: Coopers, Yokomo, & BF |

Strength:
Good ride. Less tire noise. Inexpensive- cheapest tire with Z speed rating.
Weakness:
Poor handling. Poor initial response. Easy loss of track in sustained turn. Original equipment tires on Contour SVT were 205/55/16 Goodyear GS-C. The steering response of the Ultra Zs is noticeably poorer than the GS-Cs, but it may be due to thickness of new tread (I've got my fingers crossed). Sustained turns on entrance ramps that were easy to handle at 40-45 mph on GS-Cs are now a bit of a challenge on the Ultra Zs. Similar Products Used: Goodyear Eagle GS-C. Futura has definitely poorer dry-road handling and looking forward to better wet-road handling. |
