Strength:

-Grip pretty decent
-Come in hard to get sizes (195/45/r15)
-Cheap price

Weakness:

-Slide when pushed really hard
-Tread pattern looks cheap

I have these tires on the back of my GTI. The car has a limited slip (posi-trac, torsen, whatever you want to call it) differential, H&R cup kit, and Bilstein sport shocks installed. The car handles ridiculously amazing and these tires have held up to exit speeds out of corners over 70mph without losing grip.

I am able to get the car to oversteer with them if i go into a turn at a certain angle, but its easy to avoid and easy to compensate for. I believe they do grip very well for what they are and im supprised by the preformance of the so called "crap tires". Im sure they aren't a match for the potenza's on the front, but i have kept them on the back. Im might put them up front just to experiment. Final verdict, these are decent tires, good grip at (at least for not the drive wheels), and good value overall.

Better than the Futuras:

Bridgestone Potenza RE910 (One of the best tires i've ever driven on)
BF Goodrich T/A Traction (Also an amazing tire, comparable to Potenza's)
Toyo Proxxes 4 (Very very good tires, especially for the money!)

Strength:

excellent treadlife, good grip in rain or snow. all around excellent all season tires.

Weakness:

none found so far

I purchased a set of Super Sport GLS 215/60R14 tires for my 1990 Ford Probe in Aug. 2004. I have been driving on them for about 30k miles now and they are barely worn. They were purchased in Las Vegas where they were driven daily in 100+ degrees, I then moved to Colorado where they have been driven on snow in temps as low as 20 below zero. and again over 100 degrees. I commute at 75MPH 85 miles to work and back 6 days a week. I have never had a single problem with these tires. They are quickly becoming the best tires I have ever purchased.

Why Me
Model Reviewed: Honda Del Sol

Strength:

None that I'm aware of. Maybe they last a long time but a lot of good that'll do you when they decide to pull a Houdini.

Weakness:

Get real people in love with them, they're weak. Low traction in hard accelaration+sqealing and complaining in cornering=You sitting on the side of the highway saying "Why?".

I find it disturbing that I had exactly the same experience as described by the driver of the Geo happen to me this afternoon. I own a tuner and it weighs in at 2,000 lbs with me sitting in it. I can't believe that there is someone with a 5,000 lb. car using Futura GLS's for Auto-X. I feel for you and the car next to you when these tires decide to crap out.

I was running 65 mph (thank GOD I wasn't rolling at my usual rate of speed!) in a straight line on the highway this afternoon when my front passenger tire decided to disentigrate. No warning whatsoever, just a massive blowout. I have considered replacing the tires (they honestly neither ride nor corner well) but haven't because they have what appears to be decent tread on them. Let me tell you, appearances can be decieving. Had I been running at my usual comfortable pace or much less in a hard cornering situation I likely wouldn't be alive to post this review.

This is the first set of Futura tires I have had the misfortune of rolling on and I can promise you it will be the last. You can't afford to have a healthy looking tire decide to defect on you at over 100mph, if you can you must be a freaking cat with eight more chances to get it right. And why is it that a tire rated to 118mph (wasn't highly enough speed rated for my needs anyway) can't seem to handle a Geo Prism? Sorry guy, no offense intended.

So in closing I say: If you're rolling on Futura GLS Super Sports that could change at any given moment without warning. If you're not, you're best off keeping it that way.

Strength:

Excellent tred life. Five years and they still have alot of tread life left and I drive pretty hard.

Weakness:

On the other hand the compound is too hard and they dont have the bite I need on dry and expecially wet pavement.

Ive had 235/65R15 s on my truck for about five years. All I can say is that im NOT going to buy any more of these even though I work at PepBoys and i get a discount. There ok on dry pavement eventhough they spin relativly easy. On wet pavement they SUCK. Takeing off from a stop I have to baby it or all I do is spin.

Strength:

I am happy with the performance, and handling, in dry and wet conditions. Any tire, for heavy service or police duty, is normally subjected to abuse and speeds above normal driving. This tire has performed well, under the usual type driving conditions. Price was about $50 per tire on sale at Pep Boys, with mounting and balancing was under $300.

Weakness:

This is a non-police (V or H) rated tire. As such, it performs admirably under normal conditions. I would recommend it for normal 4 door sedans, with medium to heavy loads, but not for SUV or Light truck use. Tread pattern is similar to Eagle GT+4, with same light snow responsiveness(little to none). I do not recommend this tire for winter driving.

This review is for the Futura Super Sport GLS tires in P225/70R15 size. I originally wanted to purchase Futura Challenger GTH tires, Police Pursuit Approved, in the same size, but couldn't get Pep Boys to order them for me. These tires replaced Goodyear Eagle GT+4 tires on my 92 Ford CVPI.

i have used futura tires for over 5 years now, and i can't say enough about them, they last long, handle great, in all weather, i even go auto-x on them and they are great, i push my car past it limit, and my car it's almost 5000lbs, i own 3 cars and all of them have futura tires they are great. i have no idea what the other people are thinking, for the price is a steall, i have tried a lot brands over the years, and by far futura is better than goodyear, my car perform better in a set of futura tires than goodyear, goodyear can't hadle the weigth of my car and let's loose so fast, not a safe tire.

Strength:

Great corning and their are soft rubber and adhere to the road extremely well. In cold weather, they continue to perform well because they are sipped and the rubber remains soft.

Weakness:

Customer and tire shop stupidity. When the tire is place onto a car that it is intended for, they kick a$$.

After reading the poor reviews left by a couple of people, the reason is clear. Why would you place a high performance tire on a Geo Prism? One that car doesn't have the toruqe to turn that tire efficiently and this tire is rated for 118 mph. Please a Geo couldn't get that speed downhill with a push from a Kenworth. I own a firebird with 350hp stock and these tires rock. They kick the pants off the Goodyear Eagle and Kumo tires. I have put 20K miles on them and they still have great tread on them. I an a rough driver and am always pressing the limit and these tires hold strong. All in all, these tires are great as long as you're smart enough to use them within their design. Place a high performance tire on a high performance car and a touring tire on all the others.

Strength:

you may not live long enough to have to replace them

Weakness:

they will completely fail on you causing a near death experience

these are the worst possible tires you can possibly buy. they produce a horrible ride and while going 80 miles an hour one blew out. the side wall completely seperated from the tred with no warning causing me to crash into the guard rail on a major highway in the middle of rush hour. with a few different variables this tire would have killed me. Pep boys is crap and so is this tire.

Tough tread. Good cornering.

Weakness:

Slippage, especially on wet conditions. Treadware didnt stand up to its 50,000 mile claims.

This is a mediocre performance tire. I expected much more from the Futura brand name. I wore these tires out in less than 35,000 miles without hard driving.
