Strength:

Great handling tire. Good rain tire, which is important in Florida. Good wear so far. Not to much road noise.

Weakness:

None

So, far the tire has performed well on my 98 Ford F-150 STX. I use to have Good year GT2. My comp TAs has out performed this tire in every categorie. My tire size was 27560R17. The tires handle turns with me having to barely turn the wheel. Handles the power of the 4.6L v8 well. Although I can spin my tires whether easely.

Strength:

Winter traction, wet traction, good tread for rain.

Weakness:

Too hard a compound, hard time feeling them stick in cold weather.

After winter hit i relized what a great tire the HR4's are. The treads are good for winter driveing (dont know how some one from virginia can rate a snow tire) I live in minnesota and these delt with 6 plus inches of snow and ice just fine. Heck, in Virginia, the state would close if that happened. Wear is great so far, no change in tread depth through the first rotation. Took the rough winter roads (in case you didnt know, the roads in minnesota buckle a lot in winter) with out and problems bulging or other issues. Over all a wonderful tire.

Strength:

Nice ride

Weakness:

Poor quality, defects

First thing I found out when these were mounted was that one tire had a bubble defect in it. It blew out while on the highway in 100 degree heat. They are not as sticky as the Dunlops I replaced, but can be pushed harder before they squeal. I'm replacing all of them with Dunlops well before their tread life has expired simply because these are road hazard magnets. Something to do with the tread pattern helps pick up nails and puncture the tire. I've had two tires replaced because the puncture was so severe that it couldn't be fixed. So that leaves one original out of the set that I bought.

Good ride, grip, decent in rain, smooth

Weakness:

Horrible in snow/ice

I was pleasantly suprised by the 195/60r 14 size tires I bought used. Great as a summer tire, but sheesh...get these things off during the winter!

40,000 mile treadlife warranty. Believe me...thats all you'll get even conservitave driving, not complaining just a fact.

Weakness:

Very poor wet traction. Compound too hard for performance cars. Broke loose too easy on a GT Mustang if you got on it slightly. Perhaps this tire would do better on a touring vehicle.

Disappointed that Ford Motor Co. would put a tire like the BFG Comp T/A HR4 on a Mustang GT out of the factory. My opinion, the car should have come with a more "performance" tire on it. Very, very poor wet traction tire and have to be careful with it on a car with some power, your back end could get squirrly.

Strength:

Good tire for the price. I need to use P225/75/15 on this car, so my choices are somewhat limited. The Caprice is a big heavy car comapared to most of the cars made today. It needs a strng tire. The higher speed rating means stronger sidewalls. These tires feel good on the car. They handle pot holes well. Good wet traction. Nice smooth ride even at higher speeds. They are much better than the RSA's I had on before. However, they don't handle as well as the Pirelli P7000SS I have on my other car. To bad Pirelli does not make a P7000SS in 225/75/15.

Weakness:

Color. Seems to be to much gray in with the black. I have tried several types of cleaners. Guess I can live with it.

A good tire. Prices vary according to size. For a car like this where I might be tempted to go over the speed limit now and then, this is a good tire to choose.

didn't last long. and the sides dry rotted within 4 months and cracked.

i paid $54 a tire, for an H rating i really thought they would last longer on my civic, but one 110+ mph spinout-near accident on the Beltway 495 in Washington DC and there were no comp ta's on my rims, had to get towed off of highway. very disappointed after that. 9 month old tires.

Model Reviewed: 98 Mustang GT

Strength:

Decent wear, good noise, good ride quality

Weakness:

Crummy cornering predictability, soft sidewalls,

These run about $105 each in the 225/55/16 size on the "base" Mustang rims, and as an OEM tire they are decent in the wet and fairly controllable, extremely good in the snow of Michigan (didn't get stuck in foot-deep snow on the roads), but dry weather performance sucks. There is excessive sidewall wear from rollover, and as a result, if it gets out of whack it tends to "snap" back when traction returns, often resulting in a snap back in the opposite direction. From driving a 'Stang with SP8000s in direct comparison, it is the tires and not the car. These are great tires for general performance driving but crappy for high-performance or track driving. Better than the RS-As in the dry (except that the RS-As are more predictable) but the AVS are far better, and the SP8000s better yet (in dry and wet). I wouldn't recommend these over many tires at all...decidedly frightening at the limit and not tossable.

Strength:

Cheap, decent looking, lasts FOREVER.

Weakness:

Towards the end of it's life it lost some adhesion.

Would buy again if I wanted an inexpensive, name brand tire that would last forever. I finally took them off the car after about 68,000 miles.
