DESCRIPTION

The DC Sports Direct Air Charger is a sure fire way to improve your Honda or Acura with dyno tested bolt on performance. Because it takes more than just bending some tube to build a good intake, we spend countless hours in the R&D department to ensure that our parts work as we claim.

sounds great looks good

scratches easy

This intake was on the car when I bought it. I haven't really tried any other brand. I really like this intake it sounds amazing, it has a nice deep growl at low rpms and then when vtec kicks in it screams like crazy. I resently got my car timed, all I have is this intake and a b&m short shifter. The car is 15.7 stock car and Im not a professinal driver but I ran a 15.72 @ 88.9mph. all in all I think this is a great intake and it sounds great.

Strength:

Great sound, particularly with the extension . . . if you want a fast, "quiet" car, you probably shouldn't buy a 4-cylinder import. Significant HP gain (don't know the numbers, but it's noticeable). Looks nice under the hood (except for the scratches . . . *grumble*). DEFINITELY go with the cold air extension; the power gain and sound change are worth it.

Weakness:

Polished aluminum finish is easily scratched, so be careful during install. Support bracket installation "instructions" are a joke, but didn't find the bracket necessary; the fit is pretty snug. I just bolted it in a place that looked like it would keep it from rattling. ;-)

For the first several thousand miles I owned my car, I only had the DAC . . . I soon noticed that my performance increased noticeably with outside temperature change. Kind of annoying. I recently added the cold air extension, and the difference is highly noticeable. Gone is the significant HP change with the weather, and the powerband is most definitely wider . . . more push at both low and high RPMs. The extension even enhances the signature sound of the DAC, in my opinion . . . it's more "throaty." There is the concern of water . . . just be careful. I haven't had a problem, but I have yet to run into a situation where I'm forced to drive over standing water (and usually don't).

I've used the the DAC both with and without the cold air extension. Adding the extension creates a significant performance gain, *and* changes the sound even further.

Strength:

same as every other intake system, nice throttle response on cooler days, sucking sound is cool as always. improved gas mileage, which is the MAIN reason i got it.

Weakness:

on hot days, forget it, i think the stock works much better then.

Well it was either this or the AEM for the short term, however since i am going turbo soon, it would be a waste to get the aem, and i could not pass up the 100 bucks for this DC DAC on ebay in the meantime. of course the aem provides more power, but its also 2.5x more expensive.

Craftsmanship, looks, some gains in acceleration (high end of course ... Honda engine).

Weakness:

Mounting bracket is confusing.

Really nice craftsmanship. I actually felt a little horsepower gain and better response in acceleration. Installation wasn't too bad except for the bracket, wish they had specified which way it went instead of me disconnecting the filter and flipping the bracket around a million times. All in all its a good buy just hope i can find a CAE for my model car now.

Strength:

Looks, installation took 20 minutes, throaty sound, scared other motorists :) Had a 33% discount coupon code which took the intake price down to $140...cheap!

Weakness:

It's not a cold air intake, so you're still pulling in hot air from the engine bay, which may in fact nullify any gains you would have gained from the higher velocity air. This wasn't a concern to me until I put in stainless steel headers, which produce sick amounts of heat. I'm going to a CAI, but I don't regret the money I spent. It was nice to get away from the mainstream AEM crowd. I'm not going AEM now, decided on Iceman to avoid cutting stuff for the install. Will hold onto this piece for winter time to avoid any water problems.

Certainly one of the better looking intakes on the market and given the price I paid, was worth the money. It was the first modification I made to my car, and if it gained me minimal power, it's ok b/c I personally loved the sound this thing produced in the VTEC powerband.

Looks great, sounds great and increases power.

Weakness:

If you want a cold air intake you have to buy the extention.

I absolutely love this intake! It looks awesome under the hood and sounds great too. I did notice a small increase in power when accelerating and going up a hill. Best intake out there IMO. NOTE: I do recommend that if you get this intake, you should get the cold air extention too. You will want it in the summer when it''s 90 degrees out and you are actually losing power because the intake is sucking in all that hot air under the hood.

Looks, fit and finish. A quality filter element (a real K&N).

Weakness:

Horrific noise at wide open throttle. Sucking sound at idle. Reduced throttle response off-idle. Money siphoning action in your wallet for a basically useless item, a bit of brightwork for your engine bay.

I bought this intake based on it's looks. Most of the intakes I have seen are really cheesy, but the DAC is nicely polished, bolts up fine, and works well. The whistle/sucking noise at idle is a bit annoying, and at around 6000 rpms there is some kind of resonation inside of the normal howl this intake produces that is God-awful! Any claims of increased horsepower are a joke however, all I noticed is reduced off idle response and a bunch of noise with wider throttle openings. It looks cool, but I should have paid $50 and bought a K&N filter insert for the stock airbox. Oh well, it's prettier this way...If you want the loudest peice of brightwork available to jam under your hood, this is the piece of tube for you! If not? Filter elements are much less expensive.

looks great - nice tight fit
K@N filter is always a plus
easy install

Weakness:

very loud at full throttle - gets kinda annoying
couldnt figure out how to put on the support bracket - but dont really need it since the fit is so good
gets really hot sometimes - during hot days and takes in alot of hot air that hurts performance

paid $200 dollars for it- could have gotten a much cheaper price somewhere else but was in a hurry to get it

i think im going to try the AEM system and see if i can tell a difference
